       Death of Lies!
       Ch.1
       Beginning of the End.

My life has always been full of danger and mystery. When I was
younger my mom disappeared and my father was a lawyer that had
dealt with a crooked client. I remember my father running
towards me yelling to run and told me “Dark Fire, Son, you have
to be the man of the house now. Don’t even look back. I L…” He
never did finish his sentence. Someone, a stranger, had walked
up and stabbed him and left. For the longest time, I always
thought he was going to say “I Love you.” I still think about
that day, the day that changed my life forever.
I had just graduated from college and I was searching for a
job. I had received a master’s degree in law. Sitting in my
chair, I was alerted by a phone call. “Hello.” A deep and
disturbing voice said. “You are Dark Fire correct?” “Yes…who is
this?” I said in a nervous voice.

The voice answered, “We can talk about that later. We have a
job for you. Come by the FBI headquarters at twelve and we’ll
talk then.” “Ok”, I said just as the voice hung up.
“I wonder what that was about. Why was the FBI calling me? I
just have a master’s degree in law.” My mind was racing with
questions. “Maybe if those simple minded FBI agents can’t figure
anything out, possibly they need a skilled and smart person to
       help.” I said to myself.
I got in my car and drove for an hour until I got to the FBI
Headquarters. There was a large metallic door. When I tried to
enter a robot voice said, “Password! What is the password!?” “I
don’t know robot! Just let me in!” “Invalid password! Invader!
Invader!” The voice said. “Wait!” I yelled. Looking around, I
realized what was talking was a robot that was standing in front
of the big metal door. The robot looked a lot like a garbage can
with a square head and slots on the sides that I deducted were
       where his arms came out.
I looked at my watch. “Look! It’s twelve and no one is here!” I
said enraged. “Twelve? Twelve is correct. You may enter.” The
robot said. I walked up to the door and it opened automatically.
       2
Inside I saw giant robots, scientists running around, a lot of
agents in black suites standing around eating, and a front desk.
I walked up to the black desk. Looking more closely at the desk,
I noticed it had a lamp and the words FBI on the front.
Someone walked up behind me and said, “Hello, I am inspector
number 2. You can call me Steifer.” I turned around to see he
had a shaved head, a black with white lettered FBI suite, and
dark sunglasses on. “Why did you call me?” I asked. “We are
aware that you have a master’s in law and that you need a job.
We have your job.” He said with a smile on his face.
Just then I heard a loud buzzing sound and then a click,
“Number 2, is he here yet? Over.” A voice said. Steifer grabbed
his radio and answered, “Affirmative. Over.” “Then bring him up,
over.” “Let me take you to our boss.” Steifer said with a smile.
I took his proposal into consideration and answered, “Um… ok.”
We walked up to a door. Steifer slid a card through a slot and
the door opened. Inside there was a small metal hinge that when
lifted up, numbers were found. Steifer pushed the highest number
and we started to rise. “Oh, this is an elevator!” I said.

       3
Steifer replied “No, it is a risel. You see, it can do more than
rise and fall, it can also move left and right.”

We reached the top floor, the doors opened, and we exited the
risel. We walked slowly down a dark corridor. There was lack of
light, except for an exit sign at the very end. We approached a
door and Steifer knocked, “Come in!” A voice said. We entered
       the dark depressing room.

“Turn on the light Steifer, will you.” The boss said. Then the
light flashed on. The boss was a short man, smoking a cigar, was
wearing a blue pinstripe-suite, and had a shiny bald head.
“I’m glad you could come.” He said smiling. “What kind of
job do you have for me?” I asked him. “Ah, you get right to the
point don’t you? We’d like to train you as a detective. That is
a higher rank than agent, but I believe you already know that?”
“Yes. I learned that in college.” I replied.
“So…What do you say? Is it a deal?” He asked. “I’ll do it if I
get paid and you let me have a friend or sidekick to help me.”
“Great! We’ll start on your training first thing in the morning.
Tomorrow based on your abilities, you will receive a new name.”
