Keep doing it then, especially when they mature and those roots
get on top of the ground and start cracking open. Roundup is
actually a salt, you know what salt does to plants? It is just a
matter of how much that plant uptakes before it tips the boat,
no matter if it is through the leaves, bark or roots. But carry
on. :bow:

im just using regular roundup out of a gallon sprayer, not the
stuff from a 30 gallon barrel.

and besides i figure if folks at a vineyard think its safe, then
my little rinky dink vines are ok as long as i dont let it get
on the leaves. i sprayed it all before the shoots got very long,
it was easy to spray all over the ground up to the trunks, no
danger. i couldnt do that now, all the shoots are dragging the
ground.

Them that don't listen has to feel. :timmy: About the time them
vines get about half the size of my wrist and every year they
come out and start foliating real pretty and he gets one a cat
wouldn't scratch thinking about what will be that fall then
about a month later they start acting like they are drought
stressed, leaves have yellow spots and some start falling off.
And they look like that all summer with about a 50% crop or less
for the rest of their life he is gonna say WTF?
They either mulch like heck in raised rows up here or used
guards around the bases and cut the vegetation with string
trimmers. I know when I had orchards here they recommended
planting clover under my trees as opposed to herbicides and
pesticides. Only thing I found bad about that was it was a damn
deer magnet. :pile: Clover brought them stanking things in then
they would browse the hell out of the mature trees, stand on
their hind feet and pick the fruit. Not to mention if you didn't
cage or or electric fence young trees the bucks would decimate
them by rubbing. :fan:
Have I ever mentioned that I hate a deer now? :lol:

See that tells me that either you have been drinking the stuff
in large quantities or who you are getting your info has. It is
all the same, the stuff in the barrel is just concentrate. It is
against the law for the mfg or retailer to mix the OTC stuff any
different than that stuff in the barrel is labled for. Only
difference is the stuff you are buying is packaged for consumer
use. And yes, the state has guys that goes around and pulls
random samples from WalMart and other places that does check the
mix. ;D

Time will tell it always does :cheese: When I was down at UK
they were using big propane torches to kill the grass and weeds.

look, i worked at an air strip long enough to know there are
different grades of the stuff, no its not all the same,
different blends for different applications i guess, i dont know
the details, i just know that they had round up in the barrels
that you'll never see sold at walmart, thats all im saying. it
had different names, it just didnt say roundup. i just got the
regular stuff, the domestic use stuff. i didnt get that info
from my neighbor, he just told me its fine to spray it for weeds
around the vines, as long as it doesnt get on the leaves.
you believe whatever you need to, im just following some advice
i got next door from a man who does this for a living. i sprayed
round up on the grass under my vines, big deal. :icon_nana: you
tellin me you not gonna believe a professional that eats and
breaths this stuff? weed control? he tried to give me paraquat,
but he was out. :tip:
glyphosate in vineyards, its common.

well im not here saying its the only way to get it done, i just
reported what my neighbor advised... iim not gonna discount
40-50 years of experience as easy as some.
