I think they do, it's obvious they were inspired by the EDF... I
absolutely love RFG until I beat it, just like srtt. Though I
liked RFG so much more, I took my time with it to make it last.
That still didn't prevent the inevitable though, it has been
sitting on my shelf for quite some time now..

Red faction was bad to the bone back on its Ps2 days. I loved
RF2, so I thought Armag was gonna be good since I hadent played
RF in a long time, played it and didnt finish it, was kinda
repetitive. Seems like V is starting to turn to the dark side
with their games. they need an intervention!

Mosako is a private army of mercs that was hired out by ultor
and also used by dexter to destroy the saints. Their based on
general mosako from the original RF game.
As for why STAG might have become the EDF
in the RF universe
EDF and Ultor are enemies
in the SR universe
Its never been confirmed, but i imagine that besides the saints,
STAG(pre-edf) are also ultors adversary aswell due to the
formation of the saints-ultor mediagroup.
another tibit as to why EDF and STAG could be one in the same..
in the RF universe three main factions exist.. Ultor, Red
Faction and EDF. At the ending of SR3 cyrus temple tells the
saints they'll be back if they screw things up. with that said,
stag is never truly defeated and could still exist in the RF
universe. As to how they got to become the EDF if thats even
plausible, is a mystery in itself.
some people have also made the assumption that the saints are in
actuality Ultor in redfaction1 because of ultors purple armor.
what really sucks is that we'll never know any of this.

Idk, S.T.A.G. seemed a little too much like they were already
kind of bad guy-ish, whereas the EDF were the good guys in the
beginning of the RF series if memory serves. I believe I
remember them coming to help the Red Faction in the first game.
On another note: While I did find the game play of RF:A awfully
repetitive, I must say RF:G felt a little too repetitive also. I
finished both games once and never picked them up again.
Couldn't even finish Demons of the Badlands because I was so
bored with RF:G by the time I got around to playing it. That
being said, I did thoroughly enjoy both games during my first
play through of each. Personally, I was one of those that had
mixed feelings about RF:G, mainly because I wanted to see a RF3
fps type game, but I also saw the good side of branching out and
trying something different (different for the series, not for
volition as a whole as they already did the whole sandbox action
game before) and it eventually kept the series from going stale,
for a short time and the fact that pretty much everything was
geomodded was awesome. The fact of the matter is though (and by
fact, I mean my personal opinion) that the new directions
couldn't hold me for long (RF:G or RF:A) because they didn't
feel like Red Faction to me.
And there you have it, somewhere in that short wall-o-text, my
opinion of RF:G. And that opinion is.....meh. It was alright.
