Other Hobbies Non-Gaming Related?
By: mygamertagsucks Date: February 15, 2020, 5:18 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
So, I asked this back on the Activision forums, but figured it'd
be nice to ask here, as well since we have some new, and
awesome, posters. I am curious what type of hobbies you have
that does not involve gaming. I remember what some of you said,
but let's share it all again.
So, my Non-Gaming hobbies are what most would consider boring as
hell. I am a calligrapher, and can write in all types of
calligraphy styles, but I am self-taught. My favorite script to
write in is Copperplate/Engravers Script, and Spencerian. I like
the pointed pen styles because they are hard to do. Almost
everybody can do italic, or gothic, but I believe pointed pen
takes the most skill.
So, sometimes my shades do not look as crisp as someone like
Joe Vitolo. Even though I am an amateur calligrapher, this is
about the time of year I start getting requests from families my
parents know, asking me to address their envelopes. Believe it
or not, people can make a killing doing this, but I do it for
fun. Also, fun fact about calligraphy; the professional scene is
dominated primarily by men. Look on YouTube at the work Paul
Antonio Jr does. I think he's probably the best in the business
right now. Michael Sull, who used to be Ronald Reagan's personal
calligrapher, is a genius as well. Dr. Joe Vitolo, in my
opinion, is kind of a turd.
My other main hobby is walking my dog. She's my baby, and gets
what she wants. She's also a beagle, and should be exercised for
at least 15 minutes, twice a day. Most people here don't know
this, but I was in a wreck that caused extensive damage to my
back. From L3/L4, all the way to S2, I have herniated discs of
varying degrees. This makes it extremely difficult, and painful,
for me to walk. Due to my past, younger, years, I do not use
traditional painkillers or drugs for my pain. I will take
Tylenol, or Motrin, but I don't trust myself around narcotics
due to how much I loved being on them in my early 20s. I'm not
writing a memoir here, but suffice it to say, there were nights
I probably shouldn't have survived due to sheer stupidity. I had
never smoked pot a day in my life, and all of a sudden, I'm
being handed powerful opiates, in large quantities, with
refills? That was a recipe for disaster. Thank God I got away
from all of that because it could have gotten really, really
bad, seeing as how my condition would warrant the use of any
painkiller on the market. I'm just telling everybody about this
because it's hard for me to walk my dog, yet I manage a mile and
a half every single day, thanks to her. I never was a walker,
and hated the idea of taking walks. Now, it's almost a Zen like
thing to do.
So, what are your hobbies? Feel free to include any life
stories, like I did, if you feel like it.

My wife and I walked the dogs yesterday even though it was
colder than we realized and the dirt road was muddy from
snow-melt. The dogs enjoyed it because it had been a few weeks
(due to busy schedules, bad weather, laziness and as you alluded
to, sciatica nerve pain from herniated discs)
I feel u on the pain pills. I have a few hundred that ive been
holding onto for the great tribulation/apocalypse. But I dont
use them. I dont actually like how they make me feel, and they
never really touched my back pain anyway. I liked certain
strains of Kratom better, but even that became too regular. So
now I dont take anything unless its really flaring up then i
have flexoril (muscle relaxer). Problem with those is I have to
be in for the night since I shouldnt drive on them.
Regarding hobbies, unfortunately its just watching yoo-tube on
my tv w/ roku (typically i watch either surfing videos or
political stuff)
I guess I’m not very exciting. :)
Its CoD, school work, or yt videos.

Fishing for me
Since we moved closer to the sea 10 years ago, it would be rude
not to fish
Had a small boat but sold it, but still go out on my mate's most
weekends
If the weather is too bad (storm after storm) it's fly fishing,
carp fishing or get the air rifles outfit a change

For me I used to love hunting for pigeon, duck, pheasant, goose
(never hunt anything I wouldn't eat!!) but land to shoot over is
so hard to find here I gave up.
Love sea fishing from boats and used to do it regularly when I
lived in Devon, even crewed a few charter boats but live too far
from the sea now for it to be feasible.
Nowadays (unfortunately) most of my time and money is tied up in
keeping my old VW campervan on the road LOL

I love to fish, but where I currently live it’s not very
conducive to fishing.
When I lived in FL, I used to wade the grass flats for trout and
reds, as well as freshwater for bass.

A bit of 3d designing and 3d printing.
When it's a bit warmer and less windy I enjoy fishing.
Some feeder fishing on carp and bream mostly

I watched the walking dead.for a lot of seasons. But I stopped
because I think it became to boring and long-winded(Hope Google
translate did a good job there)
And it became a bit predictable

It got a little bit boring after the main character left mid
season 9. But right now it´s amazing again. IMO :)

I forgot... I collect old bmx bikes from late 70’s/early 80’s.
Anyone want to donate their old mongoose? Hutch, Schwinn
Scrambler, JMC, Diamondback, or some old parts? Skyway Tuff
wheels, Motomags, vinyl pad set...
:D
Questions:
Which bmx bike did you have?
Which one did you always want?
Did you ever enter any local races?
