Custom Smileys for 'own domain' sites.
   DIR By: Mike Waters
       Date: September 16, 2012, 5:46 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       I am disgruntled.
I initiated a forum at CreateAForum.com and changed it over to
my own domain name because SMF promoted four benefits for doing
       so.
Then when I tried to purchase Custom Smileys I was only able to
do so under the original ……..createaforum.com URL
My money was banked but nothing materialised.
SMF then said the update occasionally went missing in respect of
sites operating under an owner’s domain name, but they had now
       put that right for me.
Indeed It looked as if they had, but the guide for using the
       update
       (
  HTML http://www.smfsupport.com/support/guides-and-tutorials/(guide)-custom-smiles-upgrade-option/
  HTML http://www.smfsupport.com/support/guides-and-tutorials/(guide)-custom-smiles-upgrade-option/<br
/>) did not relate to ‘own domain name’ sites and, being written
in 2006, seems well out of date with the current arrangement of
       Admin options.
In consequence no matter what I insert in Theme Settings I can
only produce Smiley Sets under …….createaforum.com/Smileys.
And when I try to upload a new Smiley the best that I can get
comes up with an icon instead of a Smiley image.

Guidance requested in plain simple English please.

The reason it seems out of date with the admin options is
because it is a guide made for smfforfree forums. And there's
not been a guide updated for the way that CAF is setup, but it's
       relatively the same.
I will send this to CAF so that he can help you as I have little
knowledge of the custom smileys upgrade itself in how to set it
       up.
       Please be patient :)

       Many thanks indeed.
I can have unlimited patience once I know things are 'in hand'.
I'll gladly consider an appropriate donation once what I've paid
       for is working.

Fixed your smilies Mike you should be able to add custom
smilies. Just use the add smilies button do not touch any of the
       other settings.

I have seen the changes that you made to the settings.
Changes that I would never have dreamed of making.
If it works as you say then that will be great.
Are you going to do a guide for others in my position?
       Mike. ;D

       Nope.
Under Edit Smileys they show up fine in the list, and I have set
them to 'Post Form', but in the post form they still only show
up as icons instead of images.
And BTW I have made a record of all the other settings that you
made in case one gets changed.
I look forward to the next tweak that needs to be made.
Might my problem be anything to do with me using GoogleChrome as
       my browser?

I saw that you made another sortee into our admin settings for
smileys but without the desired effect of Smiley images
appearing in the add post panel.
Does it mean that it can't be done for an 'own domain name'
       adaptation of CAF?
