How to read the weapon stats

On the old forum we got the question why fmj didn't kill quicker
whillest the damage stat did go up.
1. The stats are class based.
2. Stats aren't hard facts.
- fmj boosted the damage stat. Damage doesn't go up. You loose
less damage shooting through cover. (It does do more damage
against streaks/rewards)
2. Sights boost accuracy. It doesn't mean the spread gets
smaller.
It means you can see/aim better. And that is even personal
preference.
3. Some Devs will say a stock/quick draw will increase accuracy
to. Your gun doesn't get more accurate. You can aim down sight
quicker.
4. Grip boost accuracy stat. It will give you less recoil.
But that can make it harder. It can be without stock when you
shoot center mass. Due to recoil nozzle will rise and you get
easy headshots. With stock less nozzle rise and you won't get
headshots that easy.
And you may find the stock recoil easier to control than less
recoil. (That you will over compensate.
If anyone has something to add tell me.

The FMJ is, by far, the most misunderstood attachment, and no
matter how you explain it to someone, they will find a way to
misunderstand us. One thing that kind of muddied up the water in
years past was the damage it would do if you put on a ballistic
vest. The way it's coded, the vests are equipment. It's easy to
see why people don't understand why it doesn't kill someone with
a vest on quicker.
FMJ is only good for wallbanging, and sometimes taking out
scorestreaks.
One thing worth mentioning is what a suppressor does, and does
not do. Admittedly, I'm still unsure. I know it keeps you off
the mini-map but I dont know, for sure, if they affect damage,
or range.

Suppressor is like fmj a wierd one.
Not sure either. It may be that is was different in different
cods.
Have seen/heard/read that isn't reduce damage. But also that
range/damage drop off changes.

Yeah the description for FMJ is deceptive. It says increased
damage against equipment and killstreaks. Which is why I never
used it for months. I remember it helping shoot through some
walls and other various cover (barrels etc) but I didnt
associate walls as being “equipment” (I mean, who would?). It
would have been much clearer to say “Provides additional damage
through most cover, equipment and killstreaks”
Aside: when it lists “killstreaks” it is pretty irrelevant
against the things you would normally tale the time to shoot
like Juggernauts (useless) and Wheelsons (useless).

Here comes your afternoon laugh... I didn't know what FMJ stood
for or it was when I was first told to use it in Black Ops 4
back in early September 2019. :o I know now that it stands for
Full Metal Jacket, and yes it increases damage per bullet. :)
I can see how its use can be misunderstood easily based on my
experiences and observations in Shoot House. True, the damage
increase is not like night and day. The results from adding this
perk to a handgun are different than having it in an LMG. The
PER BULLET portion is what makes the difference. I need 2 or 3
shots to kill an enemy using a handgun. If I have FMJ equipped
in that handgun I will still need the same amount of shots
because the additional damage does not reduce the number of
bullets needed to inflict the damage required to get a kill. In
the LMG case, I tried to shoot down a VTOL Jet emptying a whole
clip on target but the jet stayed in the air. When I equipped
the FMJ perk in the same LMG, the VTOL Jet came down when the
magazine was about to run empty.

FMJ used to add extra damage to enemy players shot by them. That
stopped after MW2. So in MW2 it was very common to see players
using Stopping Power (pro) plus FMJ on their weapons. After that
they changed it to doing extra penetration damage as well as
extra damage to score/killstreaks, but had no increase in damage
vs enemies in the open. Now it seems that you get zero
penetration thru certain walls/objects unless you have FMJ. I
don't use FMJ, but there have been times I swear I've seen
rounds sailing thru walls that I have tried shooting thru but
didn't get any hits when I knew there was a dude there, idk. Can
anyone confirm if FMJ goes thru doors? I think it's silly you
can't shoot thru doors with regular rounds. Unless the bullet
takes a 90 degree turn once it goes thru cause I don't think
I've ever hit anyone who has made it behind a door while I was
shooting them.

Fmj can do 2 things against players
- better penetration
- less damage reduction when shooting through cover
Cod has had one of both working at once.
Never more damage.
Against streaks/rewards/equipment. The discription says damage
against them. In practice some things are excluded.
I almost always got at least one lmg fmj setup for
wallbang/campeer hunting.
If there is a perk to see enemy equipment I will take that to.
Ghosts hijacked and puketown good examples where that setup is
great against campers

I do not know about doors but I have been killed a couple of
times with bullets hitting me through the plywood walls in the
shanty town of Shoot House. :(
