Chapter 17: The Bridge and In
12th July 2298
"Cover me" a soldier yelled and than tried to move up, despite
our efforts he was gunned down, we had made very little ground
and lost a lot of troops, it was dark and we were going on
sounds to hit our targets. The gun fire had died down and people
only shot when they thought the could hit someone. I peeked up
from cover and saw something we could do to break the stale
mate. I crawled from cover and ran, bullets chased me across the
opening. I dived behind cover again and the gun fire stopped.
"Eagle, see that old truck up their" I said.
Eagle popped his head up and looked, the N.U.R we taking cover
around a large truck and some cars around it's general area.
"Yeah, what about it" Those cars and stuff go off like mini
nukes, if we can get the truck to explode, it will set off a
chain reaction and force what's left of the N.U.R after the
explosions to move back to avoid the fires and stuff" I said.
"Alright, who else caught that" He asked. A few people
responded.
"Alright on 3 we stand up and fire at that truck" Eagle ordered.
I checked my mag and he counted to three. "Cover us" Someone
shouted, we stood up and fired at the motor of the truck, it
caught fire a mini explosions went off, then it exploded,
sending N.U.R soldiers flying and blowing up the other cars as
well. We all ran up and the gun fire resumed, on the bridge,
from building to building, across the river.
We got halfway across the bridge and were stuck again, we kept
firing trying to force a hole the night sky was lit up by the
fires now, an N.U.R flying machine, similar to the Verti-Bird
flew over head and fired on us, Rolls, our missile man took it
down, forcing it to crash into the river. About 120 of us were
on this bridge trying to get across, when another N.U.R flying
machine flew overhead. A sniper bullet hit Roll's missile
launcher, it exploded sending rolls flying into pieces.
Then a click and launch, "Mini Nuke" Dale shouted and then fired
at the chopper, it hit the bridge, followed by another a second
later, then another, I looked as the bridge started to collapse
away, they had 4 men hanging off the sides with Fat Man. Then a
loud bending sound then the bridge beneath us cracked and
started to fall in, one last Mini Nuke made sure the bridge
collapsed. All us dead and alive plummeted into Irradiated river
below.
I awoke to the sound of gun fire, I was on the rocks, I looked
to my side, "Lieutenant Dale, whats our orders" I asked, he
didn't answer, just stared at me, "Dale" I said and shook him
and then looked down, He was a head and the top of half a torso
with both arms. "Aaron get up, General Hooper wants us to breach
the fort before Dawn" Eagle siad and then ran along the rocks. I
looked east and saw a little bit of light way far out to the
ocean.
I fired my rifle, it fired alright so I reloaded it and ran up
the rocks, we were on the opposite side of the river now, I
looked behind me and the bridge wasn't their anymore. I ran into
battle and took cover behind the corner of a building, then it
exploded and I was sent to the ground, covered in small bits of
rubble and dust. I got up and dusted myself off and ran back to
the corner and leaned around, and killed two N.U.R as they ran
across the street.
I saw a mass of N.U.R soldiers coming down the street, I had no
body else with me, so I threw my last grenade at the group and
ran for it, I herd it explode and some screams, as I ran through
across the next street with bullets coming at me from side on. I
got to a corner where 4 men one with a mini gun were at the
corner, he was leaning around firing down the street the others
had small weapons and were carrying ammo and a spare Mini Gun in
3 different pieces.
"General Hooper is getting ready to escort two Atom Bombs into
the middle of the fort at Dawn, go help him if you don't have a
certain job to do" One explained yelling over the Mini Gun.
"Where is he" I yelled back.
"Over western way, you can't miss them they got the entire area
looked down with Snipers and squads like us" He yelled back.
"Alright" I yelled. I hitch up my rifle and jogged off, I came a
dead end and decided to go through the destroyed building. I put
3 into the chest off a N.U.R making him fall of his position,
another attack me and a shotgun, I put one through his head. I
continued out the other side of the building and across the
street, trying to go west, but avoiding large groups.
"Die Puny Humans" I herd a recognizable voice scream. I looked
through a window of the front wall, that was standing by it's
self. 4 Super Mutants were standing around a slaughtered pile of
N.U.R and Militia. "I can't take them" I said and continued on
west.
"Aaron stop!" I herd someone shout, Daryl Barnes, Dominic and
Cooper ran up to me, "Where you heading?" Daryl asked me.
"General Hooper needs help or something, I'm going west" I said.
"Alright come on where going there too" He said.
We moved along in a pack, we came to the corner off a street and
saw a small squad of N.U.R running from our soldiers, we shot
them dead in the street. "Go West, unless you have orders"
Dominic shouted. "Alright" The leader of that squad yelled back.
They turned around and went back down the street. We continued
into the secured zone.
General Hooper greeted us, "Alright Aaron, "I'll bring you up to
speed, these 3 know the plan... At Dawn, we're going to escort
these two atom bombs into the middle of this fort and get the
hell out of here, until then we need to get our soldiers out of
there, I have suicide squads out there doing that now.
"Alright, I'm ready when ever you want to take them" I said.
"good" he patted my back as he walked past me, I rushed over to
Jess who was bleeding. "Jess" I shouted and ran over to here and
slid along the ground stopped right next to here. "Where are you
hit?" I asked, she looked at me and smiled. In the shoulder,
it's fine, I just can't hold my rifle" She explained. I was
relieved to here that.

Hope all readers enjoyed that, Black Hawk Down inspired a lot of
that chapter.

DYAUM! that was one hectic battle! Like in saving private ryan,
his whole group got either killed or got separated in all the
chaos! I hope Jess is ok! I cant wait for the next installment!

all Deathclaws and behemoths.. and those invisible mfookas

Thanks guys, I appreciate very comment I've had on these story.
Chapter 18: Shock Wave
13th July 2298
Dawn. "Move out men" General Hooper ordered. The select squad
the general was leading in himself, everybody else was to get
out except for anybody with a sniper rifle, who would cover us
until he got the bombs planted and get out, anybody who makes it
out from the escort squad will be the last to leave.
General Hooper
Lieutenant Biscuit, Jobbers
Warlord Eagle, Grease and Ron
Captain Erickson, Juicy, Judge and Ford
and Dominic, Daryl, Cooper, Notingham, Miles, Adam, Frank, Kim,
Isac, Hardy, Virgo, Shepherd, Burrel
The squad I was going in with, we moved from the safe spot, some
gunfire could be heard in the distance, maybe some our guys, or
super mutants or N.U.R. The two bombs being pulled by the
vehicle I made, both, it wasn't moving very fast, I don't see
what the big fascination with them was.
Then our snipers opened up on some N.U.R down the road, we fired
at them, using the buildings and rubble piles for cover, nobody
was stupid enough to shoot the bomb because it would explode
killing us all, even though the bomb shells were so thick, it'd
take a Mini Nuke to set them off. From information we found the
Commie Slaughterer, they were designed to withstand gunfire in
case the ship was attacked.
I shot two N.U.R soldiers dead as they rounded a corner, now all
you could hear is gunfire, bullets going everywhere. A bullet
splattered Notingham's brains all over the bomb as he walked
beside it. Cooper unloaded on a sniper position with his Mini
Gun. "Pick up the pace" Hooper shouted and then slapped the bomb
twice. Isac was hit in the chest, "Help!" He screamed, mini gun
fire sprayed us, everybody got out of the way except the wounded
Isac.
Jobbers was hit in the head, he collapsed and fell of the bomb
that he was standing on firing. I dodged a few bullets and
returned fire in an alleyway. Killing the N.U.R soldier.
"Alright we're past the line, no more sniper support" Hooper
said, 3 Super Mutants Rushed us, all were those ones called
Overlords. A hail of gun fire from all of us brought them down.
I dropped out my clip and put a new one and sprayed a doorway,
causing a dead soldier to fall through.
A grenade went off, killing both Burrel and Ron. Shepherd
collapsed from a wound and died on the street. Virgo was hit in
the gut, I took the yes out of the soldier that did it, but
Virgo shot himself before we could help him, I presume not to
hold us back. A building imploded near by and then a N.U.R
flying machine came over head. A missile clipped it and sent it
into another building. "Just up here" Hooper shouted, everybody
at once looked at the square it was definitely.
We came out into the open and started using the foundations of
destroyed buildings for cover. A missile hit nearby and killed
Hardy, Ford and Erickson. "This'll do set the damn things"
Hooper ordered, Eagle and Frank rushed over and started
programming the bombs. A missile hit the ground near me and Kim.
I was flung into a hole with one of Kim's legs. I got up and
climbed out, Kim was near by, she bleed to death quickly from
his missing left leg and arm and most of her torso.
We had to tough and except it, otherwise none of us we get out
of here, we were taking fire from all around, they were trying
to stop us setting them. Juicy and Judge were caught by the same
sniper bullet, Juicy was only wounded but he was made an easy
kill by another soldier. Judge, well she died straight away.
"Their set" Frank yelled, "Let's get out of here, we got 6
minutes" Eagle shouted.
"Go I'll cover ya's" I shouted and sprayed all around while the
rest didn't question, they just ran, except for one other, I
felt a smack across the face, I fell over, then a i felt someone
go around my wrist and click. I looked up at Adam who had a
chain and padlock, around my wrist and attached to the cart the
second bomb was on.
"Your going to kill me over a one night stand, you probably
wouldn't have gotten" I asked watching him as he checked the
locks. He knelled down next to me.
"I told you not too, you did, he ruined it for me, I wouldn't
more then just sex with her" He said.
"You're a deeply troubled man" I said and then tried to brake
free"
"Maybe, but you died defending the bomb so they couldn't disarm
it, Jess is heartbroken, I swoop in and get what I want" he
explained with an evil grin.
He took my rifle and ran over to some cover and got ready to
run, when he got their first chance. I looked around found one
thing, the body off Judge. I managed to drag her corpse closer
with one arm. I looked over at Adam who still hadn't gotten the
chance to run. I searched Judge over, I felt horrible, cause it
was like I was feeling up a dead woman.
I found a sawed off with 4 bullets, I loaded them all in and
looked at the chain, It would took more than two blasts to get
the chain off, I herd the timer beep, I had 5 minutes left. I
pulled the trigger out of desperation and blew my left hand off.
It was excruciating pain, but I wasn't going to die because that
guy has problems.
I tore my wrist away and got to my feet, Adam came over to see
what the shot was, I held up my bloody stump, his eyes went wide
and his mouth dropped open. I grinned and raised the sawed off
in my right hand, he turned a little and looked straight down
the barrel. "Just think, if you weren't such an idiot, I had
still have a hand and you'd still have a head" I said and pulled
the trigger. His head flew back, the back of his covered the
ground. His body hit the ground with a thud. I threw the Sawed
off on him and started running, soon as the timer beeped for the
4 minute mark. I out sprinted the N.U.R aim.
I sprinted hard and fast, carrying my bloody stump in my good
hand, avoiding bullets left and right. I ran through the old
safe zone and out of the area as it exploded behind me, I was
knocked to the ground by the shock wave. I turned around and
seen the mushroom cloud in the sky and then wall the buildings
collapse.
I got up and kept running another few blocks, before I
collapsed, I was tired and got keep going, I had left a trail of
blood from the bomb to where I am now. I tore off my bandana and
wrapped my wrist and laid there back against a pile of rubble
and watched the N.U.R base as it turned to flames.
"Aaron" I heard a familiar voice call, "Jess" I shouted back,
then I felt arms go around me. I looked and Jess was hugging me,
I got up and looked at General Hooper, Lieutenant Biscuit,
Eagle, Grease, Dominic, Daryl, Cooper, Miles, and Frank were all
looking on, Jess was still hugging me. "What happened to your
hand?" Dominic asked. I told them the story right there with
sound of buildings burning in the background.
Jess hugged me tighter and I kissed her for a second and looked
up at the smoke filled sky, Jess was mine, I had her in my arms,
I was praised as hero throughout the wasteland I had just helped
save thousands of lives in the future to come.
Aaron John Rocco, my son, you may only be young, but I'm
certain. You are bound for great things one day. I know it in my
gut, you will face hard times, but in the end you will be
forever remembered. I just know it.
My fathers drunken rant never meant anything to me until right
now.

Dopest of DOPE!!!! That battle was a fricken blood bath! You
destroyed this story Aussie! I dont think anyone can top this
story, You did an awesome job going from the story and to the
flashbacks, and the fights with that Adam guy. I didnt expect
him to be around in the end, that was awesome how He had to blow
off his hand to get free I thought he was gonna get blow to
smithereens. Plus you banged out this story pretty quick, you
always had a chapter up for us to read.
If the great reads list was around this obviously would of made
it on there lol!
