Collapsible boards by default

Dear Sirs
Would it be possible to give us an option in the Admin panel to
make certain boards collapsed by default please ?
I want to make an extensive category listing for useful
information and each sub category needs to be individualised.
Unfortunately right now if I do this, any guests or new users
will see a plethora of categories in a long list which they most
likely will be disillusioned by.
If I could collapse the parent category by default with an admin
option, it would make this task 1000 times more fruitful.

I used to have it the past but removed it since it was not used
by many people and took extra resources

That's a shame. I wonder if it can be applied on an individual
basis at request ?
What I need to do is an important step for the continued growth
of my forum and will be a one of a kind resource on the net.
Without this feature it will make it impossible to achieve and
without it the forum will never transpire into a paid
subscription.
It's the one thing I can do which makes the site 'different'
from 'all the other sites' many of which already have a large
member base. It's difficult to compete against, and the
naysayers predict it's doomed to fail without a unique offering.
I sincerely hope there is a solution.

Not sure possibly as a paid request but may take me a while to
do it since I removed most of that structure not sure if I want
to.

Can you tell me if I have access to my forum
'boardindex.template.php' please ?
That would enable me to change my default setting of
expand/collapse
