Not a clan tag in my case. A player in one of my matches last
week had a purple name tag. He turned out to be a teammate. Why
was the name tag purple? I have no clue.

Now if you click the same link above it has been updated to read
“Fixed in a future update”
So I guess they have identified and fixed it, but have not
rolled out the fix to us yet. Hopefully a hot-fix will be
imminent.
Ive read somewhere ppl using KB&M can edit their clan tag color,
but I think that is a whole separate issue than the person’s
player name changing color.
Seeing a blue name and not shooting them is game breaking. A
black clan tag is merely annoying.

Ok, I've seen several purple clan tags now. All had the correct
color to distinguish what team they were on, but their clan tag
was purple during matches, which was a little annoying. It was
making me hesitate a little at first seeing the purple in their
name. Now if I see a purple clan tag, after the match starts
I'll see what team they're on so I know if I should blast away
or let em go.

Why in the game period? What does it add? Besides frustrations.
