Possible Cool Feature?

Hey ya'll,
You guys know I don't particularly care about the ins and outs
of the game, as there's just too much stuff to digest in regards
to weapons and attachments.
That being said, I know that some of you are really good about
knowing the damage profiles of the guns, and damage fall off
ranges, etc, etc. While I'm good with numbers, I am NOT good
with Call of Duty and how they measure things, as well as things
like frame rounding, etc, etc. I just pick a gun, and go to
town.
I think we have a chance to make a name for ourselves, as a
site, if we do something like DenKirson forums used to do:
publish our own gun guides. For some reason, this crop of
players seem to really, really know about the stats of guns, and
what each attachment does versus what it says it does. It makes
me miss the BO2 days where all guns had the same attachments,
with the attachment guide (those little red and green squares)
being absolutely useless. That thing was never, ever correct.
Remember the great "foregrip debate" during BO2? What a mess.
Anyhow, I can help as far as running numbers, or being a stand
in body to kill during a custom match in order to get our
values. This is very similar to what ace and Drift0r do, but I
would like to create our own stats instead of leaning on Ace and
his buddy to always be correct.
What do you guys think? Dumb idea, or potentially good idea?

Potentially good idea. I'm curious to see who dares to do that.

It is a good idea. I cannot contribute with numbers or specific
data about a specific attachment but I can share my observations
when I am in the Gunsmith changing and trying attachments.

I like the idea and have created a new board :)
i know nothing about this side of things so will leave to the
more knowledgeable to post.
Posts on individual guns will probably require merging by mods
(i.e. you LOL) to make a comprehensive topic for each gun but I
don't see that being a problem.

I am all for it, even assisting by volunteering my time in
private matches to test stuff..
BUT
The thing I hear eXclusiveAce complain about most, is that after
all the work he does, a few days later they do a 'weapon
balance' which totally renders all his data inaccurate and so
while it may be valuable, imagine if you tested every attachment
(SOCOM rounds vs. M4 regular rounds, SOCOM with Stopping Power
vs. M4 9mm rounds, there are about 10 more variations to test
with just the M4 ammunition, because you need to test the damage
profile for headshots vs. torso, versus limbs.. all that) Not
trying to put a damper on things, I'm just saying it's a LOT of
work and a LOT of data, just to log in tomorrow and find out
they nerfed this or shadow nerfed that, or buffed this, or
shadow buffed that etc...
I'm still willing to help, just saying none of it may be
relevant after Feb 11th's Season 2 start. (Or any random Tuesday
that they decide to tweak stuff)
EDIT: The most obvious solution would be to get back-end data
from someone at IW or ACTV
Someone went to great lengths to make this for COD4 and it may
have been obsolete the very next day:

You know, I do recall Ace saying that, and remember saying to
myself, in my head, "so, why do it at all if it may be changed
without any warning?" I am glad you brought that up because it
managed to skip across my radar as I was posting that. I'm
usually pretty good about not posting potentially problematic
suggestions, but I failed on this one.
Guys/Gals, I hate to say this, but I don't think it's worth any
of our time to do this now. Seriously, we have Ace and Drift0r,
and we can always use their information as a starting point, and
only test things that we feel does not match up to our
experiences. I'm just trying to find ways to drive traffic here,
and have this become the unofficial forum for both, discussion,
and support, for Call of Duty, while stressing our
non-affiliation with Activision, Infinity Ward, Treyarch, or any
other subsidiary of Activision.

That is pretty cool and kudos to whoever spent their time making
it, but apart from the names of the guns I have no clue what it
means LOL
If we get it up and running we can have a fluid system where
when data changes we can update and modify the individual gun
topics.
Will need some thought as to the best way to implement it but
will give the Mods something to do as they are just twiddling
their thumbs at the moment LOL

At least a how to how the stats in cod work.
Why fmj doesn't kill quicker for example.
