into the moonpool after a day of lone traveling. the thunderclan
deputy looked up at the sky to see the sun slowly disappearing
under the earth's surface.
[ i f ] you couldn't tell, effieltower was about to become
effielstar- at a very young age of three seasons, too. her paws
trembled as she stepped forward, dipping her nose into the icy
waters. spikes were sent down her spine as she descended into
the world known as Starclan.
[ a f t e r] what seemed like hours, the silver tabby was in a
meadow surrounded by glittering cats. a familiar tom stepped
forward, and effieltower's eyes lit in happiness. "wolfstar!"
she cried, the black leader smiled down at her. "i am wolfclaw,
now." he paused before continuing, "are you ready to accept the
challenges that being a leader brings? will you protect your
clan- your family, friends, and even enemies?" wolfclaw asked,
his hazel gaze studying effieltower.
"i do." she dipped her head, meeting his gaze as he stepped
forward. "then we will present you with your nine lives.
effieltower, with my life i present you courage. use it well,
dear." the black tom touched effieltower's head- sending a shock
of horrid pain down her back. she had to bite her tongue from
yelling out for him to stop- but she braced herself until he
pulled away. wolfclaw dipped his head, fading back into the
crowd.
a golden colored tom stepped from the group- and effieltower
felt her heart quicken.
[ h e r ] mentor- lightningrod! "effieltower, i am so proud of
you. so with this life i give you pride- take pride in every one
of your warriors and clanmates." he stepped forward, pressing
his nose to effieltower's bent head. this time, the shock wasn't
as painful, but more like a pebble getting stuck in your pad.
[ h e ] stepped back, and effieltower's heart stopped as a kit
walked from the crowd. "littlekit." she breathed, looking down
at her little sister who died in a shadowclan raid. "big sister,
i missed you. with this life i give you grief." the gray kit
mewed, reaching up to touch her sister's head- which was now up
to her level. there was no pain, but a river of sadness flew
into her veins, making effieltower's heart droop. littlekit
stepped back into the crowd, and a beautiful she-cat stepped
forward.
[ b l u e w i n g s ]- effieltower's mother. who had been killed
in a wildfire- trying to save an apprentice and giving her life
for it. "daughter, with this life i give you love." she purred,
stepping up and pressing her muzzle to effieltower's head. this
time, her heart quickened- and she felt pleasure and happiness.
bluewings pulled away, her loving gaze meeting effieltower's
before turning and padding up next to littlekit.
[ n e x t ] came her best friend, tokyopaw. "tokyopaw!"
effieltower felt her eyes prick with sad happiness, as tokyopaw
approached. "tokyolights, now. in this life i give you
friendship- you know why." she pushed her muzzle to the deputy's
head- making effieltower smile with her words. her heart pumped
with happiness, laughter, and the relief of having a friend.
tokyolights pulled away, sharing a gaze before turning and
padding back into the crowd. her red glittering pelt was
beautiful, effieltower had always admired a pelt like that.
[ s u r p r i s i n g l y ] to effieltower, her father stepped
out of the crowd. they never had much of a relationship after he
betray the clan and became a windclan warrior, dottedfoot. "with
this life, i give you forgiveness. i apologize for my mistake of
being a bad father." he mewed solemnly, pressing his nose to his
daughter's head. it was different from everything else- it made
her nerves prick and brain overload. she was forgiving him.
dottedfoot pulled away, back stepping into the crowd once more.
[ n e x t ] came dancingstar, the leader when effieltower was
only a kit to an apprentice. dancingstar had died in a battle
with badgers, defending a helpless kit. "with this life i give
you protection. to help your clan in hard times." she touched
effieltower's head and pain shot through the deputy. much worse
than her first life, it was like being hit with hard turtle
shells. "thank you dancing-" before she could finish, the former
leader cut her off, "dancingbirds." and with that she stepped
deep into the crowd.
[ a ] few moments later, a little apprentice bounded into the
clearing. effieltower's heart split- her apprentice. mousepaw
had died through a car accident. "with this life i give you
patience- something you had with me." she touched her muzzle to
the deputy's head and relief coursed through the she-cat. the
sweet moment lasted for a few minutes before mousepaw pulled
back and faded back into the crowd.
[ l a s t l y ] a brown tom stepped from the crowd, making
effieltower's heart speed up. it was breakingpaw- the tom she
had a crush on during apprentice age. he was found dead after
the badger attack. she looked at him- muscular, blue eyes, white
paws. perfection. "i am breakingpoint now. and with your last
life i give you laughter." he touched effieltower's head, and it
felt like smiles going through her body. moments later, he
pulled away and trotted back to the group.
[ " e f f i e l s t a r " ] thunderclan chanted until they all
faded away. when the silver tabby awoke, a star was placed upon
her head- proclaiming she was now leader of thunderclan. taking
a deep breath, she started her journey back home.
