Adding outside material to your MMS

i all! For those of you who have acquired great stashes of
goodies that are NOT My Memories Suite items, don’t worry! You
can still use your MMS program to make the most incredible pages
ever! Here are a few simple steps to find your goodies (actually
two ways) try them both and see what works for you!
** IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE RUNNING VISTA: RIGHT CLICK YOUR PROGRAM
ICON AFTER COMPLETING THE STEPS BELOW AND THEN CHOOSE “RUN AS
ADMINISTRATOR” TO OPEN YOUR PROGRAM - THIS SEEMS TO ELIMINATE
SOME OF THE GLITCHES THAT VISTA CREATES**
One VERY quick and easy way to find anything digital
       (kit/paper/embellishment/
jpeg graphic/clipart graphic/png file - any thing saved on your
       computer is this:
       - Open the album you are working on
       - Click on the ADD EMBELLISHMENT button (either on the top menu
or from the EMBELLISHMENTS tab on the CONTROL PANEL on the right
       hand side of your screen)
       - In the CHOOSE EMBELLISHMENT pop up panel, click on the BROWSE
OTHER box located below your embellishments list
       - After clicking on that you can navigate to ANY file on your
computer (this is helpful if you have items on a flash drive or
       separate external hard drive)
       - locate the desired embellishment in that file and click on it
(in the preview panel) click OK - your desired embellishment
will be added to your page.
THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS PROCESS IS THAT YOU CAN ADD ANY
EMBELLISHMENT, GRAPHIC, EVEN BACKGROUND PAPER THIS WAY - THIS IS
ESPECIALLY NICE IF YOU WANT A BACKGROUND PAPER AS A “MAT” OR TO
BE ABLE TO RESIZE IT OR SHAPE IT ON YOUR PAGE!
       ————————–————————–————————–———————–
The other way you can add outside items to your MMS program is
to actually create files that you add to your MMS program files!
       - Download a new kit, graphic, picture whatever you like to a
       file on your computer
       - Click on your START MENU (on your computer)
       - Click on C DRIVE (or wherever your program files are)
       - Click on your PROGRAM FILES folder
       - Click on your MY MEMORIES SUITES folder (NOT opening the
       program, just the program file)
       - Click on COMPONENTS
       (FOR EMBELLISHMENTS)
       - Click on EMBELLISHMENTS
       - Click on 1-DESIGNER EMBELLISHMENTS
       - Drag your new folder into the DESIGNER EMBELLISHMENTS file
       (FOR BACKGROUND PAPERS)
       - Click on BACKGROUNDS
       - Click on the THEME file
       - Drag you new file into the THEME folder
Then close all that up and start your MMS program.
** IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE RUNNING VISTA: RIGHT CLICK YOUR PROGRAM
ICON AND THEN CHOOSE “RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR” TO OPEN YOUR PROGRAM
       - THIS SEEMS TO ELIMINATE SOME OF THE GLITCHES THAT VISTA
       CREATES**
Then you can access your new goodies in the same manner as you
do when you open items you buy directly from MMS.
Both ways have their advantages and drawbacks - just figure
       which is right for you!
       Hope that helps!

       Good information, Sarah. Thanks!
I just wanted to add a couple of notes.
The first method is great for quickly adding an embellishment
from a scrapbooking kit that is not in the My Memories Suite
digital scrapbooking software as an embellishment to your album
       page.
However, if you want to add the same file to a different album
you will need to go through the whole process again. If you know
you will be using a file in many different albums, use the
second method. The advantage of the second method is that the
file will then appear in the Add Embellishments window, and you
won't have to go fishing for it every time. Additionally, you
can copy whole folders in and see embellishments in the context
of the other embellishments (or background papers) in the
       digital scrapbook kit.
So, one-time use, first method. Recurring use, second method.
Also, after adding a file with the second method, please look in
the following places to find them:
       Background Papers -
In My Memories Suite, click on Background Papers from the
       Control Panel.
       Click on the Template icon.
Locate the folder or file you copied in.
       Embellishments -
In My Memories Suite, click on Embellishments from the Control
       Panel.
       Click on Add.
Double-click on the 1-Designer Embellishments category.
If you put the file directly in that category, it will show up
in the Preview on the right. Otherwise, look for the subcategory
       in the list.

Thanks Samuel for your comment. I prefer the installation of
information into MMS, especially on V.2. because then you can
quickly access it through the resource panel. In addition, it's
easy to browse with MMS quick and easy viewable folders. The
only problem with this method is that it makes your software
program huge. It really speeds up your scrapping though! I
want to try putting my program on an external drive and seeing
how that works -- I still have a good bit more stuff I could add
       to my 75GB components file:-)
