I am still far away from Damascus but I am 21 MP5 longshots shy
from getting all the original SMGs gold. The only not golden one
will be the Striker 45. I have read that in order to unlock the
Damascus camos you just have to get the originally released
weapons gold. Does this mean that I will unlock the Platinum
camo for the SMGs once I complete the challenge for the MP5?

Yes, but you will still need to get the Striker gold to be able
to attach it to that.

Eventually got the launchers finished
I thought I had completed the RPG but hadn't
Took ages to get the last 5 support killstreak though
Now just the knife to play with
Normally play hardcore, but think I will drop into core for the
knife so I am not shot once and dead

Have you noticed that there is now an Obsidian camo?
Found it yesterday, 15 kills in 150 matches per gun, 200 matches
for AR, haven't looked at knife and stuff so not sure on that.
Gutted, thought I had finished LOL

Yeah, have seen the Obsidian lol
Just giving people something else to grind for I suppose
Working on that now, although the Damascus definitely looks
better
Especially now I have finally got it!!!
The knife was probably the most fun I have had for a while
Went into core free for all, and quite often won with just the
knife and a shield on my back

I finally unlocked the gold camo for the MP5. I promptly added
the charm that means "Do Not Use" as soon as the match ended.
:-) This weapon was a good source of frustration.

My trek to Damascus cleared a big hurdle tonight. Not that I am
much closer but I finally got the longshots needed to unlock its
gold camo. Chances are that I am not going to use this rifle
again unless a challenge calls for its use and I decide to
complete it. I have 3 assault rifles left to get gold: FR 5.56,
Oden and FN Scar 17. I could have only one left since I already
did the RAM-7 and Grau, before learning that those are not
needed to get Damascus. Oh well...

Damascus is getting closer now that I finally cleared the
obstacle I was not looking forward to: Both knife and shield are
now Platinum. Also, all non-DLC handguns are ready to become
Platinum when I get the missing longshots. All other challenges
for the handguns are done.

You'll soon be there
The Obsidian ones just seem to take forever
Launchers all done
Trying to use a different gun type each game where I can, to
steadily work through as many as possible
