5:27am. 9th September 2042
Arthur walked slowly through the corridors and rooms of the
ship, with several jackets and a pack pack slung over his
shoulder and he was carrying a sports bag he had full of
supplies he had gathered up as he searched the ship for any more
Remnants as did the other Mercenaries as well as several groups
of Militia men from Adelaide.
Arthur kicked open a footlocker that wasn't already open and
knelled down to search through it, finding nothing he looked
around as he stood up and then noticed a hunting rifle hanging
from a wall next to a dead Remnant with dried blood on his face
and in his hair and a large hole in the top of his head. Arthur
went to grab the rifle but Brodie came through the door and put
her hand straight on the rifle as Arthur was heading for it. She
looked at Arthur was a grin. "Now we're even" She said as she
pulled the rifle hanging by a shoulder strap of the hook on the
wall and slung it over her shoulder as Arthur tried to argue.
"Look, without these. It' be no more useful than a club" She
said while holding up a box of bullets and shaking them.
"Besides this my kill" She added and then stuck her tongue out
to tease Arthur.
Arthur didn't say anything else and turned around to walk away
when Brodie spoke up. "Honestly?" She asked in an upset tone.
"You don't recognise me?" She asked. Arthur turned his head and
looked at Brodie for a moment before he turned right around.
"Should I?" He asked. "I'm from Wilmera too..." Brodie stated.
Arthur's expression went blank and his mind went straight to how
she knew him. After a few moments of silence Brodie spoke again,
"Brodie Robertson? My sister was rooting your brother Murray for
6 months in 34?" Brodie stated.
Arthur swallowed, he recognised her now, her skin was tanned
from the sun like his and her hair was now brown, where it use
to be blonde. "Brodie Robertson?" He asked. "Come'on even with
the scars, the tattoo's, the long hair and that ugly beard and I
still recognised you, my freckles are gone and my hairs a
different colour, and you had no clue..." Brodie said in a
slightly shocked and upset tone.
Arthur thought for a moment and then tried to ask Brodie a
question but was cut off by Turkey who poked his head in one of
the doors. "Oi, they found Andy, they got him and a heap of
others outside now" He said. Turkey took off with the las of the
gear he scavenged while Arthur tried to ask Brodie that
question. "Walk and talk" She said as she walked out the door.
Arthur followed her with his collected gear. "How'd you get out
of Wilmera that night?" He asked.
"Quickly, we go out the emergency tunnel before it blocked off,
myself and about 15 others, over the next few days we lost
several people to wounds and the hazards of the wastes, 2 people
to pigs, we were eventually taken in by a travelling community
and dropped of at a fairly big town a few weeks later. You?"
"Nearly dead, tied up in ropes, they got me when I was trying to
hold them off enough for Cedric, Cynthia, Bethany and couple
others to escape, I've only been free since July last year"
Arthur explained. Brodie stopped and turned around, blocking the
narrow corridor and stared at Arthur. "Oh my god, I'm sorry. Not
your fault, you didn't invade the town, kill a heap of friends,
family and neighbours and take the rest of as slaves" Arthur
said. Brodie didn't know what to say, she droppeed the attitude
she was giving Arthur and they walked down the stairs and
through the car storage level and as they passed a white
Commodore Ute with several modifications, Arthur put his gear in
the back where Agro was sitting guarding Arthurs vehicle.
"Which way are you heading?" Brodie asked as she once again
stopped.
"I'm going to find somewhere quiet, do a bit of scavenging and
hunting, maybe some fishing while I rest and let him wounds heal
and then I'm going to find some work somewhere, Macca told me
about a place called Gippsland city, on the East Side of
Victoria, I might go there" Arthur explained.
"Mind if I join you, for that rest?" Brodie asked.
"Nup... Agro ain't very talkative, it'll be good to have some
company..." Arthur said.
"Good, I need to be in Portland on 18th for my next job is all"
Brodie explained.
"That's fine, we'll be moving by then" Arthur stated.
Brodie rushed over to pile of scrap and grabbed a box and a back
pack out from behind it and brought them over to Arthur's
vehicle in put them in the back with Agro and then ran to catch
up to Arthur who was walking down the ramp on to the beach, it
was still dark at this point but there were enough vehicles with
lights on and many small fired around the place, that it was lit
up very well.
Brodie and Arthur walked over to a small medic station set up
next to an armoured van and found Andy among the prisoners the
Remnants were holding that were now being treated. Macca was
standing with Andy. "Are you alright Andy?" Arthur asked as he
and Brodie stood next to the stretcher he was on.
Andy tried to talk but all he got out was "thank you" and even
then they found it to hard to make out what he was saying.
"He'll survive, he's suffering from shock, he's been somewhat
delusion, probably from the situation he was on and I gather
this is road rash" The doctor explained and pointed at the
missing skin and deep cuts grazes all over his body.
"It is, he'll be all right though?" Arthur answered and asked.
"Yeah, I'll look after him in Adelaide for a few weeks, very
likely it'll be longer as everything heals ad he comes out shock
and gets a grip on reality" The doctor explained.
"I'll stay in Adelaide and look after him with the doc and when
he's ready I'll take him back home"
"Good... Tell him I'm gald he's safe and next time I come
through I'll come and see him" Arthur said. "Tell him the same
for me" Brodie said. They both put their hand on Andy's limp
hand as he had passed out after saying Thank you to them. Arthur
walked away and he noticed Brodie looking at his eyes out the
corner of his eye and stopped looking straight ahead and moved
his head around a little bit.
"Wait stop" Brodie said.
"Why?" Arthur asked.
Brodie grabbed Arthurs arm and stopped him, he turned around she
grabbed his hand with her hands and looked straight into his
eyes. "That's chilling" She stated. "What is?" He asked. "Your
stare" She stated bluntly. "Yeah cool, let's not talk about it"
He said. He started walking back towards the ship to get his
vehicle. "Wait is that how you got the nickname Iceman?" She
asked. Arthur turned around. "Drop it, I've seen some fucked up
things since the raid of Wilmera, and that is all I'm going to
say about" he stated and started walking again. "Sorry" She said
as she hurried to catch up with him.
"Oi, you two. Stop" Someone said as Brodie and Arthur walked
past them. They both stopped and looked in unison at General
Wheeler, he had two large stacks of red notes, he handed one to
each of them. "I know you lot didn't do this for the reward, but
you've done a huge favour for Adelaide" He said.
Arthur flicked through the stack of twenties and then looked at
General Wheeler an extended his hand. "Thank you sir" He said.
The General shook his hand and then Brodie did the same. They
walked to Arthur's vehicle and drove away, waving to the fellow
mercenaries as they left.
10:11am. 9th September 2042
The loud V8 engine of the Ute stopped just after the the vehicle
itself stopped and Arthur got out with his crossbow ready and
Brodie waited by the car with her rifle loaded and ready to
shoot. Arthur looked around the destroyed car sitting the long
grass and scrub on the side of the road. He followed a blood
trail from the drivers side door laying on the ground next to
the car and through the scrub and looked in horror and dry
reached a little. Two bodies, one male and one female. Both hog
tied and bound naked. Both were dead and both had a lot of blood
and bruising on their inner thighs and around their rear end.
"Arthur whats going on?" Brodie yelled.
"Stay there, for fucks sake, stay there!" He said, he examined
the rest of the area, there were empty bottles, most were rum
bottle, pre war, there was an ash pile and small pile of
unburned fire wood. Beyond that was a mound of dirt, it looked
fresh and just beyond that was a cross with a with what looked
like a necklace with finger bones and human teeth hanging from
it.
Arthur walked over and grabbed the necklace and headed back to
the road where he found Brodie going through the wreckage of the
car, with a small pile of things on a tattered Tarp near the
front of his vehicle. "It's been cleaned out, apart from stuff I
found under the back seat and the armour over the wheels,
there's not much worth taking taking" Brodie reported.
"Check for any booby traps and then check the tanks and the
engine bay, but please, be very careful and be sure, if you're
not, don't touch it" Arthur said.
"What's over there?" Brodie asked.
"Something nobody should have to see" He said and then after
some hesitation, he held up the necklace he found and Brodie's
eye went wide.
"You recognise it?" He asked.
"A gang of sodomites and all round sick mother fuckers, one of
the Bikie gangs, they're local to the south coast of Victoria,
I've never seen the results of their attacks, but I've heard
some horrible stuff" Brodie explained.
"You keep your rifle close and I'll be as quick as I can" He
said and walked over to his Ute, opened the canopy door and
reached in over the tail gate and grabbed his shovel, he paused
for a moment to look for agro, but he had jumped from the absent
windows between the cab and the canopy, Arthur figured that
modification was for clear communication between the driver and
anybody in the back as there were lines in the roof of canopy
where the Remnants had planned to cut.
Arthur walked back through the scrub and cut the ropes and laid
the two bodies next to each other and noticed immediately they
were both missing all their teeth and their fingers, both had
there throats slit as well. Arthur dug as quickly as he could,
the whole was 6ft deep, in fact it was only four at the most but
it was wide enough to fit both the man and the woman in the
hole. He put both of them in and filled it in and just before he
left he used some sump oil sitting in a container to write
Sodomite on a piece of wood, but he wrote rapist instead as he
wasn't sure of the right spelling of Sodomite and put it on the
Bikies grave. He walked back out the road, covered in dirt and
sweat and helped Brodie load the little bit of stuff she was
able to scavenge and left the area quickly both were checking
the weapons were loaded and easy to reach periodically as they
though the Bikie gang had them both worried.
11:00am. 9th September 2042
"You here that?" Brodie said.
"Fuck, where do I go?" Arthur stated as he also heard the
unmistakable sound of a group of motorcycle in the distance.
"Down there, down there" Brodie said pointing to a heavily
overgrown dirt track. Arthur didn't hesitate and drove the Ute
down there and eventually came out on a wide open grassy
clearing with a few kangaroos grazing near a flowing rivers
edge. Arthur parked the car and took his pistol and loaded his
crossboww with his remaining Jelignite arrow and waited by his
car using the door as cover, while Brodie did the same on the
other side with her rifle. The sound of bikes passed quickly and
continued on for a few more minutes until it completely
disappeared into the distance. Despite the Bikiess seemingly
gone, they stayed in the same position for hours just waiting to
make sure they didn't come back past.

I'm gonna try and get moving a bit on this story, I'm already
about 5 chapters ahead in my head, so I think I should get
moving, before these become hard to write, because they're too
fleshed out in my head, that I can't put them in writing
properly. Like my next chapter will be...

damn dude I'm running out of vocal points but this story is of
marvelous view for it's fantastic idea for a story, dialogue
bounces back between emotional moments and brutal survival.
Yep but don't over-do it with creative thinking as one idea
might replace another so if you have any ideas or thoughts for
your stories be sure to write them down and save them for
later.. your story is awesome enough but it could get better
with age and taste lol.

Don't worry OG. I got something better coming and sticking with
the post apocalyptic theme. This one has a better thought out
plot and storyline and I'll probably finish it, because I've got
it though out already.
