Yeah this is where me and my grown son differ.
I can look at my FFA k/d and feel good about it (its around 1.13
       or something)
But I was mentioning how my k/d took a nosedive while trying to
get 7 molotov kills and he said thats why he doesnt go for
challenges or even gold camos because his k/d would suffer. His
overall is 1.15, (mine is .99) but like you hinted at, his would
be like ours if he went for mounted kills, hip fire kills, no
       attachment kills, pistol challenges etc...
I look at it this way: What was yours and my k/d in BLOPS II or
BF3? Exactly, no one remembers no one cares.
And a high k/d wont get you a free refill on your coffee.

       Bang on!!
Unfortunately it means I don't play with friends often as I am
always doing some random challenge that means I get rinsed and I
can't justify bringing their W/L or whatever down with me :-\

Yeah half the time I don't join people because they are playing
S&D and I probably wouldn't "do it right" or whatever.
I had people on my team getting on to me because I planted the
bomb "too early". I mean, now I understand the strategy, because
if there are 5 enemies left, they can simply defuse it and win
easily. But at the time, i didn't understand this subtle
nuance--I thought the point was to arm the objective and defend
it. But anyway... there always seems to be someone critiquing
something. I can be the last man alive and I'm at bomb A instead
of bomb B (seems like a 50/50 chance to me, but somehow I'm at
       the wrong bomb site) meh...
If people would spend more time explaining how to play these
niche objective modes instead of complaining/critiquing, then
they would have less time waiting for lobbies to fill.
But you can always join me at any time, any mode---problem is,
I'm usually in FFA which won't let others join... but I'm always
willing to leave and go play TDM or Gunfight, whatever...
hit me up any time. (I realize out timezones don't usually align
except for 6-8am my time, and you're probably getting ready to
power down for the evening, but if you see me, message me, I
will enable cross-play and we can have a go at whatever).

Mounted kills are the worst to get for me. Its either get into a
lobby with a good team or watch as your K/D sinks as the other
team eviscerates yours because they have the spawns memorized
like the back of their hands.

This is against the thread's topic. But as long as you don't
mind getting killed often... Get your mounted kills in Shipment,
       preferably in Hardpoint matches.

I prefer doing them on Shoot House (centre wall to centre wall
is also a longshot) and Rust (boxes between square building at
end of pipes and blue container also count as longshots to stand
alone yellow building, tower and gap by A in Dom)

True. I have gotten some longshots where you describe in Shoot
House. Another location in Shoot House where I have gotten long
shots is from the office to the corner where the entrance to the
containers is. The oddity is that I get killed more often than
not while I am mounting my rifle by a sniper shooting from the
other wall in the middle lane. The big irony is that I don't
mind when I get shot in Shipment. ;D
