Tribune Broadcasting and DirecTV Reach 5-Year Deal
  HTML http://a.abcnews.com/images/Site/byline_ap.gif
       NEW YORK April 5,
       2012 (AP)
DirecTV subscribers in 19 U.S. markets have regained access to a
host of channels that had been blacked out since Sunday because
of a contract impasse with Tribune Broadcasting.
The two companies said late Wednesday that they had struck a
deal that will allow DirecTV Inc. to carry all of Tribune
Broadcasting's local stations and WGN America for the next five
       years. Terms were not disclosed.
DirecTV Inc. subscribers in the markets lost access to
programming ranging from "American Idol" to Major League
Baseball after the previous contract with Tribune Broadcasting
expired at midnight Saturday. The Tribune Broadcasting channels
were restored at about 9 p.m. EDT Wednesday, DirectTV said.

Last year New Era Cap's commercials concentrated on the
       NY/Boston rivalry.
       This year it's Cubs/White Sox.
       The first commercial:

Glad we got Craig Robinson... he's excellent. Especially in
       "Knocked Up".

So we ran into Bill Melton at Dominick's this morning. I told
Mrs. John Jeter who he was, and we agreed we should go say hi to
him since he was all alone in a grocery store on Easter Sunday
morning. Said hi, and I said "you have the day off today!", to
which he responded "they have the whole year off, I have the day
off" which I thought was odd bordering on nonsequitur. Anyway,
wow, that guy will talk! He immediately went into "they'll
probably be right around .500, some up patches and some down
patches, next year they'll be good". I'm not big on small talk
when you happen to bump into someone you "know", so after saying
"yeah, mrlglmmph, mgnlnuhm", I started surveying my hummus
choices. Mrs. JohnJeter however, said "World Series!" to which
Bill said "World Series! You should probably be up on the
northside!" We all chuckled as Mrs. JohnJeter had clearly been
pwned. That was enough, I had foil and paper towels and 8-to-10s
to grab and kind of wanted to get going, but no, Mrs. JohnJeter
mentioned how she always liked to get some money on them for the
WS in Vegas, Bill mentioned "they're 100 to 1". I mentioned they
were something like 37 to 1 to win the pennant and he thought
that was too low! Some other chitchat about how good Detroit
was, and it was finally over. Upshot of the story is that I
opted for Sabra red pepper hummus, a bit pricy, but it's my
go-to. Bill got some cheap Dominick's cookies.

I know, "cool story bro". Or "tl;dr".

So I don't sound like a total dikk, I should mention that he
seemed like a really nice guy, as has been mentioned here
       before.
