Someone 'splain me why there is a valid concern about how the
switch from being a position player to being a DH has a negative
effect on offensive performance, yet changing from one position
to a new position is looked at as no big deal.
In the former case, the player has even less to worry about.
The defensive aspect has been removed from the equation and all
he has to do is concentrate on hitting. In the latter, the
player has to concentrate on learning to play a new position as
well as continuing to focus on offense.
Not sure that I buy the
"sitting-in-the-dugout-and-not-playing-the-field-saps-your-readiness"
argument either. Edgar Martinez, Paul Molitor and Dave Winfield
didn't seem to have any trouble with it.

Big frank has always said that not playin in the field hurt his
ability to "keep his head in the game".
PK is getting older him playing DH might not be to bad for him.
As to 4's concern's... Dunn has played both LF and 1b in his
career. He CANT be worse then JP in LF....
Dunn has said in the past he didnt want to be a DH didnt think
he could do it, now here we are 4 months into this season and he
cant hit... can we atleast try and get him some playing time in
the field and see how he does?

I do not want Dunn plodding around in LF! That's even worse.

Again... it cant be worse then JP...
He needs to get some time in the field to see if it shakes him
out the slump... get his head in the game.
If one assumes his skill set hasn't completely gone to hell, one
of the few plausible conclusions to his struggles this year is
that hes not playing in the field and is a full time DH and
thats effecting him more then one would think.

Again... it cant be worse then JP...
Jesus God Almighty! I havent seen Dunn and Pierre in any foot
races but I will lay money on Pierre winning 10 out of 10 times.

Right... and i'll bet money that Dunn can catch a ball when it
lands in his glove... it wont bounce out.
I'll also bet that he has a better throwing arm then JP.
Dunn's bat HAS to get going... we gotta do whatever it takes to
make it happen. Not sure why that sense of urgency isnt present
with our manager.

This whole problem would be made much simpler if we could just
get more games against the Indians on our schedule.
