Revelation
It had been three or four weeks since they took down Ultor,
Shaundi hadn’t been keeping with time, they’d all been partying
too much, which led to drug use and drinking… a lot. Evelyn had
stayed clear of Meth, so far as Shaundi knew. Evelyn wasn’t
acting weird at all, until she got a call from a man named Dex.
“Wait, so what’s going on?” Shaundi asked, sleep apparent in her
voice. Evelyn was getting dressed, Shaundi had a hangover and
she was still curled up in bed. “I got a call from Dex, he said
that he wants to meet me at the Church, I haven’t been there
since the coma, and I haven’t seen Dex since then either, He’s a
sellout, I’m gonna teach him a lesson.” Evelyn finished pulling
on her heeled boots as she talked, and she walked around the
bed, Kissed Shaundi, then said, “I’ll be back later, try and get
some sleep, ok?” Shaundi shook her head, “Give me a sec, I’m
coming with.” Evelyn looked confused, “What?” Shaundi nodded as
she sat up, stretched, and walked over to the closet. “If you’re
teaching Dex a lesson, I wanna come too, Plus, all I’ve been
doing it partying here, I need some fresh air.” Evelyn nodded,
“Ok then.”
Shaundi pulled out a pair of purple straight leg jeans, a black
camisole, and her pair of heels that Evelyn bought. She dressed
quickly, then as she walked over to the bathroom to brush her
teeth and Hair, she asked Evelyn , “So who Exactly is Dex
anyways?” Shaundi brushed her teeth quickly, listening to what
Evelyn was saying. “He was a lieutenant in the Saints, he used
to be Julius’ go to guy, he was a bit bitchy though… anyways,
According to Gat he was offered a job at Ultor by Dane Vogel, he
took that opportunity and drove the final nail into the coffin
of the Saints.” Shaundi spit the toothpaste out of her mouth,
then said, “Ok, that’s fucked up.” Evelyn chuckled slightly and
said, “Yep, why do you think I wanna teach him a lesson so
badly?” Shaundi brushed through her hair quickly, then decided
to pull it back in a ponytail to get it out of her way, she did
so, and then brushed through the ponytail. She walked out of the
bathroom, and asked Evelyn, “How do I look?”
Evelyn smiled slightly as she stood and walked towards Shaundi,
“You look beautiful, as always.” Evelyn kissed Shaundi, pulling
her closer to her by the belt loops in her jeans. Shaundi pulled
away slightly, then said, “Revenge scheme?” Evelyn nodded
slightly, then said quietly, “Right…” Shaundi chuckled as she
grabbed her leather jacket off of a hanger, and pulled it on.
Evelyn was close behind her, pulling on a blazer as she walked
out of the room after Shaundi. Shaundi pushed the up button on
the Elevator, and Evelyn clipped something to the back of
Shaundi’s pants… her holster with her pistol in it. “Thanks Ev.”
Shaundi said, Embarrassed that she’d forgotten it again. Evelyn
smirked, “And you say I’m not good for anything.” Shaundi
gasped, and in an overly-dramatic tone replied, “I said no such
thing, you lying, deceiving wench!” Evelyn drew back. “Ow, harsh
Shaundi, harsh… I like it. Now save that trash talk for Dex.”
Shaundi laughed as she stepped into the elevator, Evelyn stepped
in after her and kissed her on the cheek, “Oh you’re too good to
me Ev.” Shaundi said as the doors closed.
The doors opened about a minute later, exposing them to the cold
air of late December. Wednesday was Christmas, it was Sunday.
Shaundi had Evelyn’s Christmas present wrapped and under the
tree in Evelyn’s office the night they put the tree up, that was
too much fun, Gat and Pierce helped, wearing santa hats and
drinking eggnog laced with lots of booze. Tamara and Jane, as
well as Rachel, were there too, and most of the saints that hung
around the hideout all the time poked their heads in at one
point to see what all the laughing and commotion was about.
Evelyn said, “Since it’s so cold, you wanna drive?” Evelyn
asked, looking at her temptress and shivering. Shaundi laughed
slightly, “Yeah, Hop in.” One thing that Shaundi didn’t forget,
was her keys, another was how to get to the church. Shaundi
didn’t even need GPS, she knew exactly how to get there, they
all did. Shaundi drove like Evelyn usually did, fast and
furious. They where there within five minutes, Shaundi parked
the car about a block away and walked to the church. They walked
in, Shaundi had her hand on her pistol, she had a bad feeling
about this. Evelyn looked around the church, Shaundi assumed it
was a big change from what it used to be.
They heard a door open, and Evelyn said, “The fuck took you so
lon-” But Evelyn turned and saw who walked through the door, it,
apparently, was not Dex. “You ain’t Dex.” Said an older male
voice from behind them. Shaundi turned, and she immediately
recognized who this man was, it was Julius Little, the man who
nearly killed Evelyn in the yacht explosion. Evelyn calmly
replied, “Neither are you.” Her features where rigid, like she
was restraining serious emotions. Shaundi stood on Evelyn’s
right flank, she had a feeling things where about to get real
ugly.
“You look different, you do-” But Evelyn whipped out her pistol
and said, “I didn’t do shit to my hair!” it was aimed at
Julius’s forehead, and his arms flew up in defense, “You pullin’
a gun on me?” Evelyn retorted, “I didn’t have time to plant a
bomb in a church, so this’ll have to do.” Julius chuckled
quietly, “You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.”
Evelyn’s tone was menacing, and she hoped that Evelyn would
never use it towards her, “Why don’t you educate me?” Julius
spat, “I don’t gotta explain shit to you!“ Evelyn stepped closer
to Julius, “See, this is where we’re going to have to agree to
disagree.”
“Why don’t you put the gun down, we both know you aren’t gonna
use it.” Convinced Julius, but Evelyn merely snarled, “Not yet.”
And moved with lightning speed and precision, hitting Julius in
the jaw with her pistol. He cried out, and fell to the ground,
Evelyn kneeled on top of him and hit him three times more before
she cocked her pistol, making Julius yell, “STOP!” Shaundi had
her back turned, she didn’t want to See Evelyn beat the shit out
of someone she used to care about, that could be her if they
don’t play their cards right…
“I never thought I’d hear you beg Julius.” Snarled Evelyn, the
anger apparent in her voice, it all boiled down to this one
intense moment between her and the man she trusted more than her
own father, who took that trust and blew it to hell, nearly
killing Evelyn. “I’m not beggin’, I’m tryin’ to talk some sense
into you.” Evelyn cut him off and yelled, “I’m done listening to
your bullshit!”
“Put it together, Dex wanted us in the same place!” Evelyn then
inquired, “Yeah? Why’d he want that?” Then, the sound of
breaking glass was heard, Shaundi looked to her right, as did
Evelyn, a smoke screen grenade was thrown through a window.
Shaundi leveled her pistol in front of her as the room filled
with smoke, Evelyn stood upright, and she helped Julius up as he
asked, “Can we kill each other later?”
Evelyn turned to Shaundi, she nodded, and walked towards the
west entrance of the church. She stuck close to a wall, and when
she peeked out of the corner to the doorway, she was met with
Ultor Masako. “Shit!” Shaundi said as she jumped back, firing at
them. Evelyn fired on them as well, and so did Julius. Julius
was a good shot, but he was still an asshole, Shaundi wouldn’t
put it past Evelyn to kill him later after they where done here.
Shaundi kicked the dead body, then saw more of them coming
through the door. She knelt down, Evelyn behind her, and fired
at them. The first three bullets hit two of the Masako, one
hitting his knee cap, the other hitting him in the skull as he
fell. The other penetrated the second Masako’s armor, likely
collapsing a lung or something. Evelyn fired rapidly behind
Shaundi, hitting another two men that charged in as Shaundi
reloaded her pistol.
***
Half an hour later
***
Wave after Wave of Masako attacked the church, Shaundi thought
they’d never stop coming, until Evelyn took down an attack
chopper that came once they defeated about 6 bears full of
Masako. “Let’s not get too excited ladies, This ain’t over yet.
Let’s get to my car.” Shaundi looked at Evelyn, she nodded, then
came up to her and whispered, “We need to get him to trust us,
trust is important in this game.” Shaundi nodded, then had to
wonder, “What game?” But she didn’t do so out loud, Julius was
only a few paces ahead of them, just out of earshot.
Shaundi heard sirens approaching, and Julius took off running
towards his car, Evelyn and Shaundi did the same. They turned a
corner, Julius hopped into a black Eliswolf, convertible.
Classy, apparently working as a tour guide in an old church paid
well in Stilwater. Shaundi got in the back, Evelyn got in the
front next to Julius, and all three buckled up, Evelyn didn’t
even have to be reminded about it either. Shaundi wondered if
Julius was a bad driver or something.
Shaundi had little time to wonder, before Julius slammed the car
into gear and sped off, he said, “Whaddya say we get the hell
out of here? You two shoot, I’ll drive.” Evelyn nodded, and
Shaundi didn’t argue. She loaded her pistol again, and kept it
out, she kept her head on a swivel and her ears open, looking
for any police or Masako. She didn’t have to wait long for
something to shoot at, though.
Over the next few minutes, Shaundi discovered a new type of
RPG, and how effective it could be. It was called an
Annihilator, it could lock onto and take out an Ultor attack
chopper in one shot. Shaundi was impressed, once two helicopters
and several police cruisers had been blown up, Julius pulled up
next to the amphitheatre on the college campus, luckily there
wasn’t a play going on.
Once all the helicopters and Masako where taken care of, Shaundi
was walking next to Evelyn, towards the exit of the theatre.
Julius was trailing behind them, he said in a joyous tone, “Just
like old times, playa.” Evelyn nodded, “Yeah.” She then whipped
around the put a bullet through Julius’ left shoulder. The
gunshot startled Shaundi, but she knew it was coming. She stood
behind Evelyn while Julius gasped, “Jesus.. I thought we where
past this.” His right hand covered the bullet wound, he used his
left arm and his legs to crawl backwards towards a column so he
could rest his head… it was a sad sight, Shaundi had to admit,
but the fucker deserved what he was getting.
He nearly killed the love of Shaundi’s life before Shaundi even
knew who the fuck Evelyn was, Shaundi imagined how differently
her life would be at the moment if Julius had actually killed
Evelyn, if Evelyn’s fighting spirit hadn’t been strong enough…
Shaundi shook her head slightly, sending the thought away with
it. “Not by a fuckin’ long shot.” Evelyn hissed, her gun trained
on Julius’ skull.
In the process of crawling towards the column, with Evelyn
following him a few feet behind every inch of the way, Julius
said, “Don’t you get it? The Saints didn’t solve a goddamn
thing, drugs where still being pushed, innocent people where
still getting killed, all we did was turn into Vice Kings that
wore purple.” Evelyn lowered her gun slightly, and said, “Jesus
Christ, you sound like a pussy.”
Shaundi snorted back a small chuckle at that, Shaundi didn’t
think that Evelyn heard, she kept her gaze, and her gun, on
Julius. “I sound like someone who isn’t a sociopath.” True…
Evelyn may have been a sociopath when she was referring to
business, but when it came to personal matters, the woman did
know how to be caring, kind, and sincere. “You wanna be the
killer with a conscience? Fine. Drop your flags and write a book
like King, but you never should’ve came after me.” As Evelyn
finished her sentence, she pointed the gun at Julius, then
gestured towards herself with it.
Shaundi couldn’t help but wonder… what was Evelyn like back
then? Shaundi knew that Evelyn said she didn’t talk much back
then. Julius then asked, “You telling me, that if I’d asked you
to walk away you would have said yes?” With that Evelyn leaned
towards him, and snarled, “Fuck no! This is My city!” Julius’
face took on a shocked expression, and in a voice that matched
his facial expression, he then said, “Jesus, you haven’t learned
a goddamn thing.”
Evelyn shorted, then corrected, “Wrong. I’ve learned that bein’
in charge is better than being a bitch that keeps her mouth shut
and does what she’s told. Your time’s over old man.” Julius
shook his head slightly, then asked, “What’s happened to you?”
Evelyn, now pacing slightly, retorted, “I woke up.” Julius
glanced at Shaundi quickly, then back to Evelyn, and he said,
“You owe me Playa, if it weren’t for me you would’ve died on
that street corner.” Evelyn then stopped pacing, and took
several steps towards Julius. As she did so, she screamed, “If
it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have been in a goddamn coma!”
Julius then said, while looking at Shaundi, “Then I guess that
makes us even.” Shaundi wondered why Julius was looking at her,
was he curious as to who she was? There was a gunshot, making
Shaundi jump. Julius’ head snapped back, and his body went limp.
His brains where splattered on the column he was leaning
against, and Evelyn whispered, “Not really.” She then glanced at
Shaundi as she walked slowly up the steps of the amphitheatre.
So… Shaundi wondered what was going to happen to Evelyn now, she
seemed slightly more on edge than usual on the ride back home.
“Ev, are you ok?” Shaundi inquired gently, touching Evelyn’s
hand. Evelyn moved her hand from the gear shift of the Nordberg
they’d stolen to the wheel, and retorted with an edge of anger,
“Shaundi, I just killed the man who taught me damn near
everything I know. Other than that, I’m peachy.” Shaundi drew
back slightly, it hurt to hear Evelyn use that tone on her.

the Saints Row 2 Storyline. :p

[shadow=purple,left]The Split[/shadow]
It had been nearly a month since Evelyn had killed Julius, and
her condition had only gotten worse. Evelyn had relapsed,
Shaundi was so frustrated right now. “Gat, what are we gonna do?
Evelyn is in no condition to lead.” Johnny thought for a second,
then looked away from the road to Shaundi, “I dunno Shaundi, our
girl definitely needs help. You want to try an intervention?”
Gat then looked back at the road, they where on the way back
from the Philips building, they’d just signed their deal with
Ultor. The deal stated that Ultor was now a part of the saints,
backing them 100% and funding them with whatever the fuck they
wanted.
“I think it’s a strong possibility. She’s shown that she can’t
do it on her own.” Gat nodded ever so slightly, and in a voice
that sounded pained, he said, “Call Pierce, let’s get the
intervention set up.” Shaundi’s heart pounded in her chest as
she thumbed through her contacts on her phone. She found
Pierce’s picture, and hit call. Her heart continued to pound
until he answered, “Yo, sup Shaundi? How’d the meeting go?”
Shaundi sighed, and answered, “The meeting was fine, we’re now
the Saints-Ultor group. Anyways, I need you to set up an
intervention, It’s time Evelyn gets the help she needs.”
Pierce was quiet for a moment, then he answered, “Yeah… ok,
she’ll be in her office when you get here.” Shaundi nodded, then
she said, trying to hide her emotions, “Thanks Pierce. See you
soon.” She hung up, and stuck the phone in her pocket. Gat
pulled to a stop at a red light, and looked over at Shaundi. She
had her eyes closed, her head resting against the head rest. Gat
reached over and put his hand on Shaundi’s shoulder. Shaundi
looked over at him slightly, he gave her a small smile and he
said, “Chin up, once Ev knows that we’re worried about her
she’ll snap to, ok?” Shaundi nodded, “Yeah, I guess you’re
right.”
The rest of the drive home was spent flipping through the radio
stations, not hearing anything Shaundi liked. Gat eventually
pulled up to Purgatory, and he cut the engine. Shaundi moved to
open the door, but Gat said, “Hold up.” Shaundi turned to him,
and asked, “What?” “I just wanted to prepare you, this isn’t
going to be easy, you know that right?” Shaundi thought for a
second, then nodded, “Yeah… I just want to get it done, you
know? The sooner Ev gets help the sooner she can be back to her
old self.” Gat nodded, and then said, “Let’s do it then.” They
both got out, and Shaundi walked to the elevator and pressed the
down button. Shaundi tapped her foot on the sidewalk, she was
wearing a pair of slacks, her heels that Evelyn had gotten for
her, and a purple camisole. Her hair was pulled back, a small
piece of her bangs where in front of her left eye.
The doors finally opened, and Shaundi quickly stepped in, as
well as Gat. They went down below, the doors opened and Shaundi
took a deep breath, sucking in air and exhaling it through her
mouth. Her heart fluttered, and beat faster and harder with
every step her and Gat took down the hall to Evelyn’s office.
Plush chairs where formed in a circle in the center of Evelyn’s
office. Evelyn, still in her pajamas, was in the one in the
back. Evelyn had her head hung low, her knees drawn up to her
chest. a white camisole accompanied her loose purple PJ pants.
Shaundi knocked on the door frame as she walked in, and she sat
down next to Evelyn. Pierce was sitting on the chair next to
Evelyn on her other side, and as Gat walked in, he closed the
door behind him.
“The fuck is this about?” Evelyn asked, finally looking up at
them. Gat took his seat, but he wasn’t laid back in it, none of
them where. They where all leaned forward, resting their elbows
on their knees, save Evelyn. She was still sitting there with
her knees up by her chest. Gat glanced at Shaundi, and nodded,
giving her a reassuring glance over his glasses. Shaundi took a
deep breath, and said, “Evelyn, we all know you’re still on
meth.” She paused, examining Evelyn’s blank facial features.
God, what did that shit do to her? Shaundi’s heart was heavy,
but she continued, “And quite frankly you need help. You’ve
proven to us that you can’t do this on your own, and that’s what
we’re here for, to help you.” Evelyn snorted, “Help? I’m fine.”
Pierce leaned forward more, and said, “Fine? Girl, look at
yourself, you’re loosin’ weight you don’t need to be loosing,
you’re seriously in trouble.” Evelyn rolled her eyes, “I’m fine,
Christ.” Gat spoke at this, his words where driven home with
conviction and power, “Evelyn Saunders. That name used to mean
power, beauty, and responsibility. Now, when I think of that
name, a strung out ex-banger comes to mind. Is that what you
want to be remembered as? An Ex-banger who could have had it
all?” Evelyn’s gaze turned steely as she looked at Gat. Her hair
was messy, like she hadn’t even ran a brush through it in a few
days.
“Fuck you say?” Evelyn snapped, unfolding her legs and leaning
forward out of her chair. Shaundi interrupted, she placed her
hand on Evelyn’s arm, and said, “Ev, Gat didn’t stutter. You’re
slipping, and if you keep doing this, you’re going to end up
that way in everyone’s memories.” Evelyn wrenched her arm away
from Shaundi, and spat, “Oh, that’s rich, coming from the
ex-druggy-talk of the town whore!”
Shaundi’s mouth hung open. A fire burned in her heart, a mixture
of anger, fear, and pain ate at it, part of her urged to hit
Evelyn, another part wanted to curl up and cry. Another feeling
emerged, a lump of sorrow in her throat. Gat opened his mouth to
speak, but Shaundi cut him off. “Is that what you think of me,
Ev? If I’m just a talk of the town whore, then why… why on
FUCKING earth would you tattoo this,” Shaundi paused, and stuck
out her left ring finger, and held it in front of Evelyn. She
continued “On me, if it wasn’t true?”
Evelyn’s jaw set, and she retorted, “I was playing along with
your little game.” Shaundi felt a piece of her heart, fuck it,
it was the whole damn thing, shatter. It must have shown on her
face, because Evelyn’s tone changed, but not in the way that
Shaundi hoped. “Oh, nice, did that hurt Shaundi?” Gat stood, and
said, “If that’s how you’re going to play, then I should deck
you right. Fucking. Now. You don’t toy with a woman’s heart, not
that woman, not the one that has spent the past year with you.
That’s not fuckin’ right.”
Evelyn stood too, and spat, “Fuck you say? I can do whatever the
fuck I want, it’s one of the perks of-” But Pierce cut her off.
As he stood, he said, “You’re not the leader of a gang, not
anymore. You can’t lead like this.” Evelyn’s features took on a
furious expression, and she asked, “You approve of this
Shaundi?” Shaundi stood as well, staring down slightly at
Evelyn. Evelyn was barefoot, Shaundi in her heels. “Evelyn, you
need help. You’re going to rehab weather you go on your own or
we have to drag you there.” Evelyn scowled, and said, “I don’t
wanna hear the word ‘rehab’ come out of any of you fucker’s
mouths again. I am fuckin’ fine.”
Gat interjected, “Ev, face the facts! You are strung the fuck
out, and you need some fuckin help! You’re destroying yourself,
your gang, hell you’re destroying the last year of your life!
All that you worked for, gone! Wake up Ev!” At this, Evelyn
slapped Gat. Shaundi and Pierce both grabbed Evelyn, and against
Evelyn’s will, forced her back into her chair. Evelyn then
pushed both of them, and said, “Fuck you all, I’m leaving.” with
that, Evelyn got up, and pushed past Gat, walking to the door.
Shaundi yelled, “You walk out that door, we’re fucking done!”
Evelyn stopped for a second, and looked over her shoulder. “We
where done a long time ago, Shaundi.” That did it. Shaundi
gasped, covering her mouth and nose with her hands. The mixture
of feelings she had was taken over by grief and sorrow, making
tears spill out of her eyes. Pierce was at her side in an
instant, he helped her sit down, and Gat was out the door after
Evelyn.
She heard the sound of someone getting hit, and then Gat’s voice
yelling, “Pierce, we gotta get her to rehab, now, she’s not
gonna stay out for long.” Pierce looked at Shaundi, She beckoned
with her hands to go, and he nodded, hurrying off after Gat. So
that was it… that was how their relationship was going to end.
Or… according to Evelyn, had ended long ago. Shaundi’s heart
felt like a knife was being driven through it, repeatedly. It
became hard to breathe all of a sudden, her breaths turning
short and ragged as she sobbed.
***
Later that night
***
Shaundi was laying in the chair Evelyn had been sitting in
earlier, now in her own pajamas. She was curled up, resting her
head on her left elbow, staring at the floor. Pierce and Gat
walked in, Gat said, “She was admitted, she’s gonna be fine
Shaundi, this doesn’t mean that you two are over, that was just
the meth talking, you know that, right?” Shaundi didn’t reply,
instead, a single tear rolled down her cheek, she didn’t take
her eyes off the floor. Gat walked over to Shaundi, and knelt in
front of the chair she was sitting in. Pierce sat next to her,
but didn’t say anything. Gat put his hand gently under Shaundi’s
chin and turned her to where she was looking at him. “Shaundi,
you two are gonna be ok.”
Shaundi blinked a few times, no, they weren’t going to be ok.
Shaundi had a sinking feeling, on top of the knife in her heart,
that things weren’t going to be ok. She looked into Gat’s eyes,
or rather, where his eyes would be, his glasses where still on.
With her right hand, Shaundi grabbed his glasses, and slowly
slid them off. She then asked in a hoarse voice, “Gat… how do
you continue on when the woman you love is dead?” Gat looked
down at the ground, then nodded slightly, and pulled Shaundi
into a hug.
