Like it says - can an admin replace CAPTCHA (which is a terrible
system) with something more accessible like PlayThru?

Isn't going to happen. reCaptcha is the standard built by
google.

OK and thanks for coming back. Can CAPTCHA be edited to give
more legible entries? I currently have to refresh half a dozen
times to get one that I can read - a severe disincentive to
users!

Bottom of page you can change the difficulty level of the
recaptcha, or turn it off all together.

That setting is actually disabled by us.
