Everyday, the same {o}ld thing.

---------------------------------------------------------
The sun was beating down on WindClan's territory without mercy,
but the air held a certain coolness to it that could not be
explained. Leaf-fall was finally here, all the Clan cats knew
that, and that meant leaf-bare would be right around the corner.
Then the prey would scurry away to their dens for hibernation,
and the cats would have to go without much food and bare the
cold season.
Though, none of that really mattered to a certain rodent-like
WindClanner right now, for he sat out by the freshkill-pile,
glaring at the few cats that would wander by. Yes, he was in a
bad mood, some would say he always was. He always seemed to be
alone, and no-cat would tell him what had happened to his
parents. Though, it's not like he knew them anyways. Tutterpaw
didn't say anything though, and when he thought no-cat was
looking his gaze would wander off to the Medicine Cat den. They
didn't get judged. They helped cats whenever they were sick or
wounded. And this albino sort of liked that idea, giving back to
the ones that didn't usually give to him. His pinkish-red eyes
gleamed, before he quickly adverted them to stare at the ground.
"B*******." Tutterpaw sighed, knowing he would have to grow up
and be a warrior. One that would fight and protect this Clan
with their very life. But, it just didn't feel right to him,
nothing seemed to feel right about him being here, being who he
was. Though, he was never able to put his paw on exactly what.
Growling in frustration, the young tom quickly reached a paw out
and sunk his claws into the ground, before retracting them again
to brood quietly to himself. 'B******.'

"EEEH?" The white-furred elder was suddenly upon him.
Most said that the old Bitterface was hard of hearing, which in
fact he was, but at the most inappropriate of times he seemed to
have no trouble with catching cusses or insults- this being one
of those times. Of course, at first he wasn't sure if Tutterpaw
was calling his name or cussing- but the look on his face
confirmed the former to be true.
"Watch your mouth, young'un! Why, back in my day we had to chew
the foulest of herbs for saying nonsense like that!"

The small albino pulled back suddenly, obviously surprised by
the elder's sudden appearance. Personally, Tutterpaw saw no
fault in his words; he'd grown up as a small kit hearing them
every now-and-then from the older cats. They were always
considered a normal part of his vocabulary, though he knew they
were considered 'bad words' by some cats. Many queens had
scolded him when he was younger- excluding his adoptive one, of
course- so this was nothing new.
"The f- ... foulest herbs? What kinds of herbs?" The
apprentice was almost so unfazed by the older tom's outburst he
didn't even hear exactly what he had said. Something about herbs
caught his attention, so of course he wanted to know what he was
talking about. Tutterpaw may have been a sour cat most of the
time, but it would be a lie to say he had lost all of his
kit-like curiosity.

Gracideasilhouette slipped past and
actually glared at the apprentice, despite it being not very
affective with her blind eyes. "I Have some that will suffice if
I hear another word like that." she snapped at him, before
flicking her tail and passing on out of camp.

The sound of Bitterface's teeth gnashing together
sounded all through the apprentice's talking- not because he was
angry or anything but because he was old and his mouth was dry
and that was the kind of sound old cats made. "Eeh? Why,
everything from Catchweed to Parsley! Why, the medicine cat when
I was a kit used to threaten us with these foul red sticks of
pain- PEPPERS she called 'em!" now his mismatched gaze turned
upward in remembrance,
"A cat who she made eat those couldn't speak for a week!"

His pinkish-red eyes grew slightly wider at that, the albino
nervously worrying his bottom lip. It was never a good thing to
get on the older cat's bad sides, Tutterpaw knew, so he decided
to try and watch what he said from now on. At first he had
wanted to go off on the older she-cat, his pelt prickled
slightly with the held-in rage, but this was Gracideasilhouette.
She was the Medicine Cat, and after hearing what the elder had
just said he knew it would be worse than ruining his
non-existent chances of him becoming her apprentice if he just
blew up right there.
Tutterpaw decided to glare quietly at the ground, not paying
much attention to the reminiscing tom near him. The young
apprentice stretched out both his fore-legs this time, sinking
all his front claws into the ground at once. He set his pure
white head in-between his legs, staring at his paws in thought.
Why was he even thinking about Medicine Cats in the first place?
He should be focused on finding a mentor and his warrior
training, like any normal apprentice. "Bitterface, do the
Medicine Cats still use those peppers?" The albino asked
quietly, trying not to get himself too worked up about it,
swishing his thin rat-like tail on the ground.

"I'm sure she could find some if she really tried- that
young'un never experimented with herbs the way her mentor did!
Called it 'dangerous', she did!" Bitterface was oblivious to
Tutterpaw's rage, thinking him all of the sudden a good little
tom who had let a cuss slip by- just for sitting and listening
to his stories. well, his mood did change quite quickly in his
old age.
"Well... There was that one time that he gave a warrior some
kind of brown shell and he ended up dyin'."

The apprentice's eyes widened, turning his head slightly to
the side to make sure this older cat wasn't joking around.
Since, if there was anything in this world that really got on
his nerves about others, it would be the ones that made jokes
like that. "Really?" Tutterpaw inquired, expression softening
just slightly.

"Oh yes, he was a grand old tom, too. He'd be even older than me
by now, if he were still kickin'." the elder shook his head,
upset still at the loss. "But old what's his face was a good old
tom, too." by this, he meant the previous medicine cat-
Carouseltrot's mentor's name had slipped his mind for the
moment.

The young tom's gaze went back to his paws, thinking over what
the elder had just said. Bitterface's tales were helping him get
his mind off of things, at least. Though, he felt slightly like
a kit, sitting here and listening to elders reminisce. "That's
good, then." The albino stated, before standing up rather
abruptly from where he had been laying. He must have looked so
strange, being there like that. "But I must get to hunting, f-"
"Watch what you say." "for the Clan and all... I'll bring you
back something in return for the stories." Tutterpaw meowed
quietly, eyes going a little distant.
'Peppers.' He would remember that, maybe even try and find
himself a few, just to keep around. He didn't even know why, but
it just felt right for some reason. "Thank you." He added
quietly, turning his strange-colored eyes to the older tom one
last time before bounding out of camp.
- Tiny Time-Skip ~3~ -
It was a wonder the tom knew how to hunt. Okay, he wasn't very
good at it, but he knew the basics. Maybe if he got lucky he
could find a wounded rabbit, or maybe even something that just
sort of gave out. The tom wandered WindClan's territory as
quietly as possible, making sure to keep as light on his paws as
he knew how. He'd went on two or three training sessions with
other apprentices, always promising to find himself his own
mentor beforehand. Like he was going to be that cat; bothering
warriors day and night about training him. Tutterpaw barely got
to finish that thought, though, before he spotted something- a
small group of baby bunnies. They looked to be crowded around
something, but the albino didn't pay that much attention to what
it was.
Crouching down, the tom got into a loose hunter's crouch-
which, in all honesty, was terrible- and bounded towards the
baby rabbits. They instantly scattered, but not before the young
apprentice was able to trap one of the slowest ones under his
paws. It wiggled and squirmed, almost getting away multiple
times, before the cat put an end to it. It was then that he got
a look at what they had been gathered around, a very small older
rabbit that could barely pass off as such. It was skinny and
probably didn't have enough to feed an apprentice on it's bones,
so the tom concluded that it had somehow starved to death. It
had probably been injured and was unable to find it's own food,
being out here in the middle of nowhere, he guessed.
Oh well. Prey was prey. Finding some brush not to far off,
Tutterpaw hid his 'catch' where he could find it later, padding
off to look for some peppers. They would probably be near the
twoleg-place, since he had never heard of cats talking about
finding them in WindClan territory. So, hopefully he wouldn't
get caught sneaking off to find some. Hopefully.
