Bad as you have them they could cause them to defoliate and make
kill it small as it is. Spay it with a insecticidal soap. Very
cheap, you could use an ag oil also but it tends to burn the
leaves this hot in the summer, or I think it does on young
       trees.

[/quote] Yes will work but try spraying before dark so as to
allow time before the extreme heat hit those new shoots next
day. Now the Arkansas Black is a old Heirloom apple that gets
it's name justly as you will see when it starts producing, long
storage life and makes great apple pies. I have one
The enterprise was developed to be a very disease resistant tree
one of UK top picks. I have two  Dale ya need to start
training those trees or all you going to have is a bush. Oh
before I forget I want to thank ya very much for all the PC
stuff you have been doing without it we be using pony express.

they were a lot bushier til i pruned them early summer, i wanted
to see which ones were suckers and which ones were my mains...
but do you prune them during the summer time now? i was gonna
wait til fall/winter when i pruned my vines. was gonna try to
get them sorta like my plums, where i have 3 main arms that
spread out and eventually make a funnel type of canopy, with
       that opening in the middle.

Sevin will kill them but I bet it will take several
       applications.
