Who's gonna watch the LEGO Movie this weekend?!
By: M_Project Date: February 6, 2014, 9:28 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I don't really have any high expectations, but I'm gonna check
it out that Sunday a day or two after it's release.
Let me know what you all think about the movie when you see it.
No spoilers please. I'll be sure to post my opinions when I see
it.

I'm probably not this weekend. Hopefully when it's in theaters
though!

I just saw the movie. My opinions briefly:
NO major spoilers!
Presentation -
I thought the visuals were very appropriate combining
stop-moton animation with CG and (can't say because spoilers).
I admit, while everything "looked" spectacular, it took some
effort to adjust. Probably because mostly everything I've
watched is either live action, 2D, or 3D animated. Somehow, the
visuals in The LEGO Movie is a thing of it's own.
9.0/10
Story -
The plot honestly was very sloppy to me at first. Cliché, made
no sense, etc. I feel Warner Bros, were full aware and even
intentional with this. However that was very brief given the
nature of the pacing and in the 2nd half, things were more or
less explained quickly to divert it's small flaws. What I
really enjoyed was the message I took away from the film seeing
that it's very relevant to my (and many others) LEGO play-style.
The directors really had a true understanding of the LEGO brand
and its audience - both children and adults!
8.5/10
Script -
Witty, spontaneous, and actually a tad funny. Yeah, there were
some corny/cheesy bits, but at least it was kinda
original......... or maybe not......
7.8/10
Pacing -
Pacing is a category many just don't use when they analyze
stuff. The pacing in The LEGO Movie in one word is "fast". For
many that's probably a good thing, but too much can lead to
confusion which then leads to disinterest and that was apparent
with the plot. Fortunately, I think it was probably for the
best..
8.1/10
Characters -
Pretty decent bunch. I didn't have anything against any one
character really except perhaps Unikitty (who just reminds be
of... (<.<). Benny, Lord Business, and the Cop was among my
favorites. Especially Benny! None were really relatable
personally with the exception of Emmet and Lord Business (for me
at least).
8.5/10
Conclusion -
The LEGO Movie is defiantly special and one-of-a-kind at least
with what's been on screen. The references to the toys are
sharp, the moral is ever so sweet, and the tone it just a
downright "feel good" experience. Yes, most of the film for me
felt like one amazing 100 minuet commercial, but c'mon it's
LEGO! For fans of the products, do yourself a favor and watch
it!
