And that person in the White House campaigned on having an
energy policy and he has done nothing. He campaigned on keeping
gasoline prices low too and gasoline is over $4/gal

When it gets over $5 or $6 per gallon, maybe that'll be
incentive enough for people to drive less (translation: consume
less gas) and for the automakers to develop more hybrids and
fully-electric cars. The world has changed, and will continue
       to do so.

I've cut way back on driving. More car pooling, more walking,
       more biking.

Method - there is practially zero coverage down here of anything
Gov Scott does...or anything else done in Tallahassee for that
matter. Do you have links to any of those stories showing him
       "paying off" his political supporters?

       Hey, remember the anti-war movement?
Have you noticed all the huge antiwar demonstrations in the last
twelve months? Yeah, me neither. It turns out that a lot of
the energy for the movement seems to have been provided by
Democrats who are a lot less worried about wars conducted by
Democratic presidents. Or at least who believe that advancing
the Democratic agenda is much more important than trying to end
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is by no means the whole
movement--but it was enough that once a Democrat took office,
both the numbers at the demonstrations, and the organizational
capacity of the movement as a whole, dwindled away to
       near-nothingness.

Now THAT's a tactic I can appreciate. Post stuff from a liberal
publication to make a point to liberals (vs. using Nat'l Review,
Town Hall, etc.). Totally defuses the "well of course that's
biased, look where it's from" objection.
Elsewhere, we are saving money in other areas so we can afford
to take long weekend car trips. That helps, right?

Federal spending is so massive that we're being forced to
monetize our debt. Raising taxes WILL NOT FIX THIS. Massive
cuts across ALL areas of the federal budget have to happen -
       NOW.

Boat... I just follow the tampa and st pete newspapers.
Tampa tribune leans to the left and St pete times to the
right... between the two you can get a decent idea of whats
       going on.

       Gracias.
It's amazing just how much the media down in this part of FL
focus almost exclusively on local city council/county school
board issues. I mean, it's good and all, but there are big
decisions being made in Tallahassee that will affect all
       Floridians.
