My bad. GWB is the bestest president ever... he deserves all the
credit for all of this... every last bit.
My point with Iraq the entire time was, the no fly zone and
sanctions were working just fine. one doesnt need hindsight to
see that. its what was happening then... there was NO need for a
full scale invasion.
GWB's policies in the middle east and Pakistan has helped one of
the most most radical Islamic countries in the world develop
and build up over 100 nuclear warheads. what a WINNER! Within my
lifetime Pakistan WILL use those warheads, within my lifetime
India and Pakistan will have another full scale war... and US
policy over the last 10 years has shown which side they'll be
taking. Now that we've paid to build up their arsenal... they're
running over to ally themselves with China... the folly of US
foreign policy in this area is astounding.
If we'd spent half the money we spent on Iraq on alternative
energy infrastructure we could probably be done with importing
oil all together.
It isnt a co-incidence that he was found in pakistan, nor is it
one that a recent poll shows that the people of Pakistan feel
betrayed for NOT protecting Bin Laden... what great allies...
GWB is AWESOME!
In the case of Iraq... GWB's OWN secretary of state has come out
and said they acted pre-maturely... someone should have double
checked obviously flawed data... but i'm sure you know o so much
better. I'm going to go ahead and continue to believe what colin
powell says and not what the all knowing ISF says concerning the
manner in which the intel was used.
The following was released by the National Security Archive in
2010. Bush wanted to go to war there... he didnt give a rats ass
about contrary intelligence... he saw the bits that supported
his desires and ran with it. Period.
<i>Contrary to statements by President George W. Bush or Prime
Minister Tony Blair, declassified records from both governments
posted on the Web today reflect an early and focused push to
prepare war plans and enlist allies regardless of conflicting
intelligence about Iraq’s threat and the evident difficulties in
garnering global support.
Perhaps most revealing about today’s posting on the National
Security Archive’s Web site is what is missing—any indication
whatsoever from the declassified record to date that top Bush
administration officials seriously considered an alternative to
war. In contrast there is an extensive record of efforts to
energize military planning, revise existing contingency plans,
and create a new, streamlined war plan.
Among other findings from the documents, the posting’s editors
conclude that the Bush administration sought to avoid the
emergence of opposition to its actions by means of secrecy and
deception, holding the war plan as a “compartmented concept,”
restricting information even from allies like the United
Kingdom, and pretending that no war plans were being reviewed by
the president.
President Bush and his senior advisers were so intent on
pursuing their project for war, the documents show, that they
refused to be deterred by early and repeated refusals of
cooperation from regional allies like Turkey, Jordan, Saudi
Arabia, and Egypt; or from traditional allies such as France and
Germany.
Bush administration disdain for a diplomatic solution to the
issue of Iraq’s potential for developing weapons of mass
destruction is further evidenced, the editors conclude, in early
resistance to a multilateral solution through the United Nations
(UN), in a preference to substitute direct U.S. control for a UN
monitoring regime, and in the difficulty encountered by both
America’s closest ally, the United Kingdom, as well as the U.S.
State Department, in inducing President Bush to agree to try a
UN initiative.</i>

ISF one more thing... I've said it for the last 10 years now.
GWB and his entire admistration were living in a cold war
world... They used a Broad sword when a scalpel was needed.
Obama seems to have a far better grasp of that in terms of
national security then GWB/Romney/Cheney. How many ground troops
in Libya now?

NJ you ever stop at the pharmacies on your trips to Belize?
I know we've had a lot of arguments about health care on these
forums..... I was simply SHOCKED to see how cheap brand name
meds were in belize...
I picked up 12 months supply of Ambien/Valium/Wellbutrin without
insurance for what I'd pay with my insurance plan's co pay for 3
months worth of those meds... We dont need no stinking health
care reform! copay is 20 per script per month so 180 bucks for 3
months of meds (this is after i hit my deductible of 750) in
belize i paid 192 for 12 months worth of all the meds.... and no
insurance permiums/deductables....

Boat any thoughts on the laws being pasted this week concerning
Rick scotts medicare reform in florida?
I'm rather apprehensive of handing all that over to private
companies... Medicare shouldnt be a for profit service.

This is interesting... it'll end up starting another civil war
in that country... Musharraf is now being accused of aiding in
the assassination of his primary challenger in open elections.

The pilot program in South Florida seemed to be working pretty
well. The new law is an extension of that. If the estimated
savings of close to $1B come to fruition, I think it's a
win-win...but only time will tell. The private market
competition for Medicaid patients will hopefully lead to a
slower growth in overall costs.
