No one goes in unanimous, and some folks will make the Edgar
Martinez argument.
He should be first ballot though, and I suspect he'll earn bonus
points for being a dominant clean player in the age of steroid
abuse.

compare their career numbers... Edgar isn't close to Thomas...
there is no Edgar Martinez argument...
His numbers are up there with Ruth, Ott, Gehrig.
You throw in the steroid mess... and the fact that he was the
ONLY MLB player to show up and speak to congress... the only one
to speak to the Mitchell commission... i think they will step up
and realize what is going on..

I'm not saying I think Edgar is comparable, I'm saying some
schlepp writers (think the Phil Rogers of the Denver or LA
sports beats) are going to say, "but he was a DH" and ding him
for that.

I think those arguments might have held water before the steriod
admissions of a lot of players... after that i think FT's
numbers speak for themselves.
I think the Writers will vote him in with over 90% of the vote.

Prediction: some sanctimonious sports writer will refuse to vote
for him only for the sake of not having him voted unanimously.
He will then write a piece about how Frank Thomas is a sure fire
HoFer, but he still voted "no."

Learn something new everyday... there has never been a unanimous
selection to the baseball HOF... 98.84% is the highest for Tom
Seaver.
