After reading this though, I bet the Feds won't sign off on
       it...

One of the biggest "ObamaCare" provisions is forcing insurance
companies in the soon-to-be-created exchanges to adhere to
"medical-loss ratios". No way Sebillius gives FL a waiver.
Taking away choices from the states. That's how these Marxists
       roll...

If the Marxists can lower our drug prices to the lvls they are
in Belize... i'm all for whatever it is they wanna do.
I can understand the FDA handing out Orphan status to drugs etc
and raising some prices... but when other stuff is literally
1/4th the price in a 3rd world country... being brand meds and
not generic... there is something seriously wrong with things
       here.

       Yes there is.
Why are the evil drug companies selling their things to 3rd
World countries at a loss? Those money grubbing executives are
not recouping the cost of creating new drugs but instead are
allowing poor countires to buy their products cheaper!!! That
is acting in a decidingly un-grubbing un-evil way!
Kill the pharmecutical industry in this country and you'll see
what the competent not for profit Federal government churns out
by way of new-drug innovation. And I don't want my tax dollars
       used to churn out any more v i a g r a-type drugs. Hardly a
       necessity now is it!
Edit - Wow. Even Loveland got censored.

My bad. GWB is the bestest president ever... he deserves all the
credit for all of this... every last bit.
I dont believe that but future history will be a lot kinder to
Bush than to Obumma in future generations.

NJ you ever stop at the pharmacies on your trips to Belize?
We scored some "Belize Breeze" from the bartender at the
       Blancaneaux- does that count?
Actually, we weren't anywhere near Belize City- we were inland,
Mountain Pine Ridge in the Cayo District, then on the coast in
Placencia. I would highly recommend both for all here. Very
       affordable places to go.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
The fundamental problem with the healthcare industry is that in
the eyes of the hospitals and service providers, patients aren't
considered customers. The insurance providers are considered
       customers.
Until that changes, there just isn't a point in having this
       debate.

I dont know enough about Herman Cain to make any sort of comment
       on him...
       That's extremely dismissive, ergo:

C'mon, JC - we all know it's "Big Insurance" at the heart of the
       problem.
But you're right - the involvment of a 3rd party payer totally
distorts market forces. Why should a patient care what
something costs when their insurance is footing the bill? And
the health care "reform" monstrosity only doubles-down on that
flawed structure. You think health care is expensive now, wait
until even more people get it for "free"...

"Big Insurance" is only part of the problem. It's certainly a
large part, but it's certainly only one part.

The Liberal Tweak O' The Day:
  HTML http://www.exxonmobilperspectives.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/ExxonMobil-Expenses-and-Earnings-Chart.png
ExxonMobil’s earnings: The real story you won’t hear in
       Washington
Big numbers make headlines – like our announcement of $10.7
billion in earnings for the first quarter of 2011. What may not
make the headlines is the context surrounding that number, so I
thought I would share with you what I told reporters following
       the announcement:
When crude oil prices increase it means higher earnings for oil
companies, and more importantly for most Americans – higher
gasoline prices. Rising crude and gasoline prices have a very
real impact on household budgets across the nation. Gasoline is
an essential product, and price rises are felt by families and
       businesses alike.
Let me start by putting our earnings into context for U.S.
       motorists.
ExxonMobil’s earnings are from operations in more than 100
countries around the world. During the first quarter, more than
three-quarters of our operating earnings came from outside of
       the United States.
The part of ExxonMobil’s business that refines and sells
gasoline, diesel and other products in the United States
represents less than 6 percent – or 6 cents on the dollar – of
       our earnings.
Why so little? Because we actually buy more crude oil to refine
into gasoline and diesel in the U.S. than we produce ourselves.
And these purchases are made on the open market at the
       prevailing rates.
During the first three months of this year, for every gallon of
gasoline and other products we refined and sold in the United
States, we earned about 7 cents. Compare that to the 40 to 60
cents per gallon that went from gasoline consumers to the
government (state and federal) in gasoline taxes.
