Dracona and Karra laughed. "He has a point." Karra said, and
Dracona nodded. "Why would a god specialize in the arts and
warfare? Sounds like he has some conflicting values if you ask
me."
"You're just jellos that you didn't think of it first." Dracona
teased, poking Cyndor in the stomach with the end of her tail.
"You were probably too busy convincing some gullible humans that
they were going to starve in the winter unless they learned how
to stand on their head and touch the end of their nose with
their tongue at the same time."

Cyndor raised his hands up in surrender. "Look, just because
that logic is a little flawed doesn't mean it isn't a good plan.
I mean, you lose most of your body warmth through your head, if
you stand on your head, all your blood goes to it, making it
warmer. That works, right? No?"
He sighed, and then laughed. "Besides, I was teaching that to
dwarves."

"Yes... That makes more sense." Dracona said speculatively.
"Since they are shorter and wider than humans, it would be
easier for them to balance."
"Remember that time you convinced Dracona that her scaled
weren't going to grow back after she molted?" Karra asked,
grinning broadly. "She walked around for weeks thanking that she
was going to be the only scaleless draconian on Mechanus."

"Oh yes." Cyndor said, struggling to contain his laughter. "Oh
Cyndor!" He said in a high pitched, mocking voice. "Isn't there
anything I can do? I can't just not have scales!" Finally he
could contain it no longer and both Cyndor and Karra guffawed,
slapping their knees and smiling at Dracona, who just turned
away, blushing as much as was possible as a cat sized dragon.

While Dracona and Cyndor were talking, Icaria bought them a
room. She had no idea how long they would be staying, or if they
intended to find somewhere more permanent in the city, so she
put them down for a two-night stay just in case. She got the
plastic key and went over to join Cyndor and Dracona around the
fire. "Here's your key." Icaria said, and handed him the plastic
card. Then she realized that he probably had no idea how to use
it. "Er, I'll show you how to use it." She said, and stepped
into the elevator. They went up to the floor Cyndor and his
friends were staying on and to the room where they were staying.
"You put in like this," She said, swiping the card. "And viola,
unlocked." She opened the door.

"He convinced you that you were going to get extraordinarily fat
if you ate anything other than walnuts." Dracona reminded them.
"That lasted for months before I had pity on you and told you it
was a joke."
"You both believed me when I said that I lost control over which
forms that I changed into." Dracona said with an evil glint in
her eye. "And I 'accidentally' blew you into that lake, and then
transformed into my gigantic form and jumped in after you."

Cyndor shook his head slowly, smiling softly. "Now that," He
said. "Was just plain mean."
Cyndor glanced over at Icaria who appeared to have finished her
transaction and was heading their way. "Can we trust her?"

Dracona had been watching the Icaria closely ever since she had
joined them, and she had made her decision about the winged
girl. "I think we can." She said, tilting her tiny head to one
side. "Nothing about her strikes me as dangerous or threatening.
She's just... sad. I have a feeling that she is as out of place
in this world as we are."

Cyndor eyed the girl suspiciously. "I suppose. You've never been
wrong before." He slowly rose from the seat, urging Dracona back
into his sleeve with his hand. "Now I hope we're about to be
shown to a room with a bed."

Once everyone was 'asleep', a strange noise is heard by Cyndor.
It's dark, so he couldn't make out any figures in the dark. He
quietly got up and turned on the lights.
There he was again, Janon, eating the food that was in the
mini-fridge. Once he saw the light come on and Cyndor staring at
him, he shrunk down and ran under one of the beds.
