       Direction of shots
By: Gordontonio Date: February 4, 2020, 1:15 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I kind of turn green of envy when I read about people who can
determine where the direction an enemy is coming from based only
on his footsteps. Or when I see enemies that can turn towards
the direction they are being shot at. I do not rely nor use the
mini-map due to my tunnel vision. My peripheral vision is null
so if I move my sight from the centre of the screen to take a
glance at the mini-map chances are high that I will get killed.
Another example is taking a look at the amount of ammo left.
What tips do you have that can make turning towards someone
       shooting at you easier?

Headophones, crank up the volume and sensitivity on 18-20. I
hardly use the minimap so I am aware on sound, at times I turn
360 just to see if it's the step of a blue dot, if not, lock
       and load

I agree, headsets are the key here (although they can still
       sometimes let you down!!).
Some headsets have superhuman hearing and/or footstep focus
which removes a lot of the background noise and allows you to
focus, but I don't like the general sound of the game on these
       settings so rarely use them.

I'm right there with you, Gordontonio. A few years back, I asked
the question in the old forums whether or not there is a real
advantage to be had if I were to upgrade (invest) to a new set
of headphones. At the time, I was using those $30 Turtle Beach,
starter edition basically. Prior to that, though, I had used the
Turtle Beach Pro Edition that was wireless, and guess what, I
couldn't find people via footsteps then, either. Right now, I'm
playing with a set of Bose Earbuds plugged into the controller,
and I still can't discern direction. I had a pair of those intro
level Astro A50s, during IW, and those things were seriously
heavy, with a long ass cord that always got rolled into the
rollers on my chair (regular office chair, not some dx racer pro
gaming rig, lol), and were no better or worse than anything else
I had tried up to that point. The funny thing is that I have
extremely keen hearing, so it frustrates me when I can't get a
       directional beat on people.
I seriously think you could be my long lost twin, if you'd bitch
more about connections, lol. I, too, am terrible about checking
the mini-map, using my personal radar, etc, etc. I see bullets
flying and head that way. Plain and simple.
Then again, I am rocking like a .88 KD right now, so.....

Whisky Tango Foxtrot! I would be jumping around and cartwheeling
if I had a 0.88 KD! Mine is currently 0.5, way up from the 0.07
I had the first month after the game was released. ;D
A thank you to everyone that suggested using headphones. My
headphones are not top of the line but they are not cheap ones
either. I only use headphones to not disturb my neighbours late
at night or very early in the morning. Besides footsteps, is it
possible to determine the direction of firing using headphones?

I'll be honest, even though I cannot pinpoint things like
footsteps or gunfire, I can get a general idea of where shots
are coming from simply using my earbuds. Even though I'm using
my good set right now, I've always been able to tell which side
things like AI call-outs, and gunfire is coming from.
If nobody has mentioned this before, make sure to lower the
"Music" volume as low as it can go. I think you can actually
turn it off. Trust me, do this. You'll still hear explosions,
and chatter, but you won't hear the terrible soundtrack playing
       in the back.

My problem is more my bad aim. Lol.
Have had different headsets. Even sound going to stereo set.
One day it was great other day I would hear mostly the
background noise. Some maps have at least for me annoying back
       ground noise.

Dtuchpunk, have you ever used Kontrol Freaks? I know, "a lot of
YouYube dorks promote them, so you probably don't want them,
lol", but I would highly, highly suggest giving them a try. I
used to be a spray and pray type of player, then I got some
Kontrol Freaks for the heck of it, and turned into one of those
accuracy nutjobs. I just wish my CoD Companion App properly
tracked accuracy, because it has me at 20% accuracy with every
single gun, including ones I've never used.

Sometimes it's not a good idea to turn around to see who's
shooting at you. If you see that red hit indicator behind you,
try getting behind cover. Then try spotting them once it's safe.
Turning around in the open is suicide, especially when someone
already has a shot on you.
I don't tend to look at my ammo. I just reload a lot. Slieght of
hand is a go to perk for all weapons I use except AX50.

I hate admitting this, because I know it's one of the golden
rules of CoD, "Don't try to follow someone and don't turn
around", but Shipment has me doing really, really stupid shit. I
have won more gunfights from spinning around, and capping
someone with my Kar98 in the head than I care to admit.
