I like this format because I am used to Simple Machines format
for my Bulls board.

I like it too. But on the main page, the subjective titles are
hard to read. not sure why Started by is in black.

Good point Shoe. Plus the Post button was real hard for me to
see, even with my reading glasses I can barely read the work
Post inside the black box.

I believe the reason for this is that there is only one code
that sets all the fields text color.
In order to have the dark background else where, the text color
needs to be light enough to be seen... yet dark enough to show
up against the lighter backgrounds.
Doesnt allow for much wiggle room unless we change the txt color
to something really bright, like Red/Teal/Light Blue. Any of
which would look gaudy.

Method is correct. In the coding for createaforum, one single
CCS color code controls numerous places in the board. Some of
these places have dark backgrounds and some are using the vegas
gold or beige background. That's one of the reasons why I used
very little 'white' as the text color in the darker backgrounds
as the color code would then make certain areas with the light
backgrounds very difficult to read with white text.
For example: If I change the color code to 'black' to darken the
text in the subtitles on the home page, you'll won't be able to
read the text in the top left section of the home page. If I
change it to a lighter color to make text in the darker
backgrounds more visible, some areas that use the lighter
background will be more difficult to read.
So it is very difficult fine tuning this compromise of using
both dark & light backgrounds here, as there's a fine line in
finding colors that are easily visible in all the different
shades of backgrounds.
I could change it to 'red' which would be more easily visible in
both the dark and light backgrounds but I'd expect I'd be soon
reading plenty of complaints that 'there's too much red text
here.'
-------
Update: I changed the color code to a slightly darker grey in
order to make the 'subtitle' area of the home page easier to
read on the light backgrounds. It will also make it a tad less
visible on the darker backgrounds. (I can always change it back)
Also to show you what substituting 'red' as the CCS color would
do to the look and to further demonstrate how changing only one
color code affects other parts of the site, look here at a
sample board I set up to work on possible changes. You'll be
surprised how much is affected by changing just one text code
color:

I know this createaforums setup uses Smart Machines forums... We
could fix it... by starting up our own SMF box with the forum on
it... We could get Tapatalk working with it in a hurry... doing
it in conjunction with the other Chicago sports forums would
make the process easier by getting more peeps involved in
setting the deal up.
But this is only if you write up a defect... :)

Allegedly this is a more mobile friendly link to this board:
