How to start

So we need to decide how to start. Where is it set? Are we a
team? Do we know each other? Who's the villain? What's
happening? All sorts of questions need to be answered. So, throw
some ideas out there.

I was thinking about a world on the verge of collapse. Maybe New
York? However since most of us have the ability to travel
quickly I was thinking that we could be all over America, or
maybe even the world. However, idk what you guys want to do.
I've always liked the have an entire continent to roam around
in.
I was thinking that we are a bunch of random powerful people
bound together by a shared need. We all have very different
backgrounds, so there is bound to be some tension between some
of us, and close alliances between others.
Since my characters and Grayson's character are from the same
world, we know each other, but other than that my main character
and her companion know no one else in this world.
With the world in a state of spiraling decay, there are
countless things we could be trying to stop. There could be
mutants from radiation, random dictators that are trying to take
over the world in its weakened state, and a ton of other things.
Then there are our arch villains who we have to deal with too.
I guess starting off, we have to meet each other. The rest
normally follows. I've read enough pre/post-apocalyptic books
that I can supply a ton of monsters and ideas about conflict.
However, it all depends on what you guys want to do. Idk how
useful I'll be if you decide on something else that I don't know
as much about.

Something like tensions between countries are very high, and
then when a villain randomly pops up and starts wreaking havoc
all over the world, people are quick to point fingers. The world
is on the verge of collapse, so in their final moments of
desperation some kind of nuclear war starts? And of course we
can't just let the world end! :P
My thoughts are that, faced with imminent doom, we'd probably
be more inclined to fight than join forces, but you never know I
guess.
Another idea is that the government of like a country is
corrupt, and they're employing monsters/villains to try and
destroy some stuff and then have them "arrested" to make
themselves look good or something, and we have to stop them.
Or robots. Mutant robots. Giant mutant robots. That would be
fun. 8)
Of course, it could also be far ahead in the future, maybe even
in the midst of a nuclear winter or some such, like something
out of Fallout, where the world is shrouded by anarchy and fear,
and a new government is trying to rise up and take over.
Maybe it could be the future with no apocalypse, but with
advanced technology people have mutated or somehow gained some
kind of powers and lots of bad guys are popping up.
I guess it doesn't really matter what we choose, but I'd sorta
like to get started, idk about you guys! ;D

Okay, I was thinking something like this as far as the state of
the world:

It's like RIGHT before the world literally ends. I think it
would be work because everything is so messed up and things are
so bad that we'd be kind of forced to cooperate with each other.
We would be the last hope for humanity or something like that.
No matter how much we dressage with each other, we can't just
let all of the humans die.
Any more opinions? Anyone else have any ideas? I'd hate for us
to get started with this and it turn out that no one likes what
we're doing.

Yep Tim. Terrible. Just like everything else you do. ::) It's
fine. lol. Why would that be terrible? If you have an idea, just
do it. Or at least say it. Even if you get shot down!
I'd be careful though, Daniel has a way with big guns. And
shooting.
