Different chests

I noticed that there are at least 3 types of chests.
- the regular grey/bleu chests the most common.
- the scavenger contract chest. They only appear when doing
contract.
- orange chests. Those will always give an epic weapon. Got a
grenade launcher 2 times from orange chest. Works great against
cars. And other epic weapons
Next time I play I will keep an eye out if there are more
variants.

You are quite lucky because I have much more time played and
have yet to find a grenade launcher.
They are reported to be the rarest and most OP weapon that can
be found in Verdansk.
Well done!
Any particular areas you can recall finding them? (Just trying
to see if both were near each other)

First one on top building in downtown.
Other one in/nearby quarry.
Both orange chests.
But I usely get the pkm fire hose from orange chests.
And it may be that in plunder you get more weapons.

Got 3 more. 1 not from chest.
It may have to do with the perk tune up or that plunder has
different frequencies of loot drops
