I am a staunch Atheist with a respect for those who are not...
I use the Buddhist philosophy for my moral and ethical
guidelines (not that I am either moral or ethical to any great
extent)...
From the Chat thread, I really don't accept that Judaism is the
first religion by a long way and I would say that the Egyptians,
Mesopotamians and the Hindus all have a far better claim for
being first...
I watched an interesting religious debate this morning as it
happens (after watching yesterday's football highlights). I
watch both shows every Sunday morning actually...
Here is a link if you are genuinely interested in these kind of
debates. I would recommend giving it a watch when you have some
quiet time on your hands...

On a side note,
I haven't moderated this thread but I don't like to see anything
that could cause offence to other members, especially anti
[insert religion here] propaganda...
Please have some respect for other members and their beliefs or
disbeliefs...
Not all religious people are extremists or terrorists, and to
single out any religion as the one that causes bad things to
happen is provocative, deluded, rude and uncalled for...
Have a little balance please people?

I have to agree with J here, Topics like this can easily get out
of hand...Which we do not want happening!

I don't think it has yet or will. If it does or starts to shut
it down. Until then, I think so far we all enjoy hearing where
everyone stands.

Of course we like to hear everyone's opinion. Personally, as
long as your beliefs don't effect my way of life, then to each
his own. I may feel you are in the wrong, but it's none of my
business what you choose to believe. The only time I believe I
should get involved with someone's religious beliefs is when
that person has the power to change millions of lives.
Obviously, I'm speaking of politicians here, and believe that
religion should have nothing at all to do with politics or the
decisions they make. It just ends up causing more problems.

If you actually believe that this will remain above board and
pleasant then you are very naive. Like J and Ayngel have said,
this could easily escalate into more. All it takes is a new
member on here who has very aggressive views and this will go
tits up. I agree, post your opinions, etc.
Just don't be naive to think that this will forever stay clean
and not get out of hand.
