I Can't Go Positive on Rust.

Okay, even though I don't give a damn about my stats, I'm
getting really fed up going double negative on Rust all the
time. Even when I feel like I had a good game, I either just
barely went positive, went even, or went negative by less than
5.
I know the map is small, but so was Shipment, and I could hold a
steady 1.5-2.0 KD on it. I legitimately have no idea how to play
this map. If I'm not spawn trapped, I'm getting blasted by
enemies I can't see.
Oh, and let's not forget, if I make the mistake of running up to
the giant structure in the middle, and jump on one of those
pipes, my ass is stuck there trying to find a way out, crouch
walking the entire time. It's funny, but it's also a real
piss-off. It doesn't keep me from playing the map, but I need to
know what the strategy is for a solo player, because everything
I've tried has been a miserable failure.

Welcome to the club! If going positive means that you have more
kills than deaths then I have never gone positive in Rust
although my number of kills is slowly increasing. Keep running
around learning the layout and where players like to just crouch
and stay there until killed. >:(

I kind of wish I had played the old Rust, so I would be more
familiar with its layout. I played a version of it in Infinite
Warfare, and that was my first, and only, exposure to Rust, but
it didn't look or play like this.
Do you ever find yourself not knowing which side of the map you
are on, even though there are landmarks on each side? Maybe I'm
the only one, but when I spawn in, I legitimately have to look
left and right (and hope I don't die while doing so), and
sometimes up, all just to get my bearings.
Like you, my kill count is going up, but my death count isn't
going down. It's frustrating.

Sure, that disoriented feel happens far less than in Shipment
but it happens. I experienced it yesterday a couple of times. I
spawned and I could not figure out where in the map I was until
I ran a few seconds and got my bearings.
