Steve nods as Tony answers his question. Hm, banking,
not half-bad, as said before. The guy must make a fair amount of
money as well. It's strange how Bucky nor Rhodey had ever
introduced Tony to him until now. Seriously, Steve was really
starting to like Tony. Well, at least, he was starting to like
him as much as you could like someone upon just meeting. He was
a very good friend of Rhodey's, it's not like he could have been
that bad, right? Coming here was starting to seem less of a
mistake not.
Tony leans closer to him, chin in hand, elbow on table, and
Steve just grips his glass tighter, because, um, okay, he was
getting kinda... close. Oh well, it wasn't that big of a deal,
right? I mean, it's not like Tony was into him, right? Then
again, Bucky didn't seem like the bi type, but hey, he flirts
with guys more than girls. You're jumping to conclusions, Steve
decides, trying not to stare too long at Tony again. You really
need to stop doing that, he reminds himself right as Tony went
on talking about his job because, ah, here we go, talking about
how hot the waitress was. Okay, so maybe he really had been
jumping to conclusions.
Steve merely shrugs at Tony's question, not really having much
else to do or say about the matter. Yes, the girl had been quite
beautiful, but Steve wasn't very interested right now. Besides,
he found girls lovely, or radiant, or stunning before he found
them hot. He takes another sip of his beer, not really enthused
about this random change of subject. He notices Bucky's eyes
flashing over to him every know and again, smiling at him
encouragingly. What was that guy planning?

Tony smirks at Steve's response to the whole waitress regard --
it's a very good response, and a very promising one. Tony
gathers a got my eye on someone else kind of attitude from that
shrug, and he leans back a bit, raising his eyebrows a bit. "Of
course, you'd be the one to disagree to that. Chivalrous, you
are. Not that I'm making grand assumptions about you, or
anything." Okay, Tony's a hypocrite because he totally is, but
only because he's, like eighty-seven percent positive about his
particular assumption, and that's pretty damn good for guessing
games.
"So how is it," Tony starts, changing the subject, because
talking about jobs is really just, no, ugh. "That a guy like
that," he points to Bucky, "convinces a guy like you," to Steve,
"to go through the trouble of meeting a guy like me?" He points
to himself and his smile widens. "Unless, of course, you were
tricked and force to come here through a series of events
usually only performed by masochists and psychopaths." That's
Rhodey, casting a glare his way, Tony can feel it, but he
doesn't care, and Rhodey really doesn't either -- he's so used
to Tony's crap it's hardly even funny.

Steve's snapped out of his thoughts about why Bucky was
giving him such a strange smile (the sort of smile he gives him
on the blind dates he hates so much) but Tony speaking up again.
He turns to look back at him, confused about what the man was
saying. Disagree? Chivalrous? assumptions? What was this guy
going on about? What assumptions? He feels someone tap him with
their foot under the table, and he knows it's Bucky. What was
going on here? Was he missing something? It sure felt like he
was missing something, for all he did was shrug his shoulders
when being asked if he found the waitress to be hot.
Tony's then changing the subject, pointing around and asking
Steve how he got here to this point, sitting with a guy he
hardly knew on the said man's birthday. It was a very logical
question, and Steve actually finds himself stumbling to answer
it as quickly as he would have liked. "Well," he begins, looking
Tony in the surprisingly big, brown eyes. "Bucky said it would
mean a lot to him and Rhodey if I came," he goes on to say,
tapping his finger quietly against the glass of the beer. "So
here I am," he decides, giving a big downward sweep gesture to
himself, smiling again. "Besides," Steve continues, ""I'm not
usually the type of guy to let someone down." Steve gives Tony a
wink, joking around and, wow, has he already gotten to the point
of joking? And that last thing isn't entirely true, he let those
interviewers down tonight so he could meet Tony.
"Yeah, I was actually worried Cap wouldn't agree to coming at
first because he had interviews to go to, but the tricky devil
rescheduled them this morning," Busky adds, practically reading
Steve's mind as he takes a swig of his-- holy s*it, is Bucky
drinking scotch?
Oh boy, this is not going to end well....

Tony feels like he could flip-- here is Steve Rogers,
all gorgeous and charming and talking to Tony with another one
of those smiles of his, and that last thing, that last
thing he says (with a wink, no less!) is a pickup line if Tony's
ever heard one. Bucky cuts in, talking about the interviews
Steve had, and Tony can't stop grinning at that, because Steve
did that for him -- without even meeting him first!
Tony's not a fanboy, he swears. It's just that, you know, if
somebody famous walks into the bar he's in and sits down next to
him, he's bound to be a little excited, especially if they're
shoot-you-in-the-face-and-drop-dead beautiful. Which Steve is.
And it's awesome. "That so, huh?" Tony says smoothly, his
voice almost a purr, "Well, if you did all that for me,
hopefully I can make tonight worth your while." If I get to
see you naked I will die happy, Tony thinks giddily, bumping
his shoulder against Steve's and grinning at him. Then he eyes
Bucky's glass, looking as if he's mulling over something.
"Alright," he says suddenly, "I want tequila. We're doing
shots. Next round's on me. And you can't say no, it's my
birthday, I demand it. We're getting drunk and that is
final." He's not even done with his beer yet, but he
downs the rest in one go and flags down the same blonde to bring
them shots.

Steve thinks he understands everything that's going on
here, but he can't help but get that feeling that he doesn't.
Tony seems very happy about something he's doing or saying, and
he looks like girls do when you've just finished flirting with
them. Bucky, surely, would warn Steve's if he is giving Tony the
impression that he was flirting though, right? Perhaps not.
Believe it or not, Bucky's the type of guy who'd announce that
he's going to save the city and have it up in flames in under a
minute. His friend really isn't the type to help people out when
he says he will. Sure, he try's to, but it never completely
works out in the end.
Tony bumps his shoulder, and Steve chuckles lightly, not knowing
what else he should do. They're just playing around. Tony
doesn't seem like the type of guy to try to hit on him,
especially if he has read his book and keeps up with the news.
However, Tony also doesn't seem like they type of guy to request
tequila shots, but he was... right now... as they spoke. Steve
really needs to learn more about this guy. Then again, Tony also
needs to learn more about him and his drinking habits, because
shots-- no. Just no. Steve doesn't do shots.
"Now we're talking, Stark!" Bucky cheers before downing the rest
of his scotch as the waitress hands over the tequila and shot
glasses, brushing Steve's arm. He ignores it.
"Um, actually I--"
"Steve, don't even start, man," Bucky cuts in, rolling his eyes
as he pours himself a shot. "It's Tony's birthday, and he
demands that we get drunk, and this is the way to do it in a
few, ridiculous seconds!" He sets his shot glass down and fills
up Steve's for him. "Now stop being a p*ssy, and get ready to
drink!"
Steve stares at his glass at tequila for a few moments, unsure
before he looks at Tony and sighs. "Fine, I'll do it," he
mumbles, looking back at his drink and picking it up. Yes, he's
going to take shots and get drunk all because it's Tony's
birthday, but he wasn't going to get that drunk. He is still the
designated driver/walker.

Tony giggles serendipitously as the waitress brings
over their shot glasses, smiling at Bucky as he reacts
enthusiastically to the suggestion. Tony doesn't mind Bucky
calling him 'Stark' -- a few years ago, he'd tried to keep other
people's voices down when they were saying his last name, but
he's gotten a little looser about it since then. There are
plenty of Starks in the world, and if anybody does happen to
ask, he's Edward, not Anthony. Anyways... Steve doesn't seem too
keen on the idea of shots (neither does Rhodey, but only because
they completely destroy him. Right now he looks more amused by
the suggestion than repulsed by it, though), but, thankfully,
Bucky convinces him with a few choice words, and Tony laughs,
dragging his own shot glass over to him and filling it up,
deciding to do Rhodey's as well.
"Okay," Tony says, smiling. "Since some people apparently don't
do shots around here, here's how it works-- salt." Tony sucks on
the skin between his thumb and pointer finger, wetting it,
before he grabs a pinch of salt and sprinkles it on. "Lick it
off, take the shot, suck the lime." He holds up one of said lime
slices and then looks at Steve pointedly. "Okay? And then we can
all take it like men instead of sinking onto the floor in a pit
of bitter despair." Hey, nobody ever said tequila was good. It's
for fun, not for taste. Tony looks around, smirking, holding his
hand out in front of him, the other holding his shot glass.
"Everyone alright? Okay, good-- go."

Steve's still not completely on board with the idea of
doing shots as Tony goes over the instructions. Why couldn't
they just stick with their beers and just drink those and not
get drunk? That sounds much simpler. Of course, once Tony's
tells them to go, they start downing their shots. Rhodey does
two and stops there, Steve stops soon after him at three, still
wanting to keep his sanity in tact, Tony stops after that at
four, and then, just as Steve suspects, Bucky's last, stopping
after five. The man's got a serious tolerance to alcohol, and
it's a bit scary.
"F***, that was damn awesome!" he announces, slamming down his
empty glass on the table. Here's something you needed to know,
when Bucky gets drunk, he gets sleepy and very cursy. Steve, on
the other hand, just gets giddy and perhaps a bit horny, but
with only three glasses of tequila fueling him along with three
sips of beer, the horniness probably wasn't going to be very
noticeable. Until he gets home, that is. In the security of his
own room. Alone.
Steve chuckles and sets his glass down calmly on the table,
trying not to giggle because giggling was not his thing. "It was
pretty fun, huh?" he replies happily, feeling quite merry. "You
alright there, Tony?" he asks the man next to him, turning to
look at him and giving his arm a light swat. He feels great. Not
incredibly drunk, thank god, but great. Tonight had been great.
And you wanna know what else was great? Tony. Tony was great.
The guy was awesome and cool and funny and pretty darn good
looking for a dude. He was great. Greatgreatgreatgreatgreat.
Great.

{:: T O N Y ::}
Tony doesn't know why he's grinning so hard --
nothing is particularly funny, or pleasing, maybe except for the
warm body sitting next to him, but he's just. This is. Wow. Oh,
he's drunk. He counts the drink's he's had in his head,
calculates in his weight, and-- oh. Oh, yeah. He's very drunk,
actually, that's gotta be at least a .13, but he can't be
exactly sure, it's probably worse, he doesn't know. He's drunk.
Steve talking now, saying his name, asking if he's okay, wow,
Steve should say his name more, Steve is so attractive, god,
he's so damn attractive, Tony wants to drag him out back right
now but he's gotta get rid of his two other friends now (and now
Steve's his friend, too, just like that, or is that the alcohol?
Are you even supposed to sleep with your friends? Well, Tony's
gonna find out.) "'M okay," Tony says slowly, nodding. Suddenly,
he grabs for Steve's jacket, curling his fingers around one of
the lapels. "You're wearing a suit," he observes, grinning as he
looks up and meets Steve's eyes. "Who wears a suit to meet a
stranger?" He laughs, and then Rhodey cuts in with his drunken
babble (he has the alcohol tolerance of a squirrel, Tony
swears).
"I'll tell ya who," Rhodey says, slumping forward on the table.
"People who are respectful, respectful people who are easily
respected by people, and Steve is that person, so you should
respect him, Tony. Okay? And, listen, you wore a suit, you were
wearing a suit when you met Pepper, yeah? Probably the only
reason she started dating you, if you were wearing that stupid
shirt you're wearing now she wouldn't have given you a second
glance, actually--"
"Nooo, nonono no, I'm not talking about Pepper when I'm drunk
anymore, they throw me out after five minutes. And my shirt
isn't stupid." He looks down at the Black Sabbath tee, frowning
at it. "You just don't understand music."
"And you don't understand basic social--"
"Uuugh, no, nope, too drunk for this sh*t, Steve, come on, we're
leaving, scooch yer booch." He shoves Steve's arm lightly,
trying to slide out of the booth. He's too drunk to drink
anything else, anyways. No point staying here. And it's late,
it's like, ten o'clock, okay, not that late, but Tony knows
better than to stay here any longer.

Steve laughs as Tony tells him he's okay, fingers
grabbing at his jacket. Oh yeah, he was wearing a suit, wasn't
he? That's funny. Suits were funny... but nice. Just like
friends. Friends were funny, but nice too. Wasn't that neat?
Wasn't it neat how things could be more than one thing at once?
Kinda like with Steve right now, he's drunk, but also not that
drunk. He's happy, though. One hundred percent haaaapppyyyy.
Happy. Hm, it's still Tony's birthday. They needed to sing Happy
Birthday to him, like right now, but Rhodey's complementing his
suit right now and talking about pepper. Hey, Steve likes
pepper. Of course, he likes salt too, but pepper was his
favorite. It was better for you too, and stuff.
Next thing Steve knows, Tony's telling him that they're leaving,
shoving him a bit. Oh hey, was he taking Tony home? That was
probably best, the man looked pretty wrecked. Steve's still the
designated walker. Right. He slides out of the booth, taking
Tony's forearm and helping him up, laughing again at absolutely
nothing.
"Whoa, whoa, wait a f*cking second, f*cktards, you ain't going
no damn where without me!" Bucky somewhat slurs, getting to his
feet shakily before straightening out and reaching into his
wallet to pull out money for the drinks. It looks like he has
about fifty dollars out in fives and tens. He throws the money
up a few inches into the air, making it scatter all out all over
the table. "Making it rain, bit*hes!" he announces before
looking down at Rhodey. "Hey, f*cker, c'mon, it's time to leave
this f*cking bit*h behind," he continues, shaking Rhodey lightly
before staggering over to Steve and Tony, walking approving as
he adjusted. "Damn, I'm wasted."
Steve snorts, covering his mouth up with a hand quickly before
nodding slowly. "I think we all are," he agrees before looking
back at Tony and lowering his hand, offering him a very happy
smile. "Uh, mind leading the way, Tony, I don't really know
where you live," he explains, a faint blush of embarrassment
creeping into his cheeks before he laughs again. He hopes the
walk wasn't that far away, he doesn't want anyone passing out on
the way there.

Tony grins as Steve helps him up, the hand on his arm
big and warm and, greeeat, Tony actually doesn't know how long
he's going to be able to go without kissing this jerk if he
doesn't stop touching him. Eventually, he does stop, to Tony's
great relief, after Bucky's done dragging Rhodey out of the
booth, groaning about not being able to see straight. Of course,
Tony's a little frustrated at the company that's being forced up
him; he really just needs to drag Steve someplace secluded and
jump on, but he won't be able to do that if he's got two pair of
eyes watching him the whole time.
When Steve asks Tony to lead the way, a light blush creeping up
on his cheeks, Tony just stares for a moment. Oh, sh*t, Steve
blushes? Is that even a thing that normal people do? Is this guy
even real? F*ck, he's cute and hot. Tony is so screwed.
Hopefully literally. "Um," he says slowly, trying to process
Steve's face before he processes words. "Okay. Yeah. Okay. Walk.
Live. I live... a few blocks... okay, let's go."
"You are not getting any of that," Rhodey grumbles as they
stumble out into the night air, right next to Tony's ear. Tony
groans quietly, rolling his eyes. "Look, no, because he's
famous, and he's got standards, Tony, 'kay? And there's no way
that he's -- he's probably straight, actually, I think he is,
that would make--"
"No, sugar pop, that wouldn't make an ounce of sense," Tony
mutters, The first thing he did was buy me a drink, he's been
smiling at me all night, he's walking me home."
"We're all walking you home. Guys who are drunk as f*ck need to
stick together, y'know, you can't just-- no, no, no." In the
middle of Rhodey's rambling, Tony had tried to lean against
Rhodey's shoulder, because he's dizzy, he needs to lie down. In
a bed. With Steve. "No, Tony, if you lean on me, you will push
me over, I swear to god, if you try I will throw up on you,
don't even."
Tony scoffs. "Fiiiine," he sighs, shoving Rhodey's shoulder and
then dropping back a little to walk beside Steve, the very guy
he'd just been whispering about. "Hey there, gummy bear," he
says. "Can I lean on you? Rhodey threatened to projectile vomit
on my shoes. I like these shoes."
