The Hour of Twilight (Tag The Dark Queen)

Moses trudged through the apocalyptic scene of the ruins of the
Spirit Kingdom's once biggest temple, honoring the first Spirit
King. All that was left standing at the acropolis were broken
pillars, each smashed in its own unique way; an altar for
offerings that had a goblin's battle axe still resting in the
marble top; and the head of a once mighty statue, weathered by
time and the elements, and resembling a skull more than the once
great first Spirit King. The Twilight had made sure that this
temple good and destroyed, probably to rob it of any power it
might have to give the Spirit Kingdom's citizens to hope.
All around Moses, he could see nothing but destruction - A sight
he was all too familiar with. A sight that brought back powerful
memories.

TWELVE YEARS AGO, THE STONE KINGDOM
Moses was a simple Sheppard, tending to his flock near the
boarder between the Stone Kingdom, and the Twilight Wastelands.
Moses was a skinny man, and preferred not to use violence to
solve his problems, but was willing to defend his sheep from the
nightmarish Twili-beasts that would sometimes cross over. His
mind troubled by his brother's madness, Moses looked towards the
shrouded outcrops that separated the Wastelands and the Stone
Kingdom, wondering what kind of day lay before him.

The day that lay before him would prove to be more interesting
then he had ever though... for on the border of the
wastelands... there it was.... some kind of camp of what looked
to be growing numbers of twilight beasts. But that was not the
strangest no... the strangest sight was a gather of these beasts
circled around what looked to be a maiden dressed in white
armor. The beasts bowing to her... before one of the great
beasts a terrifying worg offered itself to her. She mounted the
animal and with that part of the group split off, the mysterious
stranger and the worg with two younger worgs heading this way.
This could not be good after all the beasts were never
organized.... oh dear

As Moses was watching over the sheep, he heard footfalls in the
distance. An eerie rumbling, as if the Wyrms of old had awakened
from their slumber. Moses looked again in the direction of the
border, and saw riding along the rock wall five Stone Sentries
on imperial stallions - The Stone King's border patrol, which
doubled as his brute squad, attacking citizens who lived on the
Twilight side, under the orders of the King. His own brother.
From the looks of things, these Sentries had just finished a
raid of some kind - Moses could see the stains of blood on their
hands, swords, and even the horses' hooves. He hoped that the
Sentries would just leave him be and continue on their way.
One of the Sentries spotted Moses, pointed at him, and called to
his commanding officer.
"Corpral, that Sheppard gave me a dirty look - shall we
'dispense with keeping the peace?'" the Sentry asked, getting a
murderous look on his face. The Corporal gave a smirk, and
signaled to the other Sentries to surround Moses and his flock.
Dealing with a nightmare beast is one thing; fighting off five
unhappy hooligans is something else.
That's when the Sentries' horses got all riled up, scared by
something. The Corporal's face turned to annoyance as he tried
to calm his horse down, while Moses' eyes widened. He saw a
shadow come alive as a worg pounced upon the Corporal, and
ripped him apart. The sight was shocking, but even more
surprising to Moses was the maiden, clad in dazzling white
armor, that was riding the nightmarish beast.
The other Sentries raised their swords ready to strike, when two
smaller worgs took down two more of the Stone King's guards.
This was a sight Moses had never seen before...
This maiden could command the Twili-beasts.

The woman drove her brilliant sword through the corporal to make
sure he died swiftly, letting the beasts clean up the rest
before turning to look at moses twirling the blade in her hands
before putting it away as she patted the great worg she had
ridden upon sliding off it gracefully before striding up to
Moses "..... you- farmer- there must be a spring or well nearby?
I have many people who are thirsty and injured"

"Uh... Yes. There's a well just up the- look out!" Moses threw
his staff, clocking a Sentry in the face before he could strike
the maiden in the back. The sheep bleated in fear at the korgs
circling them hungrily.
"To reduce the amount of stress to my flock, I suggest we get
you that water." Moses suggested, still shaken up from
everything that had happened.

The woman warrior turned seeing the danger but it was Moses who
reacted faster saving her.... she angrily took out her sword
once more to bury it in the man slaying him for the offence.....
Before looking back at Moses. Then fixing herself upright before
smirking at the worgs "forgive me, they are quite hungry...
there is not much food in the wastelands for us to eat. I havent
eaten myself"

Moses nodded as he lead the maiden towards the well.
"Rations here in the borderlands are bare bones at best. The
Stone Kingdom has certainly taken a turn for the worse ever
since Ramses took the throne. Waging a war with the Twilight and
enslaving their people; not caring if his own citizens live or
die; the man's dream of ruling over the Eight Kingdoms has
turned Ramses' heart to stone."
When Moses reached the well, he pulled out a loaf of bread, and
handed it to the maiden.
"I know it is not much, but I hope this helps." Moses said,
lowering the bucket into the well for water.

She blinked at the loaf of bread offered her "...." gently
taking it and stuffing it in her bag bowing her head to him "it
should not be a problem for too long... the twilight are moving
from the wasteland, there will be a great exodus. This king's
Ramses dreams of ruling all is foolish.... fate will always
snuff out prideful men" saying that last line with hatred and
almost vengeance dripping in her voice as she gripped the hilt
of her blade at her side. Before moving to settle her worgs
gently petting their coats and whispering to them in a strange
mellodic language... the great beasts simply laying down in the
shade of the well.
The strange woman did not wait for the bucket only removing a
water pack off the largest worg and tieing it with some rope
weighing it with stone so it sunk and the natural water pressure
filled it for her. Before beginning to hoist it up "This water
and food will go along way I will assure it...."

"I hope so, for the Twilight's sake. It would be unwise to
underestimate the Stone King, for out of all the Eight Kingdoms,
he commands the greatest army - 1 million strong. And that's not
including the Earthbenders."
Moses gave a deep sigh, and sat down next to the bucket full of
water.
"I've tried to talk him out of it... But why would a King listen
to a Sheppard?" Moses asked in frustration.
"If I had power, I would stop him... Any way I could."

"..... be careful of what you wish for little shepherd.... you
may come to regret it one day, even those who only wish peace
may end up paying in death and war to get it" she said quite
cryptically and with an odd sad tone to her voice as she
continued hoisting up the water pack.
"..... once a long time ago, a dark creature roamed this land
before your great stone king, its powers great so big that it
thought it could swallow the world as well.... but it mets its
match not in battle. one of its subjects of beauty and light
came up to it and asked 'if you swallow everything, then at the
end of it all what will be left' to which it replied 'nothing'
and once again the subject spoke 'so then it will be you and
nothing for all eternity, is that what you wish for?' "
finishing the story there "the moral is that.... anyone who
seeks total control over something will learn hard way the
consequences for such selfish actions. As for the beast.... some
say that creature granted his wish and trapped him somewhere
where it would be nothing but himself for all eternity."
"if you had the power to stop Ramses, would you be willing to
deal with the consequences?" looking over to the dead bodies of
the soldiers whose armor was being ripped open and bodies eaten
by the hungry worgs ".... that could very well be your king one
day.... by your hand"
