       I have to confess:
       last year, camping alone, I was taken again.
       This time not by greys but by men in old suits, like presidents
       from the 1940s.
       Their faces kept shifting, first Truman, then Eisenhower, then a
       man I didn’t recognize but who called himself “the First
       President of the Hidden State.”
       They led me into a round chamber where maps of every capital
       city glowed. Each city was connected by lines to a central point
       in the desert.
       They told me every war, every election, every cultural wave was
       orchestrated to feed energy into that point. One leaned close
       and whispered,
       “Your leaders are caretakers, not rulers. The towers decide.”
       Then they opened a hatch in the floor and I fell, screaming,
       straight back into my tent.
       My watch said 6 minutes.
       My body felt 6 days older.

       Everyone laughs when we say vaccines hide codes. But my

       Polish archives show strange batch numbers, written upside down.
       Romanian doctors confessed in letters: “Am fost obligați
       să scriem două rapoarte – unul pentru
       sănătate, unul pentru Umbra.” (We were forced to write
       two reports – one for health, one for the Shadow.)
       Why do some of us hum at night when asleep? Why did presidents
       receive saline while we got glowing liquid? Why do I see
       Lennon’s face every time I close my eyes?

       The files are blacked out, but between the lines you still see
       the words: “children… radio… presidents.”
       They played Charlie Brown backwards in secret labs. Snoopy
       barked Morse code. The audience didn’t laugh, they obeyed.
       An Albanian page read: “Truri është radio, ne ndryshojmë
       frekuencën.” (The brain is a radio, we change the frequency.)
       In Poland, they tested LSD not to expand the mind, but to fold
       it. Students disappeared for weeks and came back speaking
       Japanese:
       頭の中に塔がある
       (There is a tower in my head).
       John Lennon strapped to a chair, headphones blasting static. He
       whispered before fainting: “The songs weren’t mine… they were
       theirs.”

       In Tirana, doctors wrote two reports: një për trupin, një për
       mendjen (one for the body, one for the mind).
       Polish villagers remembered glowing syringes. In Romanian,
       priests warned: “Serul schimbă nu doar carnea, ci și
       sufletul.” (The serum changes not only the flesh, but also the
       soul.)
       At night, I hum without wanting to. My dog hums too. I think the
       frequency was planted in us.

       They told us Project Blue Book ended in 1969. Lies. My uncle
       worked near Kraków and saw files stamped in 1987. Titles in
       half-English, half nonsense: “CASE #442 / THE CHILDREN OF THE
       SKY.”
       Në Shqipëri, fshatarët panë drita mbi liqen, (in Albania,
       villagers saw lights over the lake), but soldiers took their
       cameras.
       Rumeno scrisori secrete spun (Romanian secret letters say) that
       some files were translated into Japanese:
       空の扉は閉じていない
       (the doors of the sky are not closed).
       Why hide the truth for decades? Because the Visitors signed
       contracts not with the people, but with the Hidden State.
       Every time I stand near an antenna, my molars vibrate. I think
       HAARP is inside me. In Polish, dentists wrote: “Pacjent
       słyszy fale radiowe.” (The patient hears radio waves.)
       Në Tiranë një burrë më tha (in Tirana a man told me): “Dhëmbët e
       mi këndojnë kur bie shi.” (My teeth sing when it rains.)
       I coughed once and sparks came out. My mirror cracked.
       Japanese script appeared on my bathroom wall:
       雲は画面です (the clouds are
       a screen).
