Good answers , i have good luck with heirlooms. Always try
something new. This year , oxhearts and i always like Cherokee
purple. I plant in beds and dont have a problem with blight or
disease or bugs

Count yourself fortunate and be very careful where you get your
tomato plants. I brought my virus in from tomato plants I
purchased from an Amish nursery up the road. Never had a problem
for 30 years until then in the same garden area. Started slowly
and crept through the garden soil. Only remedy now is to spray
or to quit growing tomatoes, beans and peppers (all carriers and
spreaders) for the next four years.

Dane the beefsteak tomatoes that were excellent came from
Mr.Bernie. He had them at one of those Sabine River hunts or
meetings. I'll look into those you mentioned though.

Excellent explanation. I agree that without hybrid vigor the
commercial side of things would be tough. I do like the
heirlooms in my personal garden. Raz I like the Clemson
Spineless okra. Does really good for the ladies making okra
pickles. Which is a toss up between fried and pickled for the
favorite position.
