Volition really took groundbreaking tips on how to fuck the
third game up my advice this time is do the absolute opposite to
anything that springs to mind apart from obviously copying GTA
IV.

the story can be shit probably play it once anyway.. but the
gameplay is whats important and it needs to be improved upon by
listening to its fans but as shadow would say, the true fans of
SaintsRow those who stuck by the series for better or worse.
I'm not apart of the SRforums and nor do i plan on returning but
as always i like to share my ideas on how to make SR worth
playing.
Seeing as the saints are staying in Steelport - give the player
secret areas to explore an underground stag facility would be
nice.
kill off Zimos - seriously the guy gets on everybodys nerves he
needs to die.
No more zombies in the campaign - If they gotta be there bring
em back as cheat or in survival mode.
Make reference to older characters- It sucks we never found out
what really happend to johnnygat and dex was forgotten about.
Fun Cheats!!! - Saints Row 2 has good codes but i would like to
see more along the lines of GTA San Andreas ped riots ped with
guns and flying cars.
Bring back Pushbacks!!! - Why the F you gonna take something out
that makes the SR games more enjoyable and a nice excuse to kill
gangsters.
Activities - Alot of us would like to see fight club and fuzz
back in but with agression, fight club need a combat system
similar to sleeping dogs and fuzz should be exactly the same as
the random crimes from the true crime games.
40s and blunks - Let us get buzzed and high as a kite
Flashpoints/gang operations - whatever you call them need to be
beefed up in terms of their difficulty, i'll use the levels from
crackdown as a good example.
the gang bosses were damn near impossible to beat without
upgrading that kind of challenge needs to be implemented into
the hideouts.
A powerful enemy - Just because the saints sit pretty atop their
shiny throne dont mean they cant be toppled by someone greater,
someone whos been around longer and has higher connections
within the criminal underworld, a type of group that strikes
fear into the hearts of millions i can't think of any stronger
adversary other than the illuminati or mafia.
my final request goes without question
NO more fucking sillyness!!!!!! the childish humor and
ridiculous behavior has to stop!

The Boss needs to die and then we take Oleg and Shaundi as they
start there own gang and fight the Saints Empire, no run by the
other lieutenants.
Take the best points of customization from all 3 games and mix
them together, namely the ability to change the length of your
characters hair from Saints Row 1, everything from Saints Row 2
and the facial customization of Saints Row 3.
And by starting your own gang, you can pick styles, colour, and
maybe go a Godfather 2 style with picking lieutenants. Maybe
even the name.
I agree with you OG on every point

Yeah I think strongholds need to come back, i didnt feel
satisfyed after killing all the gang memeber in one of those
territory takeover things. And the push backs in SR3 were
annoying, fighting wave after wave of enemies got plain old a
boaring, I only did about 4 of them then I stopped answering my
phone.

glad you said it AB
godfather 2 for gang customization
and premade gang styles i liked and should be kept as a template
for players who dont care to create their own gang or rather
stick with the saints if given a choice.
maybe V had this civil war plot in which the saints turned on
each other planned, there enough saints to startup a rebellion
of old versus new
Pierce, Shaundi, Tobias, Laura, Mr. Wong, Will the pimp and
Johnny Gat if he's still alive
vs
Oleg Kirrlov, Zimos, Angel Muerte, Kinzie Kensington, Viola
DeWynter, Josh Birk and Mayor Reynolds
the new class of saints should be destroyed especially zimos for
having ruined the SR franchise.

SR3 techincally had strongholds if you paused the game on some
of the missions it says "quit stronghold" I know three count
beatdown was identified as a mission although it played out the
same as a stronghold would have.
The survival waves in SR3 is the same old carnage you would find
while rampaging in steelport but are restricted to a small red
circle with either having to kill all enemies or wait out the
clock.
on the otherhand.. pushbacks had you fighting off gangs and
murdering their lieutenants to save your hoods. The only
downside to it was the hoods in question could not be taking
back by the enemy but it was still fun blowing their asses up!
What i had hoped for after playing red faction G was for the
Syndicate to intiate a pushback in a turf taking by the saints
and for that turf to be won the saints would have to beat the
syndicate in a tug-of-war so to speak so say for instance
the syndicate has 400 soilders and saints only have 200
so onscreen the meter indicates Syndicate 400 - Saints 200 (the
team with 0 soilders loses and is either pushbacked or loses
their turf.
it makes perfect sense if you've ever played RFG or star wars
battlefront.
I just love how my suggestion for pushbacks was thrown out the
window in regards to a piss poor survival mode.

This is a tough one. How to fix the damage Saints Row series?
First and foremost, commit more than an afternoon and a box of
crayons to writing the story, please.
Second, dial the stupidity back a few notches. The tone struck
in Saints Row 2 was, in my opinion, the definitive Saints Row.
This opinion seems to be shared amongst most SR fans.
3) Don't be so cheap and lazy with the missions. Some of the
missions in SR3 were actually good, but there weren't very many
of them. No cutscenes, activities, or phone calls as missions.
Give us a legitimate 40 missions, not counting side content.
4) Bring back Strongholds and Pushbacks from SR1 and SR2, and I
wouldn't mind the Gang Operations and Survival missions from
SR3, as long as they're in addition to, not instead of.
5) Expand Steelport, similar to how they expanded Stilwater
between SR1 and SR2. Steelport wasn't bad, but it was too small
and pretty boring. It just needs more. Not just more
geographically, but more points of interest. There's not much
to exploring in SR3 because Steelport is just not very
interesting. But it could be.
6) More weapon variety. There weren't enough weapons in SR3,
and all the classic SR weapons were gone. The SR3 weapons were
fine, but why not have the legacy weapons too? Who didn't miss
the 44 Shepard and the T3K Urban, or the AR-40 Xtnd and the
Tombstone? If it were up to me, all the weapons from SR1, SR2,
and SR3 would return. When it comes to weapons, variety is the
spice of life.
7) Customization. SR3 sucked for customization, there's just no
way around it. The facial customization was arguably better,
but everything else went downhill. No more preset outfits, no
more painted on jewelry. Give us completely customizable
clothing in infinite combinations the way it was in SR2. All
clothing should be 'modular' so it can all be mixed and matched
however the player sees fit. And let's not forget, give us good
tattoos again. The tattoo selection in SR3 was disgraceful,
period. And let's have better hair selections.
That's about it. The big ones are better story, better tone,
and more proper missions. If they adequately addressed
everything on this list, I could forgive them for SR3 and call
myself a Saints Row fan again.

I'm not sure what this forum's policy is on reviving old threads
(I got chewed out A LOT on the SRF for doing it) But I've been
thinking about Saints Row 4 lately and wanted to give my
opinions on the direction of the game. Since, from what I've
heard at least, there is a level of tyranny of the old SRF in
terms of general discussion and debate - I would feel more
comfortable posting my thoughts here.
I have been a fan of Saints Row since the very first game. I
joined the forums shortly before SR2's release and was super
hyped up about it. The first two remain my favorite installments
in the series for plenty of reasons (most of them relate to
nostalgia, I won't lie.) The Third made me step back a bit. I
was preoccupied at the time of its release and, from what I saw
of the gameplay and all, didn't exactly care for the new
direction. No doubt Volition was trying to distance SR as a
series from GTA. I remember CONSTANTLY seeing comparison videos
between the two series while, in actuality, they aren't alike at
all. So the good old Vs decided they would make The Third the
most ridiculous, over the top, non-stop action game they
possibly could while retaining that same sparkle that made the
first two great. I have to say that they failed at that. It's
almost like the Resident Evil series. Survival horror was RE's
roots and action/adventure is where they're going now. So, RE
has two sets of fans. Those who liked survival horror and those
who like action. Capcom has been struggling to find a balance
between them to satisfy everyone. Volition is going through the
exact same thing.
There are some who adore the new SR. And there are some who
think that the first two were better. So, the logical thing for
them to do would be to find the balance between them and try to
satisfy everyone....but they didn't. It's obvious with the new
trailers and info that Volition is catering to the newer crowd
of fans. It doesn't make me, or many of the SR fans, happy -
but its what they're doing.
Yet, in the midst of all this ridiculous crap coming out of the
SR site, I can't hate the direction they're going. I can't
honestly say that I didn't enjoy SR3. I did - but less than the
first two. I can try to hate that they're destroying the lore of
the game series that I, and quite a few others, helped establish
through our stories on the SRF. BUT I CAN'T. For all the bad
shit that this next installment looks to be harboring, I'm
actually kind of excited about it. This shit is more complicated
to write out than when I first discovered sex. Volition is
making me goddamn frustrated.
But now that I established where I'm coming from, I can get to
what I want to see.
Story and customization are my two biggest buggaboos. I could
make a million goddamn characters on SR2 and not get fed up with
it. In SR3, I could make two and then realize how similar they
look because the awesome clothes, hair, and bling I loved from
the first was replaced with stupid shit like mascot costumes and
bondage gear. Really?! Fucking bondage gear? Who the fuck wants
to run around wearing that? As far as story goes, I thought
SR3's held promise. A new city, with a new cast of gangs. But it
was all 1 gang, essentially. There was no real variety because
all the gangs you fought were allied. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME
STARTED ON JOHNNY. For the sake of space, I can't even touch on
how Johnny was represented in SR3.
I'm looking forward to seeing where the whole thing goes.
Customization MAY have been improved upon. But story....I
honestly don't have too much hope for it with the "president of
the US" trailer's release. But, as I said, I can't hate the
game. Damn, I typed a lot. Since there isn't a "foot in mouth"
smiley, this one will do. :-X

I have to agree completely with you yoyo! Even the Resident Evil
point out, I played the first resident evils when I was a
youngun, they were slow paced, alot of puzzles, alot of strategy
(With saving ammo and health and such!) But I loved them to
death, now the new action packed ones come out and I'm meh about
them. You'd think if it was the other way around, a hyper little
kid would want a fast over the top game like that, but if the
way the did the games was reversed Making resident evil like
they are now but back in the day I think I would of felt the
same way about that style of gaming. I think same goes for the
SR series.
And I have to agree about the customization, sense all the
clothing was pre-made for you in SR3 that took out the
creativity and I didnt care about what my charater wore, but in
1 and 2 I would make a new attire almost every other mission, I
thought it was cool that you could mess with the layers and such
picking the shirt that went under your coat.
I think they should fire all the writers and hire all of us to
write the game, we would make it pretty damn epic lol!!!
