Recieve Instant shouts without reload

hello guys.
I want to suggest about modification of shoutbox in ezportal. I
have got a shoutbox on my forums esa.createaforum.com. But there
is a problem with shoutbox that when someone shout i.e. Hi. We
can't see their shout unless we refrest or reload the forums. If
this shoutbox allows us to have instant chat without reloadin
the whole page it will be great. I have seen such shoutbox on
other free forums web i.e. Pro boards forum shoutbox is like
this.

I think thats a paid-for add on. I have the paid Ajax Chat Room,
and it works like you suggest

actually no, if you go to ezportal settings there is written
"Shoutbox refresh time in seconds (Enter zero to
disable)" by defualt it has 0 value in it. But i entered 1 but
it still not working. Because if the shoutbox refresh after
every 1 second i would be able to recieve instant replies with 1
second delay. But its not happening.

well, I don't think that it could really refresh in 1 second -
even hitting the browser refresh button takes longer than that.
As far as I'm aware, nothing on the forum is displayed in real
time, the browser page has to be refreshed each time. I have
banner adverts with about 10 different banners, but it will only
show a different banner each time the page is refreshed.

I believe that feature is disabled here due to bandwidth
concerns.

It is also browser dependent I think I use an iframe to reload

Its not like this that function just only refresh the shoutbox
and its not alot and its totally different from reloading the
whole page.
I think this function is disabled as it is not working even i
tried 5 seconds in value box. Admin should have a look.

But Internet Explorer 6 is the only browser that has a decent
market but doesn't support xmlhttprequest, couldn't you simply
write an if statement for it?
