How is Rust?

So, I'm curious, how is Rust? For those of you who played this
map in its first iteration, are the spawns and shit the same?
The first time I played this map was in the Infinite Warfare
cycle, and it was obvious that some players knew exactly where
others were going to be. However, due to the "rigs", you were
able to break free of traps.
Basically, when I hop on to play, should I expect to get my
balls stomped by the OGs?

The game has been downloading for more than 6 hours now and i
still have 1.5 hours left according to the download screen. I
have no idea how Rust is but I am curious about it now that you
mentioned that there were spawn traps in it previously. It kind
of sounds like Shipment. ;D

Damn, I feel bad that this update is taking so long for you
guys. Are you downloading on wifi or hardwired, and are there
many devices on your network?

Not sure about you guys, but I'm getting my ass handed to me on
Rust. I can't figure it out.

It is not fast-paced as Shipment can easily get but I am not
disliking it. Learning and getting used to the layout will take
a lot of matches in it. I have reached the same dead end in
every match I have played so far. :) Changing the reticle from
a red one to a green one seems to help me due to the lighting
conditions. I even managed to get a mounted kill in these
"scouting" matches. I will give the blue reticle a try. The
Strela launcher might have gotten a buff. I shot a personal
radar down and the hit happened so fast that I felt like that
"Minor Accident" calling card. :D

I agree, it takes some learning. Ive always been one for taking
my lumps while learning, and never believed in "easy mode" or
"safe spaces", so I'm glad I got my ass kicked the first 5 or 6
times I played. I turned things around once I realized that the
best way to deal with chaos is to embrace the chaos and be
chaotic myself.
It's nothing like shipment, aside from the square layout, but it
can play like shipment in modes like Hardpoint or Domination.
The spawns, I'm sorry to say, are actually pretty shit. I had
quite a few times where I'd kill someone, then get popped in the
back of the head by someone spawning in.
I'm not excusing my shitty performance, at all, but I am trying
to unlock all of the reticles, and I'm on the one where you have
to use the NV something or other (like a thermal but shittier
and in color), and that didn't help things. Once I started
running around with my P90, with the regular site and a good
setup, I turned things around pretty quickly.
PS: I went 15-39 in my first game- an in progress match of
Hardpoint, with scorestreaks raining down on me, lol. I took it
on the chin, like a champ. My final game, I think I was able to
go double positive in Domination by capping everything I could,
and just running around like crazy. Seriously, take the high
ground if you want, but the real killing action takes place on
the ground, although it is pretty fun to pick people off from
the highest point possible. Just remember: We DO take fall
damage in this game.

Every one seems to be going to the middle structure in TDM?
players were actually trying to camp!
It looks great though :D I just hope people play it the way it
was designed originally.
The safe space crew from IW seem to be influencing players.
Spawns are crap but early days.

I really have problems to even see enemies on Rust. Cant explain
it, but I just dont see them !? Used different optics for sure,
but if you dont see them it makes no sense at all.

I have been having the same issue. Both friends and foes blend
with the sandy environment. Switching to the Summoner reticle
helped me a bit while I was using a holo sight. I am considering
to give the Recon perk another try.
