       Custom Mods and Custom Loadouts
By: Gordontonio Date: January 28, 2020, 6:23 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Modern Warfare 2019 gave us 5 custom loadouts when it was
launched. This January 2020 patch increased the number of
available custom loadouts to 10. I only use 3 loadouts max
       though.
When I find a combination of attachments improving noticeably
the performance of a weapon I save it as a Custom Mod. This
Custom Mod is saved in the Armory, where I can load it from to
       any custom loadout when needed.
Be aware that the option to save a Custom Mod is not available
until you have levelled up the weapon a bit. This option becomes
active at level 8 or 9 for most weapons. The lowest value where
I have seen it happen is 7, the highest value has been 11.

I only use one now, AX50 with MP5, possibly soon to be MP7.
I wonder how many players knew you could change your loadout
during matches 🤔. A feature that would've been very nice
       to have in previous CoDs.

Do you mean change? Or edit?
You could always change but not edit

Edit. Yes that's a better word to use. I think at the time of
posting I was making sure I didn't say switch haha. Although I'm
sure there are some toolboxes out there that didn't even know
you could switch/change your loadouts during a match.

I am confused now. The way I see it: I can change from loadout X
to loadout Y during the match but I cannot edit the contents of
any loadout during the match. Does it make sense this way?

You can change from loadout X to loadout Y. You can also edit
any of the custom loadouts during a match. To the right of each
loadout will be an edit button. Sooo if you unlocked one of the
hundred optics and wanted to try different ones, you can go in
as if you were going to change a loadout and just edit your
current one and switch optics if you wanted. The only thing you
can't edit is killstreaks, and I think your, omg wtf is it
called.....uhh where you press L1 and R1 to activate dead
silence or whatever you have. Not sure that can be changed.

Really? I remember wanting to change the reticle after the match
had started and I could not find how. I will check again. Thanks
       for the tip.

You can't do reticles and camo's in match because that has to be
done in the gunsmith but you can change optics etc.

I quickly used up the add’l 5 slots as soon as they were
       available lol.
What I have found is that, for me, it is better to have loadouts
for specific maps. For instance, my fav loadout—I copied/pasted
it and changed from killstreaks to specialist since I use care
packages and hardline (meaning i only need 3 kills to get a cp)
but this was problematic on smaller fast-paced maps like
shipment/shoothouse because I didnt have the time/hiding space
to actually recover a cp w/o dying multiple times and having it
stolen by friendlies and enemies. But w/ specialist on shipment
I can have up to 6 perks instead of worrying about trying to use
killstreaks that i either cant earn because dying too fast or
cant use because its too cramped. Waiting for a cp to finally
land seems like a full 5 minutes on shoothouse/shipment.
For vacant, I use Specialist for diff reason: Mostly because if
I get something good from a carepackage like VTOL, guess what?
Everyone is inside (useless) but if I earn a cp while holding
down the main hallway (between office and large bathroom) then I
die several times trying to make it outside (while enemies are
trying to get inside) and even if i spend 3 minutes and 3 deaths
making it outside, the spawns flip and yep, you guessed it,
enemies are inside and i get a useless cruise missile and not
only miss everyone inside, i get shot while using it. So yeah, I
have some loadouts specifically for maps, not necessarily
because I like 10 diff weapons.
Rammaza is one of my favorite maps because I can do well using
       pretty much any loadout.

Same reasons why I have one loadout for Shipment, another
loadout for Shoot House, and my third one is for all other maps
       or Hardpoint/Headquarters matches.
I used a launcher when I began to play matches in Shipment. I
was getting killed more easily than usual when shooting at
airborne killstreaks, I was getting killed trying to get to care
packages, and I could not kill enemies while I was getting
killed so I changed my approach and got rid of the launcher and
started to not worry about getting care packages. I set my
killstreaks to VTOL Jet, Chopper Gunner (because of the officer
challenge that I won't complete it seems) and Support Helo. That
is what I say that I play as a de facto specialist in Shipment
because when the specialist mode is not active the threshold is
high enough for me because I get killed before reaching it. I
have called only one Chopper Gunner since I started using this
       tactic several weeks ago. :)
Rammaza is good for shoot aerial killstreaks down. ;D
