[GUIDE] EzPortal Guide
DIR By: Jaron
Date: August 6, 2010, 7:31 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
How to Enable the EzPortal System
---------------------------------------------------------
Admin CP > EzPortal - Settings > Install and Enable EzPortal
(click this button)
By doing so, you will have the ability to edit the settings, set
up EzBlocks, and create webpages.
---------------------------------------------------------
Settings
---------------------------------------------------------
Enable Portal Homepage - By checking this box, you will be able
to add EzBlocks on a home page. This is where the "Home" and
"Forum" tabs come from. When enabled, a "Forum" tab will appear.
That tab will lead you to the board index. The "Home" tab will
now be redirected to a home page with the blocks you've set up.
Custom Homepage Title - This will be the text that appears in
the users' browsers when viewing your page. Both on their tabs
and in the top corner of their internet browser.
Hide edit/delete options on ezBlocks for Admin's and ezBlock
Manager's - When you create EzBlocks, quick link images will
appear next to the title on them. These images are only viewable
to Admins or staff that have permission to edit the EzPortal.
They allow you to quickly edit or delete blocks. But they can be
annoying to move around, so this box is to disable them.
Disable TinyMCE when adding/editing html ezBlock - removes the
text toolbar above the text area when adding or editing HTML
blocks.
---------------------------------------------------------
Shoutbox Settings
---------------------------------------------------------
Enable Shoutbox - This allows you to use the shoutbox built into
the EzPortal system
Show date on shoutbox - When someone makes a post in the
shoutbox, the date AND time will be shown instead of just the
time.
Show shout history link - This will allow users to view posts
that are no longer shown on the board.
Hide says on shoutbox - When posts are made on the shoutbox it
will say "USERNAME says: message here". By checking this box, it
will remove the word "says"
Hide admin delete shout entry - Admins have the ability to
delete any post on the shoutbox. This will remove the "delete"
link next to each entry
Number of items to show per page on shoutbox history - When
someone views the shoutbox history, this will determine how many
entries will be listed on each page.
Show BBC box icons for shoutbox - This will add a very small
text toolbar above the text area. With the bold, italics,
underline, etc. buttons on it.
Show smilies on shoutbox - This will display the smileys for use
on the toolbar
Shoutbox refresh time in seconds - This will allow you to chose
the amount of time between each refresh. If it's set to zero, it
will only refresh when the page is refreshed
Allow EzPortal.com to collect stats on your Portal - Pretty self
explanatory.
---------------------------------------------------------
EzBlock Manager
---------------------------------------------------------
Block Title - The name that will appear above the EzBlock
Column - Its placement on the homepage
Icon - The image that will appear next to the title of the block
Block Data - The contents of the block
Permissions - Who can view the block
EzBlock Managers - What membergroups can edit the block
Additional Settings - The only setting here is whether or not
they can collapse the box or not.
The rest is pretty self explanatory
---------------------------------------------------------
Page Manager
---------------------------------------------------------
Using this feature allows you to create webpages for basically
ANYTHING. These pages can be used for chatboxes, information,
etc.
Admin CP > Page Manager > Add Page (click this button)
Page Title - The title of the page you're creating.
Page Content - what will appear on the page
Permissions - What membergroups can view the page
The Page Manager is used for creating separate webpages. Youtube
videos, charts, text, music, chatboxes, ANYTHING can be put
here.
When using HTML with a webpage, you'll need to find the HTML
option on the toolbar. Putting HTML in the text area will not
work.
Below is an image with the location to the HTML button on the
toolbar:
HTML http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s20/smfstyles/clickhtml.png
HTML should be placed here. Scripts or most codes found in the
code index should not be placed in this area of the forum.
After you create the page, you will be brought back to the page
where you started but now you will see your new pages title and
link. That link can be distributed to lead people directly to
that page.
It can also be used in a custom tab (feature not on CreateAForum
yet)
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
I hope this has been helpful. If you have any questions, feel
free to post them here.

Ok. I have a question about the Ez Portal. First of all....Is
there anyway that I can see a forum that uses the Ez Portal so I
can see exactly what it is? (I have never seen one. In
fact...until I got my Create a Forum forum....I had never heard
of or seen a Create a Forum)

You could just go to the page itself, no one will know that you
just made a page unless you told them about it.

I'm using the EZportal shoutbox (as the other one wouldn't
actually shoe the shouts) but the EZportal shoutbox will not
show the smiley graphics (gifs) it just shows the symbols.
