Sometime In the Future

((This is like, pre-main RP for how Tim and I became partners in
crime/crime fighting.))
Thanagar lay in wastes. The dark world of Downside, the slums
where the slave class, various aliens and outcast Thanagarians,
lived was utterly destroyed. The only refuge now were the great
floating cities-the world of the winged Thanagarians. Icaria
looked down on her burning home, her yellow eyes glazed over
with shock. The invasion had been too rapid for even the mighty
Thanagarian fleet to prevent the alien ships from making
landfall. They had destroyed everything in their path, sweeping
aside defenses that had stood for generations like so much paper
in the wind. The aliens hadn't even bothered to make
contact-they had simply attacked. Icaria had never heard of such
brutality. Thanagarians always gave the option of surrender
before they attacked a planet. The aliens were mechanical
monsters-horrors of flesh and metal whose technology defied
belief, even to the highly advanced civilization of the
Thanagarians.
What am I going to do? She thought, sitting down so that her
booted feet dangled over the balcony. Her hair curly hair
billowed into her face. She pushed it impatiently aside with a
deep sigh. Behind her, the wide avenue that wound between the
Central Command and the barracks was crowded with winged men and
women busying themselves with the task of preparing for attack.
Several engineers were at work on a Thanagarian cruiser,
salvaged from the initial defeat of the Armada at the edge of
the solar system. The ship was in bad shape-burnt and broken
shielding lay around it in an unkempt pile, the naked
electronics and glowing blue power cords inside twisted apart or
gone altogether. Any other war it would have been trashed for
scrap, but now it was one of the few ships left relatively
intact. It's state reflected the state of Thanagar itself:
vulnerable. Icaria didn't like that feeling. Vulnerability was
not something Thanagarians were used to experiencing.
We must continue to fight, of course. She thought, shaking her
head. It shouldn't be a hard question for a Thanagarian to
answer, but doubt was creeping into her resolve. Shouldn't they
try to reach out to the invaders, and negotiate some kind of
truce? Nothing of the sort had been done for generations. No
civilization in the galaxy, until now, could rival the military
prowess of the Thanagarian Empire.
But Icaria's civilization was being brutally destroyed. She had
seen many a fellow warrior and friend fall in battle around her.
Any remaining Thanagarians who resisted the invaders were
instantly crushed. It was only a matter of time before the great
floating cities were brought crashing into Downside, never to
fly again. It would take some kind of miracle to save Thanagar
now.

"Look at how all that gold shimmers in space" Zakhar said
mockingly looking at the Amarr cruiser his fleet was following
in the warp tunnel. The fleet had been chasing the Amarrians for
months waiting for the time where justice could be brought down
upon them for the hideous attack on Caldari Prime. "Exiting warp
in 2 AU General Oriki" one of the deck hands sounded off."
Zakhar, nodding, took control over the camera drones of the
fleet to show his bridge. "When we enter grid, all ships primary
that royal bitch Sarum's Abbadon, i want that full of so many
hole that not even the Minmatar could make it flyable". With
that remake, the fleet exited warp on arrived on grid to watch
as a mix group of capital ships cyno in near a staging party of
sub-capital ships. "Captain, we have six Dreadnoughts entering
siege"! " We expected as much, alright fleet, its hot drop a
clock! Bellowed Zakhar as the camera drones turned to focus on
Zakhar's own group of capital ships drop for the depths of space
to above his Wyvern. The Titans began shooting massive balls of
plasma and antimatter at the Amarrian Forces as the fleet
scanned the planets in the system. "Sir, scan shows a Invasion
party on one of the planets, checking which one, hold one
moment, Thanagar the natives call it". "Their trying for another
reclaiming, wishing to swell their slave ranks, i'm not going to
watch that happen, mercenaries!, begin clone jumping, we're
landing hot into hostile territory, help locals if the moment
presents itself, i want every Amarrian on that planet dead six
times over". With those commands, Zakhar clone jumped into his
personal squadron that had already landed on the planet.
When on the ground, Zakhar saw horrors that he had not
seen since the first reclaiming. Bodies amassed the ground like
grass, the Amarrians were blasting through the locals with
little mercy, only stopping to enslave the ones that survived
their attacks. Zakhar, Scanning for a vantage point to call a
orbital strike caught sight of a group of locals fighting it out
with the Amarrians. While watching them, they reminded him of of
the old Caldari Motto "Divinity in the flock, delivery in flux,
one being, many changes". Lost in though, he failed to notice
the yellow eyes staring at the back of his skull lining up an
arrow to end his life.

"Who are you?!" Icaria demanded, drawing the of her bow tighter
as she faced the strange commander and his oncoming fleet alone,
with only a small band of rebel warriors to back her up. Her
yellow eyes blazed with the fire of battle. "Never mind names, I
should just kill you like your invaders have done to my home
world." Icaria snarled. It occurred to her that the stranger
might not be part of the invading army, but these were desperate
times. She wasn't taking any chances.

"The ships that sacked your planet to begin with were not mine."
Zakhar said calmly while turning to face the voice behind him.
"The firs ships were Amarrians, a race devoted to enslaving all
others, and, well, you planet happen to get chosen this time".
"I'd advise against killing me also, without my force in the air
right now, the planet would have already have fallen."

Slowly, Icaria lowered her bow. The glowing tip of the arrow
slowly died into nothingness, the energy that made it white-hot
dissipating in the air. "I apologize." She hesitated, glancing
around her at all the destruction. "As you can probably guess,
we have good reason for being cautious. My name is Icaria, this
is Catar and Shihera." Icaria gestured to the two Thanagarian
soldiers standing behind her. They both nodded in greeting.
"It's hard to believe, but it's been only days since
the...Amarrians landed here. We've only been able to manage
minimal resistance to their forces. This floating city is the
last of our strongholds." She said. Below them, the Amarrians
were slowly advancing over the ruins of Downside, and she could
see Amarrian soldiers piling into ships. Dozens of ships. The
force field that surrounded the city wouldn't be able to hold
out very long under their assault when they attacked.

"Its good your race is cautious, its what allows for survival".
Zakhar said admittedly while watching the Amarrian ships take
to the air. "If that is the last stronghold, were going to need
a lot more fire power and defense down here." Looking up to his
Carrier in low orbit, "Sergei, i need three flights of
Dragonflies for air support down here, and what is the progress
on the battle up top?" "OK, Dragonflies on the way down, but
you'll be needed up here soon sir, State vessels have warped in
and are demanding an answer for the escalation". Sergei said
reluctantly while watching Caldari State ships activate their
hardeners and start tracking the fleet. "Heth, you scumbag".
Zakhar cursed under his breath will turning to face Icaria.
"I've got close air support coming down to handle the ground
troops, but the sky is about to become on fire, your stronghold
have shield?"

"Yes. There's a force field surrounding the city, but I have no
idea how long it's going to hold. So far, the Amarrians have
swept aside our defenses easily." Icaria said. "We have plasma
cannons that are still functioning. They are one of the only
reasons this city has stood unassaulted." She pointed toward the
cannons as she spoke. They were huge, and stood in their own
building separate from the rest of the base. "There used to be
three other sets like those, but the generators went down a few
hours ago. That's all we've got. Lookout!" She leaped forward,
pushing the mercenary general aside as a ball of plasma bit into
the city's force field. The field shielded them from the brunt
of the attack, but the heat from the impact burned into the skin
on Icaria's arm as she shielded her face. When the energy from
the plasma dissipated into the air, she looked down at the
damage to her arm. The burn was pink and already oozing with
puss, but she would live. She pulled a bandage out of her belt
and quickly wrapped it around her arm, wincing as the fabric
touched her still-hot skin. She scooped up her armor and slipped
her helm onto her head. "Let's do this." Icaria said eagerly,
ignoring the pain in her arm.

"alright, my ships can direct their energy to your shield
systems to keep them going long enough for the Amarrian forces
to be dealt with" Zakhar said while looking at Icaria's wound.
While getting out a nano injector Zakhar said to Icaria "Your
arm is going to have to taken off, the Amarr have been coating
the air with their drug, Vitoc, it will turn you in a junkie
willing to become a slave just to get some more, these nanobots
can hold the drug from the other parts of the body but not where
they first infect."

(HIGHLY ADDICTIVE AEROSOL. I LOVE IT.)
Icaria nodded grimly. She understood the consequences of the
drug. Zakhar didn't have to explain to her how addictive the
drug was. She had seen it's effects destroy her comrades, some
of them friends she had known for years. "I will have to fight
with it, then." Icaria said. "There's no time now." As she
spoke, the Amarrian ships encircled the city, completely cutting
off any chance for escape except to fight.

"Dammit, the ships are already at the city." Turning to face
Icaria, "Rally your remaining troops to my dropships, your race
does not have enough force to fight the amarrians and i'm not
able to get enough troops on the ground fast enough to turn them
back." "The only way to stop them from taking the city is to
overpower the shields at the right moment so that when my ships
fire near the city, the shields collapse in a huge pulse of
energy that will direct the ammunition across the planet and
into space, killing most of the Amarrian forces, ill have to
stay down here to make sure nothing survives." Give me the word
to one of my soldiers when everyone is boarded up."
