Beachy has the look of a front line pitcher. Quentin has the
look of a .270/.850 OPS guy who gets hurt a lot. Dayan for Q
could well be an upgrade.

I'll go one step further and suggest we could make two trades
and get rid of two outfielders.
Quentin for Beachy, if available, would give us a 7th SP.
I would think we could turn around and offer the Mets
Jackson/Pierre for Carlos Beltran.
The money is similar, if not exact. Both Pierre and Jackson come
off the books this year, which would have to be enticing.
Jackson is a serviceable #4 with the potential to be a #1 when
he's on.
At worst, those two would each be Type B FAs. With a strong
second half, either could be a Type A.
In essence, you would replace Jackson/Quentin/Pierre with
Beachy/Beltran/Viciedo and add a year of salary for Beltran.
It would be the type of win now and rebuilding/have my cake and
eat it too move KW loves.

Me thinks Fury would like this lineup better:
Alex Rios - If only. Well, maybe not. Even if the Sox found a
way to get rid of the prohibitively expensive Rios, it would
leave them with an outfield of Viciedo, Quentin, and aging
Pierre in center. In other words, they'd need to score 10 runs
a game.

They might.
But I already said I like the idea of cutting loose both Quentin
and Pierre (agreeing with the ISF proposal). And Rios is
worthless, get rid of him too.
Of course, you'd like an outfield that doesn't generate any RBIs
at all. In your perfect world, the Sox would win every game
1-0 via a balk, steal of second, hit batter, and passed ball.

Nope, the three-run shot, with a couple of RBI doubles and maybe
a triple thrown in too. I like games that end 6-1 or maybe
10-4.

Well right now nobody is hitting so like were Viciedo brought up
all his hits would be solos, there would be nobody to drive in.
And those scores would be the opposition scoring all the runs.
See, the pitching staff has to give up at least 5 runs/game.

The Sox pitching has been decent, overall. So, expanding on
your theory that no one else will get on base and that Viciedo
will only hit solo shots, I'd say we have a decent chance of
winning quite a few games 3-1 or 3-2, with Viciedo going 3 for 4
in each game. We might win some extra-inning games 4-3 too.
;)
