       Word Art
By: slbarton Date: September 14, 2010, 8:47 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I love making wordart for my pages and collecting wordart from
other designers. If you have never checked out Bethany's work
       at
  HTML http://elegantwordart2.blogspot.com/,
       you have got to pop
over there. She has tons of freebies and often runs great deals
in her store. A nice simple solution for all your wordart
needs. But if you want to try it yourself, here are a few tips.
Try to stick with two very distinct fonts. I have taught a
class on fontology, which I hope to post on here soon, but the
bottom line is that you don't want your fonts to be too similar.
You can mix and match as much as you want, but sticking with
two very different fonts is a good place to start.
The next thing you need to do is identify which part of your
wordart is most important. What do you want to stand out? Once
you have decided this, you will need to consider ways you want
to make it stand out. You can make it bigger or smaller,
lighter or darker, bolder or softer. Once I have figured out
what I want to stand out, I usually scrap it first. Add a
textbox to your page, and get the main word/words in it. You
will design the rest around it. Continue to add text boxes to
complete your phrase or title. Just like in scrapbooking, you
have to add it in layers. Add your smaller words to one box.
If you want to rotate a word, add it in a separate box. Just
remember that when you want to make wordart you must layer,
layer, layer and you will come out with works of art!
Any other tips for designing wordart? Got a favorite word art
       designer? Can't wait to see!!

I have a problem when adding word art, maybe you can help me. I
can never choose a different color when it "gradient" color is
selected. It is always grey! ??? If I select fill color
instead, I can make it be any color I want. What am I doing
       wrong? Thanks!

Just and FYI, Bethany has recently been hospitalized for severe
depression and won't be blogging for the immediate future. Her
archives are all available but she is not. Please pray for this
lovely, generous woman that she see the sunshine on her world
again soon. From her friend Hillary, this has been coming on
for some time... so please keep her in your prayers.

Do you want to change the gradient color or do you want to
change it to a solid color? Once you have selected gradient or
solid, click on the grey/white box OR the black box, whichever
you are using. This will bring up the color window you are
familiar with in MMS. If you need more help, just let me know.
Not sure where you are getting stuck, sorry:-/

Bethany is back home and back to designing awesome word art! I
would love to take a class on how to do my own. Does it require
Photo Shop? or can you design in MMS?

Glad to hear Bethany is at home. Hope she is feeling better. I
*THINK* you would need photoshop IF you wanted to save the word
art with a transparent background, I dont think there is a way
to do that in MMS. But of course you can design word arts ON
your layout. Does that make any sense?

Jessica, do you want to give away your wordarts? If so, I would
recommend Photoshop elements. It is cheaper than photoshop, but
provides all you would need for that. I design wordart pictures
in MMS. You can see some of them on my flickr site. I will try
to get some up here asap.

I was thinking of just designing word art for myself.....but
giving it away is a great idea. I do have photo shop
elements.....but honestly I am terrified to even open it!!!!!
