No Disc's for Next Gen Consoles

Rumors spreading that Microsoft and Sony will ditch disc's for
future consoles. Another rumor is that Microsoft will
incorporate Blue Ray. I like the idea of no disc's for consoles,
but then I don't, I do because it will be more convenient to
just pick through games on a list of games bought and already on
your console. I don't like it because how are games kept track
of? Built in memory like when you add games to your library now?
Or would all the information be saved on computers at Microsoft?
I don't like that idea, it takes one hacker to turn XBL into PSN
and EVERYONE gets fucked.
Anyway, what do you guys think about no discs?

I'm not too crazy about the idea, downloading whole games takes
up a lot of memory and would limit just how many games you can
have.

its a very bad idea but if it happens what can you do? shits
changing, which is why
Im going back to the PS2 when times were simple and games were
made complete.
ideas such as this and DLC have ruined gaming. Its supposed to
be fun not complicating the hell with all of em

I'm sorry but fuck that! The amount of money you'll have to pay
will be more like back in the day 10 years ago where it was
something like £50 for a game because there won't be any other
alternatives. Plus the whole HDD space issues its going to cause
because I honestly do not feel like having to purchase a bigger
HDD just to store all the data or mess around having to delete
stuff and reinstall it.
They should just stick to the discs with the games end of story.
At this rate the gaming industry is going to go the way of the
music industry in terms of physical copies being non-existant
with the same repetitive titles year in year out being pushed
where as the smaller companies with the vision and abilty to
make brilliant titles will be hindered.

Yeah, I agree, they should stick with the discs etcetera and get
rid of that idea as soon as possible.

What happens if like many people you have 2 or 3 Xboxes dotted
around the house?
Discs are portable you know?
I say Blu Ray should be industry standard for the next gen...

Indeed, blue-ray is the way to go at the moment, no multiple
disks needed by using blue-rays.

I'm guessing this is why they have incorporated a cloud save
feature on Xbox. To get everyone ready for this to happen, sad
to say, but it is going to happen. Game companies are tired of
places like Gamestop making more money on their games than they
do. If the eliminate disc's then they can make more money
because people will ONLY be able to buy new game. I think this
is also why Gamestop now has Impulse because they know that soon
walk-in stores are going to be obsolete. Every game now a days
has to have an "online pass." That is bullshit, just to download
DLC, YOU HAVE TO PAY A COMPANY MORE MONEY JUST TO BE ABLE TO PAY
THEM MORE MONEY. How the fuck does that even work?
