       I read all five before getting around to starting the series.

       I found the TV series first when it was two seasons in and then
       read all the books. I am eagerly waiting for the next book in
       the series and enjoy the uniqueness of the situation in that
       both are a work in progress and one influences the development
       of the other. e.g. GRRM said that he liked Osha in the TV show
       and has written more of her in the forthcoming books.
