Board Logos/Images and Notifications

I have included little images for each board that have replaced
the default image. The result is that when coming to the forum
have lost what would have showed up as a glowing logo there
indicating that a new topic or reply was posted..
Guess that is just the downside of me replacing the default
image/button that changed colors for letting people know about
new posts ?
Probably a stupid question, but is there anything I can do to
that image area for each board that would indicate new activity
within the boards ?

Each board has 2 images, 1 indicating new posts and 1 indicating
no new posts. You could make some adjustments to the image with
new posts such as making a border around it or something.
