Clan wars, when clan tags meant something!
By: Triumph-Rat Date: January 31, 2020, 12:18 pm

Anyone remember the days of Clan Wars?
When having a clan tag meant you had either started or been
invited to a clan.
Waiting for the night of the battle to see who you were going to
be pitted against.
When names such as FAZE, HAZE and W33D were things you aspired
to be invited to instead of any spotty little brat being able to
use it as their clan tag when the reality is they couldn't hit a
cow's arse with a banjo!!
Ahhhh, the good old days.
Back in a bit, just going to buy a pipe and some slippers :)

I have never been in a clan. I used the tag NONE in Black Ops 4.
My clan tag as of today is N362 (N for Noob or None, Career
level 362). I change the clan tag for fun mainly.

Our old competetive clan had a big falling out over leadership
and split into two.
I didn't want to choose between them and so have been MWNC (Man
With No Clan) ever since.
Ironically during Ghosts people started joining before I figured
out how to make it private so I had to kick them or the clan had
no meaning LOL

I like that MWNC acronym. I might use it in the future. I
thought the value you set your clan to did not really matter and
it is there just for fun. Do do you have to create a clan
specifically? Does a plan get created when you put a different
value in that setting?

I got into to a clan back in the days of COD4, our tag was A$BO,
we played matches on PS3 leaderboards and then moved on to
gamebattles. From COD4 until MW3 we were a pretty good team.
Eventually the team disbanded due to the sheer grind and BS of
arranging matches and playing on various ladders against idiots
who disputed every match.
To this day I cannot recreate the heart pounding pressure of
playing S&D with the whole lobby watching.
I wouldn't want to do clan matches anymore as it's a younger
mans game, but I miss being in a squad, we got a 70 TDM win
streak on MW3 (No SBMM)
On MW now it's 1 win 1 loss....

No, back in the day you could create your own clan (provided
nobody else had that name) and only people you invited could use
it.
Then after clan wars they changed it so you could pick any tag
you wanted as it is now.
I can now claim to be in Faze, whereas I wouldn't be able to do
that in the past unless i was actually a member.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who has never been in a
clan. However, in-game, I have always rocked [Solo] as my clan
tag, and surprisingly, I have come across very, very, very few
people doing the same. I always, ALWAYS, hated Clan War weekends
or events when they came up in CoD Ghost. I have no idea how in
the hell someone not in a party, like myself, which obviously
meant that I was not part of the clan wars going on, ended up as
an extra on so many random clans for a match or two. Clan Wars,
for me, meant one thing: the weekend was going to be miserable,
and I was going to get my ass kicked repeatedly.
While we're talking about clans, is it okay for me to give a
shout-out to the biggest douche-bag clan tag users I've ever met
since BO3? If you see anyone with [rBO3], [rWW2], or [rBO4],
consider yourself warned. They don't really know each other, but
use the small r to "represent" Reddit, and my goodness are they
the douchiest group of idiots when they find another user
rocking the Reddit clan tag. It's like they're six years old,
and are seeing their friend out at the mall for the first time.
This is usually followed by the obligatory go prone, stand up,
jump around, start spinning, and follow each other, all during
the pre-match countdown. Sorry, I don't want to change the
subject, but seriously, screw those guys.

I was in a clan for a while, I think during BO3/MW3. Our tag
was OGWG...Old Guys With Guns. We were all members of a forum
by the same name. We weren't very active or competitive, but it
was still nice to be able to play with someone you "knew" once
in a while.
