Wasteland: Oakland Story (On hold)

12th August 2030
Southern Cross Militia Base - Abandoned Small Airport
All over the Southern Cross Base: soldiers prepared themselves
and their gear, while officers prepared their plans. Wilks drove
his armour plated Four-Wheel-Drive into an old hanger full of
similar vehicles, he exited his vehicle with a can of spray
paint and headed to the front of the metal grey car. His
Engineer: Amos, placed a car battery beside the car and hooked
up a jumper lead, placed a welding rod in the jumper lead clamp
and then with his freehand rubbed a crack in the armour with a
wire brush and dropped the brush and closed his eyes as he
started to weld the crack up.
Jack the Gunner for Wilks's Car pushed a trolley full of weapons
and ammo boxes towards the car and the Support Gunner: Jerry
pushing his own trolley with First Aid Kits, 4 batteries rigged
up with gun powder charges, more ammo boxes and large containers
of water. Wilks painted 6 - 6 on the bonnet of the car with the
blue spray paint.
Jack loaded 4 boxes of 303 ammunition in the back where the back
seat once had been, now are two small spinning top seats welded
in place for the Engineer and Support Gunner, plus two 303 Lee
Enfield Bolt Action Rifles. In the front, in the foot space of
the passenger seat, he placed 2 boxes of 7.62 ammunition and an
L1A1 (FN FAL VARIENT) Rifle, underneath the drivers seat he
placed a box of 45. Caliber ammunition and an M1911 Pistol on
the dash in front of the Steering wheel. Jerry chucked a first
aid kit in the back with 303. Ammunition and a container of
water with the first aid kit and then put everything else in his
Trolley in the space in the back of the car.
Amos packed up his tool kit and put it in the car as well and
caught up Jack and Jerry taking the trolleys back to the armory
and Wilks moved the car to parking space in the hanger and met
up with his crew as they were heading back from the Armory.
"Boys, you ready for Tomorrow?" Wilks asked his crew, "Psyched
mate" Jack said followed by a laugh. "Let's go to the mess, they
cooking Kangaroo" Wilks said, "Alright" Amos said speaking for
himself as well as Jack and Jerry.

Sergeant Doyle lead his squad of 29 other foot soldiers towards
the armory from the Mess Hall, he walked in first and received a
fresh kit for the next day, consisting of Grey Old World
Military Gear, a trench knife, a canteen, a 357. Snub nose
Revolver, a Pipe bomb and box of matches.
Everyman involved in the mission the following day received this
standard kit a main weapon depending on their Company and
position, For Doyles Squad the 3rd Squad 3rd Company, he
received an M14 and M1911 instead of the Snub Rose Revolver, his
riflemen got either a 303. Bolt Action Rifle, a 308. Bolt Action
Rifle and a 30-06 Bolt Action Rifle, his Support Gunners either
got M14's or L1A1's, his Snipers got Scoped 308 Bolt Action
Rifle and his Medic and Engineer got 870 Remington Shotguns.
Sergeant Doyle's squad was exactly the same as the other 4
squads in Company 3, and the 5 Squads in Company 2, the 5 Sqauds
in Company 4, and the 5 Squads in Company 5. Every 30 man squad
has: A Sergeant, 2 Snipers, 3 Support Gunners, A Medic, 2
Engineers and 21 Riflemen. Doyle lead his squad to the 3rd
Company Quarters in a large tent next to an abandoned 747 forced
to land on the airstrip during the Event.
"Sarge?" Doyle's second in command called, Doyle looked Davidson
"What?" he asked, "I got a bad feeling about tomorrow" Davidson
said, "You gotta ignore them Davidson, you had a bad feeling
when we fighting the Hibrim Clan near shattered rocks, we didn't
lose a single man" Doyle reminded Davidson. "But to be fair
Sarge, we were over prepared and we were defending the high
ground against under prepared under armed, untrained savages, I
was under the assumption they were a formidable force" Davidson
said.
Doyle laughed. "Look it will be hard battle tomorrow, but most
of those Geeks haven't fought a well trained, well armed enemy
of any decent size, close to half our boys, including me and you
have. So don't worry about it" Doyle said. "Alright Sarge"
Davidson accepted Doyle's advice and laid down in his bed.

Captain Strooker walked into an old house where the V.I.P
platoon quarters were located and looked around the room, seeing
the Veteran Soldiers had all stopped what they were doing and
were now looking at Strooker, "I need 8 men, 6 snipers, a medic
and an Engineer to assist me to a vantage point overlooking the
Government compound tomorrow and help me direct the main
assault. Bulldog stood up with, "I'm ya medic" He said and
Strooker threw him an old world coin.
"These coins get you special equipment for tomorrow from the
armory" Strooker explained, Lollipop, Spoon, Rogers and Link all
stood up together, "Blue. Solo. We need you two" Lollipop said,
Blue and Solo slowly got up and looked at Blacky, an Engineer,
"If Blacky comes, we'll tag along" Solo demanded, Blackie stood
up and shrugged, "What not?" He said, Strooker nodded and passed
a coin to each man who volunteered and then left the V.I.P
Platoon quarters and headed towards General Haultons
headquarters, a grounded Private Jet belonging to an iconic
resident of Oakland before the Event.

Sergeant Hinterman sat on the edge of his bed, looking at his
squad who preparing their weapons, 1st squad, 1st Company 15 men
trained in small squad combat. Just like the other 9 squads in
the 1st Company. A Sergeant, a Support Gunner, a Medic and 12
Riflemen. The Sergeant and the Medic use 870 Shotguns, the
Riflemen use the M14 and the Support Gunner uses a L1A1.
Hintermen did a roll call in his head off his men.
Lurch, Copper, Ace, Panda, Boots, Flash, Brit, Hawkes, Wally,
Sam, Prop and A.J the Riflemen, Rolland the support Gunner, and
Beans the medic. Hintermen helps prepare his men for a mission
that may turn the tide of the Wasteland. His squad had been
together for months and loyal as brothers to one and other, but
nobody except Hintermen and Beans had been in a real dangerous
combat situation like what they were about to face.

"General Haulton" Strooker said as he saluted General Haulton,
"At Ease Strooker, continue Robertson" General Haulton said.
"Everybody is ready to move out, everybody has their times and
orders, most of the kits have been dispensed. "Good" Major
Haulton said and walked away from his Majors and over to a map
on the wall, trying to hide the shaking of his hands from his
officers.
"Sir whats wrong?" Major Jochown asked, "I'm excited to find out
whats in those god damn compounds" Haulton exclaimed while
trying to hid his nervousness.

13th August 2030
Bushland outside of Oakland Township
"Captain Lin, sir?" Sergeant Terrance called as moved quickly to
catch Captain Lin leading the 3rd Company. His Company. Lin
looked at Terrance, Terrance saluted, "Sir 3rd Squad, 1st
Company, Sergeant Terrance" He introduced himself, "What do you
want Sergeant? Lin asked while still focusing straight ahead.
"Sir according to the battle plans, my squad is advancing very
closely to your Company, would you like our support?" Terrance
asked.
"Yes, but you stick to your flank and follow your orders, if you
gotta take out an outpost, I suggest you do that first" Lin
ordered, "Yes sir" Terrance said and rejoined his squad,
consisting of: Coster the Support Gunner, Trench the Medic and
the Riflemen: Scrible, Bones, Wes, Stuart, Corky, Erickson,
Smokey, Fred, Gadget, Swish, Magic, and Foghorn.
"What'd he say Terrance?" Fred asked, "Take out our objective
first and then cover their flank" Terrance explained, "How are
we going to take it out?" Corky asked, "Easy Corky. Coster,
Bones, Wes, Stuart, Gadget and myself engage the outpost, Corky,
you, Scrible and Erickson engage their flank and the rest sneak
around back plant the Jerry Bomb" Terrance explained. "Easy"
Corky said.
"Consider yourselves lucky, 1st Squad has to take 2 outposts and
an old Military Checkpoint from the Technology War" Terrance
explained, "Jesus who'd they piss off?" Trench asked, "Well
Hintermen has a habit of showing up the higher ranks in battle,
about 7 months back, we were facing a Tribe defending a beached
Military Supply ship, Robertson was just missed by a Dynamite
explosion, he got a few scratches and was covered in pieces of
Captain Myer. He cowered in an impact hole and Hinterman took
over and changed our attack plan, from frontal charge, to what
Strooker calls the Spread and Support" Terrance explains.
"So Robertson has a problem with Hinterman?" Stuart asked,
"Robertson shouldn't be leading this, if Hinterman was a Major,
he'd been in front of the pack leading an outrages and hard to
follow attack plan" Terrance explained, "He your butt buddy or
something Serge?" Wes cracked, "Nope, he has saved my life more
than once without him, we'd be using bolt action rifles instead
of these beautiful weapons" Terrance explained to his squad.

Outskirts of Oakland Township
"Captain Strooker, I would like to thank you again for this
beautiful weapon" Lollipop said looking at his Silenced and
Scoped M14 and the Silenced M1911 on his hip, everybody except
Strooker had the same Weapons, Strooker had a silenced MP5 and a
Silenced M1911. "Look you keep me alive and take out at least 4
Geek Officers, and I'll fill out the paperwork to let you boys
keep them weapons" Strooker offered.
"Deal, now tell us what your plan is, once we have a force
assembled, to attack the compound. "Spread and Support, spread
out our men, flank the Geeks and cover each others advance,
every sniper provides support" Strooker explained, "Perfect"
Lollipop said.

Captain Stanley and Captain Lin lead there respective Companies
into the East Side of the Large town of Oakland, heading
straight for the East Supply Checkpoint. "6th Company Car coming
through" somebody yelled, the car pulled up along side Captain
Lin and Captain Stanley, "Sir Car 5, 6th Company, the Checkpoint
has 50 extra troops overseeing a load of scavenged ordinance"
Pod the Driver explained. "Alright thanks" Stanley said and the
car drove off.
"Sergeant Tucker" Stanley called, Tucker came running up to
them, "Yes Sir?" Tucker reporter, "Every Sniper in my Company is
to focus on a truck in the middle of the checkpoint, don't let
them Geeks near it" Stanley ordered, "Roger sir" Tucker saluted
and then started walking back through the 2nd Company telling
everyman with a scoped rifle their new objective.

Cheers Wb, I got that idea from Saving Private Ryan, when that
dude tries to stick the grease covered sock full of explosives
to a tank.

13th August 2030
Northwest Outskirts of Oakland
"Sergeant Bailey?" Captain Hubert called, the leader of the 5th
Squad in the 5th Company jogged ahead of the Company and caught
up to Hubert. "Yes sir?" Bailey reported, "Your squad is on
point" Hubert ordered, "Sir my squad has no combat experience,
my guys will freeze up at the first sign of fire" Bailey tried
to reason, "Best way to gain some experience then" Hubert
stated. "Yes sir" Bailey said Reluctantly and then stopped as
Hubert marched forward. "Fuck..."
"Dane, get my squad up front" Bailey ordered Dane one of the
Squads riflemen, and after several minutes the entire 30
soldiers of the 5th Squad were leading the other 121 men through
the streets. Bailey was quietly telling everyman in his squad
what to do when they are fired on. His gut was telling him that
many of his men weren't going to survive.

Eastern Side of Oakland
Pod drove through the streets quietly and slowly; scouting,
Horse his gunner was scanning the streets, Jim the Support
Gunner was covering their rear and Stretch was on the lookout
with binoculars, they were the 5th Car in the the 6th Company,
Wilks used to be the gunner for Pod, but proved to be a better
driver than gunner and they gave him Car 6 and they took on
Horse who was wounded and can't be active for to long because it
becomes very hard for him to breath, so they put him in a car.
Pod stopped in the middle of the rubble littered streets and
waited as Car 13 was coming the other way, crewing Car 13 was
Pony, the driver, Bobby the gunner, Bazooka the Engineer and
Carter the Support Gunner, "Anything?" Pod asked, "Small Geek
patrol, few blocks over" Pony said, "We'll get them when the
shooting starts" Pod said, "Alright" Pony said and hit his
dashboard and both cars continued traveling.

Southwest Side of Oakland
Hintermen and his squad entered a building and the squad went to
their positions ready to attack the first outpost on their
target list. "Now" Hintermen ordered and kicked open and old
door and his squad ran out lead by Rolland who started firing,
he took cover and continued firing on the old house surrounded
by sandbags and rubble. A couple of Geeks ran out of the house,
Rolland hit one in the head as he exited the house and Lurch
shot the other in the stomach as he and his squad mates
attacked.
Lurch took cover and covered Copper as he jumped over the rubble
and sandbag wall and fired on the wounded Geek and another that
ran out out the door, Hintermen jumped the wall next and ran to
the door and fired into the open doorway twice and then moved
in, followed Ace and Panda who had also jumped the wall. Boots
and Flash climbed the over the wall and went around the side of
the house. A Geek fired on Rolland from a second story window,
Rolland fired back, missing every shot.
Hintermen ran up the stairs and shoot the Geek firing at Rolland
in the back and the Geeks back exploded in blood and he fell out
the window, Panda fired on a Geek coming from a room, putting 2
bullets into his chest and another in the wall behind the Geek.
Rolland moved up and followed the rest of the squad as they
climbed the wall and went into the house.
Beans stopped Rolland as they waited outside and guarded the
exit, Boots came back around the house and joined Beans and
Rolland covering the exit, "Clear!" Boots yelled. Hintermen
checked the final room on the 2nd story, "Clear!" He yelled.
"Clear" yelled Wally from the kitchen. The entire squad
regrouped outside.
"That's one boys, I bet all of you glad I made you train for
this, huh?" Hintermen said, Nobody said anything, "Alright the
next outpost is 7 blocks north, but be on the lookout now, we
made a lot of noise, there will be patrols coming this way.

Eastern Side of Oakland
"Attack!" Ordered Stanley and Lin and every soldier did as they
were told, catching the Geeks by surprise, Snipers shot every
Geek close to the truck, Support Gunners, advanced slowly and
worked together to keep constant fire Checkpoint, Engineers and
Medics advanced with the Support Gunners for safety reasons as
they were more valuable alive than a Rifleman.
The Riflemen advanced quickly and shot at anything that moved,
Sergeant Tucker and his 4th Squad were the first to make it to
the checkpoint, taking out the unprepared Geeks in a close
quarters fight. After 10 Minutes of fighting the Militia had
secured the Eastern Checkpoint with just 3 dead and 5 wounded,
one badly.
2 Medics began operating on the wounded soldier right there, he
had lost the right half of his chest to a shotgun blast. "Don't
let them watch" Lin ordered as men were starting to gather
around, the Sergeants began moving there squads through the
checkpoint, while the Engineers checked it for ammo and
supplies, the other Medics helped the other wounded men and
Stanley collected ID from the 3 dead and counted all the dead
Government Soldiers.
The medics tried desperately to save the soldier with the
missing shoulder but he bled out, "Shit" One of the medics
yelled and fell onto his backside and sat there holding his
helmet, hands covered in blood. Stanley walked over and grabbed
the improvised ID from the 4th dead soldier and looked at the
Medics, "That's one, don't let this guy effect your next one!"
Stanley ordered.

Middle of Oakland
A Government scout rode to the compound a on a Motorbike, he
jumped off it and ran to the gate where he was greeted by
General Nipton of the Government Oakland Compound Military Unit.
"Sir as we speak our soldiers are losing or probably have lost
the Eastern Checkpoint, they are advancing quickly, I passed a
patrol and sent them to help, what do we do?" The Scout asked.
Nipton looked around, "Lieutenant!" Nipton yelled at passing
Lieutenant leading his large patrol out of the gate.
"Get your men to the Eastern Checkpoint, engage the enemy as
soon as you see them, tactical retreat back to the Electrical
Grid" Nipton ordered and then looked yelled for an officer
nearby, a Captain came out of the gate, "yes sir, get Betty and
Bonnie to the electrical grid, "Sir Bonnie is already deployed
elsewhere, "Get Barbra up there then" Nipton ordered, "yes sir"
The Captain saluted and ran back into the compound. "Scout, go
and checkout the Northwest outpost and then do every other
outpost and checkpoint, we're under attack!" Nipton ordered.
"Yes sir" The Scout saluted and then took off on his bike and
Nipton headed back into the Compound to get as many of his men
moving as possible.

Terrance and his Squad moved up a street quickly, taking cover
regularly to avoid in case they are fired upon. "Contact!"
Hintermen yelled and fired a shot from his 870 Remington the
Geek scout dropped to the ground with blood spurting from his
neck. Terrance put a second shot into him and finished him off.
The Squad moved up and checked the scouts body, then more shots
went off, they looed around and spotted Coster firing his L1A1
at 3rd story window, he stopped and waited and then fired again
and a spray of blood came out the window followed by a sniper
rifle. "I gotta babysit you bastards all the time don't I!"
Coster joked.
"Come' on and be ready, the Outpost is just around the corner up
there" Terrance ordered, the squad moved up, "Down Right"
Terrance said without question, every man in the squad went
right and hit the ground, "Stay quiet and get hidden" Terrance
ordered, the squad hid themselves in rubble and under things and
waited.
A small squad of Government troops walked through, coming to
check out the shots, "Fire!" Terrance yelled as the Government
troops walked past, the squad all fired as quickly as they
could, in any position they could. A hail of gunfire and blood
spilled as the Government troops hit the ground, the squad fired
at the dead Government troops on the ground.
"Cease Fire" Terrance ordered, "Come' on" Terrance ordered, the
squad moved up the street and as they turned the corner, they
were fired on, Wes, who was on point ran and dived behind a car
avoiding every shot fired at him, the rest of the squad backed
up. Terrance took 30 seconds to come up with a plan. "Coster get
to the corner and fire on that position, Fred and Erickson,
throw your pipe bombs up the street and then give Coster
covering fire. Foghorn and Swish get across the street to the
other corner, get Wes out of there. Everybody else on me, we're
going through that building".
Terrance moved up to the old door and pushed it open, Scrible
and Bones moved through first and cleared the first room and
then went through a hole in the wall into an alleyway between 2
buildings, they climbed through an smashed out window and
cleared that building. "Now" Terrance ordered and then followed
his squad through the buildings.
Coster opened fire and then Fred ran out and throw his pipe bomb
down the street and then Erickson checked his lit pipe bomb to
Fred who chucked it down the street as well, then Erickson
covered Fred as he ran to cover, while they did that, Foghorn
and Swish ran across the street and grabbed Wes as they passed
him and all 3 ran to the other side of the street.
The rest of the squad executed the 4 remaining Geeks in the
outpost in the middle of the street in a hail of gunfire similar
to a firing squad. The entire squad regrouped at the outpost,
that was a just a wall less shack into the middle of the street,
with a sandbag and rubble wall around it and an old RV to one
side.
"Some checkpoint!" Coster said as he arrived, Terrance looked
curiously at the RV and pumped his shotgun and walked into it,
he walked back out and looked around, "Split up and clear the
area, stay away from the RV" Terrance ordered his squad.
Everybody followed his orders and Terrance chucked his pipe bomb
into the RV and moved away as it exploded into a fiery wreck.
After 15 minutes of searching the squad regrouped at the
Outpost, "Anything?" Terrance asked, "No sir" Wes spoke for the
whole squad. "Well, I guess we better regroup with the 2nd and
3rd and support their flank" Terrance suggested, "Sounds like a
plan" Wes said. The Squad walked away from the outpost and
burning RV, that was slowly setting it's surroundings on fire as
well.
